A thread for those who are undergoing infertility investigations / IVF in Scotland 🙂

Thanks everyone, I got 8 eggs collected. Nervous wait for a phone call tomorrow morning to see how many have fertilised 🤞🤞

Scirocco · 01/06/2021 18:05

Congratulations, 8 is brilliant! Keeping my fingers crossed for you 💜

2mumlife · 01/06/2021 20:00

@kamiros I'll keep it in mind if this FET is unsuccessful.

@itsmschanandlerbong Well done on 8 eggs!

itsmschanandlerbong · 01/06/2021 20:03

@GemmTryTTC best of luck! That was similar to my protocol minus the norethistrone and for the first 2 days I took 150 menopur twice per day, thereafter once per day with fyrmedal at night. It's strange how quickly you get used to doing the injections.

Kamiros · 01/06/2021 20:54

@itsmschanandlerbong Fantastic news!

Eiremogra · 01/06/2021 21:17

Can anyone recommend where I can get a private AFC test done - I’m based in Fife but am absolutely willing to travel. Thanks ladies x

GemmTryTTC · 02/06/2021 08:36

@itsmschanandlerbong we have exactly the same protocol :) First Menopur injection done! The ice hurt more than the needle Grin, so far so good!

Kitekat81 · 02/06/2021 23:02

Hi ladies, hope everyone is doing ok.

@Eiremogra you should be able to book a private AFC test at Dundee Fertility Associates or GCRM?

@Comiston34 how are you doing? Have you found out yet when you'll be starting at GCRM? I was remembering what you were saying about your first ivf cycle, and about your LH surging despite the suppression meds. Did Create tell you why that happened? I'm wondering whether this is something I should be worried about! My LH has been all over the place this cycle (was tracking ovulation using LH strips so I would know when to expect my period so I could book accomm in Wilmslow). After over a year of exactly the same LH surge pattern, I had the strangest pattern this month and didn't ovulate until day 25! (normally ovulate day 13-16). I'm guessing it must be the stress of preparing for IVF made my cycle go completely haywire!!

Disappointing news yesterday, out of 8 eggs only 2 fertilised 😔 I am so upset and scared that we will end up with none to transfer on Sunday. Trying to stay positive and distracted but it's difficult.

Scirocco · 03/06/2021 10:20

Oh, sending hugs. I had a 50% fertilisation rate and was so upset - it's such a worrying time. Keep hoping - even with 2 there's still a chance. 💜

2mumlife · 03/06/2021 10:43

@itsmschanandlerbong I only had 2 mature eggs, both made lovely day 5 blasts. Quality over quantity!

Had my first lining scan for FET only 7.12 mm so hoping clinic call later says I can stay on the estrogen for a bit longer to build it up some more before tranfers.

Was having a chat with the nurse about my EC round, and said it had gone badly, and she asked why they didn't leave me to stim longer! Urgh! Really annoying to still have this big on my shoulder that they just messed up my EC round. Its costing us an absoutely fortune.

Kamiros · 03/06/2021 12:16

@itsmschanandlerbong Thinking of you. I only got 1 egg collected and it turned into a 4aa blast so you just can't tell, there's still a good chance - everything crossed for you.

itsmschanandlerbong · 03/06/2021 13:26

Thanks ladies, it's giving me some hope hearing positive stories. It's just so hard not to worry. 🤞🤞 I get to transfer on Sunday, no call so far today which is a good sign.

@2mumlife knowing there are 'what ifs' must be so difficult to reconcile with. Apologies if you have already said this, but if you need a further cycle (fingers crossed not!) will you have a review with a doctor? I've heard of a good number of women having a much better second cycle because the doctors have learned from the first cycle and have been able to tweak things.

2mumlife · 03/06/2021 19:20

@itsmschanandlerbong We had a review after unsuccessful fresh transfer, but yes we'd have chance for another review if this FET doesn't work, and I could bring up things again. I still wasn't in a great head space after my last review, I really took the whole cycle and BFN badly last time.

Clinic are starting my on progesterone on Sunday, with transfer next Friday. Really hoping my lining gets thicker as really seems on the thin end from what I read....

2mumlife · 03/06/2021 19:21

@itsmschanandlerbong Will you get a call before Sunday? Or is it a 'no news is good news' situation?

itsmschanandlerbong · 03/06/2021 19:34

@2mumlife sorry I'm not totally clued up on FETs as I've not done one, is the aim of progesterone to thicken your lining?
I won't hear from them unless I need to do a day 3 transfer.

2mumlife · 03/06/2021 20:35

@itsmschanandlerbong Ah ok, so it is a bit no news is good news! Estrodiol tablets thicken the lining, then they add in progesterone which essentially simulates the remains of your follicule releasing progesterone after ovulation to make your lining receptive for implantation. From what I can tell your lining can keep on thickening during this so hopefully by the time embabie gets put back my lining will be thicker (I'm not having enough scan though to check though...)

justwant2beamum · 03/06/2021 20:39

Hey can I please jump on can any of you ladies help? I'm north Scotland, had the day 3 blood tests been told by gp receptionist "normal" and she basically put the phone down. I got them sent to me, can anyone help with what the ranges should be? I'm really getting myself stressed out googling

itsmschanandlerbong · 03/06/2021 21:01

@2mumlife aaah that's good then, hopefully with the addition of the medication you'll be grand for transfer! Fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞

@justwant2beamum sorry I have no idea, not medical trained in the slightest, hopefully someone more knowledgable than me will come along.
