A thread for those who are undergoing infertility investigations / IVF in Scotland 🙂

I think I was called up around that time so was walking there!
I got 17 eggs
I won't lie I struggled with egg collection and the slight bit of pain but it didn't feel over quicker than I anticipated. Back in day ward now waiting for them to release me

Hi @willithappen, 17 that’s amazing well done you! I did or didn’t fell over quicker? Was that pain ok top of the meds ☹️

Hope you get out soon and can chill out at home with a nap and some good movies your fav foods 😊

What you got planned for the rest of the day of the day to relax?

I'm in the que for McDonalds now so already on way home haha
It all happened quite quick but it still felt a bit traumatic for me and I cried a lot. I did feel pain but not intense and like I say it was over quicker than I expected.
They drained 20 follicles and got 17 eggs from that. I'm assuming all my other follicles were too small for anything!

I actually feel totally fine just now, but probably that's still all the drugs I'm on making me feel invincible

Sorry @pixelflower I was out of it and didn't notice your message! Yay for Friday! So trigger tonight then? They phoned me quite quick after so you should get a phone call soon!

Ooo, enjoy your McDonald's. I was a bit surprised when she said the meds for collection, I kinda thought it would be more.
Yep, last of the Gonal-F and Cetrorelix at 2pm then trigger tonight depending what time I'm in. Pleasantly surprised that it's another pen one.

@pixelflower aw you get the pen! I was on buserelin so it was another injection you put together! Wasn't as complicated as the cetrorelix though

Got my baseline tomorrow and going through the motions with the nasal spray. Had a bleed last weekend, phoned the clinic and was told some people bleed & some don’t so hopefully on track for next step. Been having hot flashes 🥵 and keep checking the leaflet to make sure everything is normal for side effects it’s getting a little OCD it’s exhausting 🤣

How’s everyone else doing, ok I hope? x

@willithappen can only imagine how stressed I'd be having to do one like that for the first time for the trigger 😶 She's thinking that there's 9 follicles that will be ready so obviously a few less than you 🤣
@Paige2207 thank you. Injections weren't as bad as expected, bar some stress.
Oh no, that doesn't sound fun. How you feeling about your appointment tomorrow?

Yea @Paige2207 back in my bed just now after a 40 mins drive home (and a McDonald's trip haha) so it feels good to be home and have this all over with!

@pixelflower fingers crossed for some good ones! Even though I have 17 there are no guarantee that that many are mature or will fertilise, I think sometimes less numbers work out better!
I'll keep you updated when I get a numbers update tomorrow

That's me done my last Cetrotide and Gonal-F 😁 Clinic phoned and I'm in at 11am on Friday. After I left the clinic I had a message about my getting my second Covid vaccine ....on Friday 🤦 Waiting for the nurse to call back with advice about taking it. Bloody Covid!

@pixelflower aw god both at the same time! Could they maybe give you the jab after egg collection?

I've just had a good nap. Still feeling okay so far

@willithappen they're advice was really it's up to me what I do. Don't want the extra stress of worrying about a fever of anything right now so I'm going to delay it. I have about 8 weeks before the 12 weeks between is up so going to wait and see what happens.

I think I will feel slightly more relieved if I'm still feeling okay tomorrow. Hoping because it was less than 20 eggs that the OHSS risk is less now. No one really said much about it to me today

The nurses are amazing btw and really settle you. I'm struggling to remember the whole egg collection process now though 🙈

Am ok about tomorrow’s appointment. Little nervous as I don’t know what to expect and was told my appointments would be first thing in the morning and would rather get the hour’s drive dusted but hey ho! Might just take a wee detour to mccyds on the way home 🤣

Your appointment should be fine if it's the same as what I had. Just an internal scan and they will check the ovaries and see how things are! When do you start stims?

Won't lie, I'm feeling so good about stopping the injections now! Fingers crossed lots fertilise and get to the freezer and this works so I don't need injections again!

@willithappen fingers crossed you keep feeling good, and for lots in the freezer 🤞🤞🤞😊 Did it feel weird not having to do the injections?

@Paige2207 I was so nervous before my baseline appointment but was absolutely fine. Did feel like everyone else seems to leave with so much information about where they are, but it was more of an everything is fine thing. Good luck and let us know how you get on😊

@pixelflower yeah Tuesday night not having to do them felt weird. Alarm went off then I realised it wasn't needed!
Also feels weird not seeing them sat in the fridge or taking up cupboard space too! How did you get on with your trigger?

Just got my call from the clinic and out of my 17 eggs only 11 were mature. 8 fertilized
I know that's a good number but I still feel a bit deflated and worried about any of them making it to day 3/5 now. They will call on Saturday to let me know how they are getting on

@willithappen I know it's practically impossible but try to take it one step at a time. Right now you have 8 fertilised which is great! Saying that I fully anticipate being the same other the next week 🤦

Trigger was fine. Felt oddly emotional after and went to demand a hug 😂

@pixelflower I'm a bit better about it now I'm thinking more. I think just to hear 17 and drop to 8 is a big drop off so that's what set me but I know I'm very very lucky to have 8 right now. Just praying they develop
Because we are unexplained as well I'm just waiting for a door to smack me in the face at each hurdle

I was a bit emotional after my trigger too! Also VERY emotional at the clinic yesterday and was told I looked like a deer in headlights lol
I have no relocation of egg recovery much now actually which is weird. I think I must have been a bit out of it for a bit because I thought I got released quite early but I think I actually was there a bit longer lol

I kinda understand that. Having 29 follicles on the baseline scan to them saying 9 will be ready feels like a huge drop. I'm going by that old line it only takes one.
The unexplained is so hard sometimes, it's the not knowing. Is there nothing wrong or have they just not found it. I haven't even had tests so tubes could be wrecked for all I know🤷🏼.
How odd that you don't remember. I've never had anything like that so curious how I'll be. Husband decided to tell me yesterday that he's had a bad time taking that medication in the past - cheers hun! 😂

Yeah exactly @pixelflower so I think it's going to be a constant worry at each stage due to not knowing what the issue is :(

I can vaguely remember being sat there and watching them get things ready and telling them I didn't feel sleepy at all. I can also remember feeling in pain but I don't remember the pain if that makes sense? It was over before I knew it though! I remember her saying she was on to the second ovary also and yeah that's about it!
Oh also saying sorry loads for having hairy legs lol

@willithappen hopefully we can continue to support each other throughout 🤞

It's funny, I really over thought what I wore to the first scan and made sure legs were freshly shaved and stuff because I was so self conscious. By the third scan I ended up standing in my jumper and pants in front of here while she got a sheet because there wasn't one laid out.
I'm so intrigued by how it's going to feel 😂

Just back from baseline & medical again and all good for now! Probably one of our best appointments at Dundee so hoping things are on the up from here! 🤞🏼 To continue nasal spray then start progynova next week, up the dose the following week and another scan on the 16th and go from there. Nurses were lovely & my counsellor popped in to say hello so all in all a good appointment!

Aww @willithappen sorry that your feeling a bit deflated about the drop but gave to agree with @pixelflower all it takes is one!! I have 3 frozen embryos in the freezer and at first I was gutted about the numbers when the embryologist called me and said about the grading then I felt so much better! Our friend only had one (poor quality as well) and now she’s the cutest, chattiest 3 yr old little girl it gives me hope.

Never made it to mccyds tho..kindeh gutted about that! 🤣 x
