Hope everyone’s doing ok xxx

West2401 · 08/10/2020 13:20

@ivfhope3 @Raggity19 thank you! I have PCOS with no periods so have no way to track/identify my cycle, it's a bit of a pain. I'm so overly emotional at the minute.
We're in local lockdown and have been for a few weeks and I live about 30 miles from my family so I feel like I've had very little support going through everything- now they're announcing national lockdown I'm just feeling overwhelmed. I'm trying not to overload on to my husband as we lost my father in law 6 weeks ago in a sudden accident (just as they told us transfer wasn't going ahead) so I just feel like a mix of grief and hormones. I wish Boris would at least let partners in to appointments and it would feel a lot less daunting 😕

Raggity19 · 08/10/2020 13:26

@Mctm123 sorry we cross posted. 15 is amazing! Well done!!

@West2401 I feel very overwhelmed too. It’s a hard process especially with everything you’ve had going on. I feel like all this time injecting is giving me so much time to think and making me question all my life choices 😂 is this normal? Or is it just hormones or what?! Just be kind to yourself

hopeful182 · 08/10/2020 14:00

@Mctm123 15 is amazing, well done and glad it was more than last time. Haha I love that you've been craving a ham and cheese toastie! Mine yesterday was the best I've ever had.
I got my call about an hour ago. Out of 22 eggs, 20 had fertilised but 4 were abnormal, they didn't say what was wrong. So I have 16 left, just waiting for the call on sat. Fingers crossed for your call tomorrow.
@West2401 sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed, and rightly so for what you've been through. As has already been said, please look after yourself and we are all here to have a chat to. I can't believe how much this thread has helped me personally. Thanks to @ivfhope3

Emmalouise11 · 08/10/2020 14:15

Thanks for the lovely messages ladies I was a bit spaced out this morning but feeling a bit better now after a sleep and some painkillers!!

@hopeful182 16 is a great number! Looking forward to hearing more updates from you xx

@ivfhope3 I’m so frustrated for you it’s bloody heartbreaking! Look after yourself hun xx

@West2401 I’m not surprised you feel emotional you have gone through and are going through a lot. Don’t be hard on yourself and if you need to have a rant or cry then go for it. I was feeling similar on the meds and I know @Raggity19 you felt the same too. It’s a lot that we are putting ourselves through and it does take its toll but just take each day as it comes. I always felt better after a cry (and some treats!) be kind to yourselves.

This is a lovely group and thanks again @ivfhope3 for bringing us all together xxx

ivfhope3 · 08/10/2020 17:00

@Emmalouise11 welcome an good luck hun..

Can anyone help me.. who's had a few rounds of ivf.. do they check FMH levels or the hepatitis an others?? I was just told they should do them every 6 myths I haven't had one for 4 years xx

OP posts:
Raggity19 · 08/10/2020 17:18

@ivfhope3 what’s FMH? Do you mean AMH? I haven’t had mine checked this time but I did have an AFC which I think is meant to be a better indicator of fertility. They just asked if my other bloods were up to date and I sent them in, I haven’t had them tested since our first round which was at the beginning of this year so was defo more than 6 months xx

ivftake1 · 08/10/2020 17:23

I think NET has made me feel fucking miserable this week. And fat and bloated and I keep making shit diet choices (but making sure I'm eating salad etc most days for some sort of nutrition).

Can't wait for this month to be over.

ivfhope3 · 08/10/2020 17:43

hopeful182 · 08/10/2020 17:58

@Emmalouise11 I was on the short cycle you can ask me anything, hopefully I can answer. X

@ivfhope3 with mine more than likely being delayed, I will be doing a frozen cycle on the next period, I've never done a frozen cycle, but it looks like ET will be end of nov beginning of dec now also. I know its dissapointing, but its not too far away. Kind of. Xx

ivfhope3 · 08/10/2020 18:03

@hopeful182 sorry hun.. ranting on.. think everything's just hit me.. Aw I'm sorry to hear that, when will you know if it's freeze all?? We will keep the thread going an we can keep in touch throughout :) how are you feeling!! Xxx

OP posts:
Emmalouise11 · 08/10/2020 18:13

@hopeful182 thank you, was just wondering if the side effects were bad, and really apart from shorter medication what is the difference for having the longer or shorter one? Every time I speak to a nurse or doctor I keep forgetting to ask all these questions lol x

ivfhope3 · 08/10/2020 18:27

@Emmalouise11 sorry I'm useless I can't remember what I'm on :) I remember medication but not sure on which protocol:) hope your well xx

OP posts:
Emmalouise11 · 08/10/2020 18:32

@ivfhope3 it’s alright lol there’s so much to remember all I know so far is I start taking progynova for 8 days then have a scan then find out what happens after that lol, hope your ok x

ivfhope3 · 08/10/2020 19:07

@Emmalouise11 I had a long protocol then lol xx

OP posts:
hopeful182 · 08/10/2020 19:13

@ivfhope3 Eee no, rant away hun, that's what you've started this thread for. It was bound to hit you eventually, I know how dissapointed you are at the minute. But it can only get better can't it? Haha.
I will find out on either Saturday (day 3 of how the embryos are doing) or Monday, they did say they might book me in for a transfer anyway to come in and speak to them. I am OK ish with it, I can only do whats best for my body and for the best chance of it sticking. Please keep this going, its nice to see how people are getting on. Im feeling better today, still sore but OK, work have given me the night shifts off aswell. Woo hoo.

@emmalouise11 I was put on the short cycle due to being high risk of hyperstimulation, not sure if that's the same for yourself. But I think the difference is between the 2 is the short cycle starts stimulating the ovaries on the start of day 1 of period, then after a scan to see how they have responded (grown) then the trigger shot is given 36 hours before egg collection depending on the scan. The long cycle i believe involves taking meds before the stimulation meds to stop things down there, then to go onto the stimulation meds. Please ladies correct me if I'm wrong as I have never done the long cycle/protocol.

I was on a slightly different medication during my first cycle, than the one you are on. This cycle i was on menopur which I believe is the usual type of medication.
Please ask the clinic though, I might be getting all this info wrong, and it is a very individual process for everyone. I always forgot questions, so I bought a small notebook , took it everywhere with me, and wrote down every question as I thought of it, I found that helped immensely. I still do that now. X

hopeful182 · 08/10/2020 19:18

@Emmalouise11 I forgot to say I didn't have any major side effects during the injection part, apart from from a bit of bloating and twinging, you know you can tell something is happening.
However this cycle, I have had a bit of a reaction due to the being very very stimulated, after the egg retrieval.
But as I keep saying to myself, having a baby is probably worse, (well not worse but you get what I mean) and if I can't get through this I am doomed!! Haha. Xx

Emmalouise11 · 08/10/2020 19:35

@hopeful182 I just read my paper work and the progynova tablets are to control my cycle not sure why lol, and then after my first scan I go on to injections. Will defo purchase a notebook and write it all down. Oh no hope your alright, how did you find the egg retrieval? I’ve never been sedated before so that’s the bit I’m most scared of haha xx

Mctm123 · 09/10/2020 08:16

Hi @Emmalouise11 I’ve done both the long and the short. This time around I much preferred the short as it’s over an done with so much quicker. I was on a high dose of menopur and expected crazy side affects but hardly had any apart from 2 occasions I suddenly felt emotional but after a good cry I was fine again. But I do thinks that more down to having 3 miscarriages previously and panicking thinking why am I doing this again! With regards to egg collection, the sedation is fine. I actually like it because you have the best sleep ever haha. I had mine yday an felt spaced out an bit of pain for a few hours afterward but otherwise well enough. Keep us posted how you’re getting on xx

Mctm123 · 09/10/2020 08:19

@jm2020 how are you getting on in your tww? Xx

ivfhope3 · 09/10/2020 08:51

jm2020 · 09/10/2020 09:01

@Mctm123@ivfhope3 I’m doing ok - I don’t feel any diff tbh! Some days I’m convinced it’s worked and some days I’m not 🤷‍♀️Hope you’re both ok xx
