Hi ladies

I hope things are going well for you all and you don’t mind me messaging on this thread. I am booked for my top of the list appointment in February and wondered if any of you could let me know what to expect at this appointment please (the paperwork hasn’t arrived yet, the appointment was confirmed by phone). How long did you wait following this appointment before you started treatment? Did you have to attend an information event beforehand or was it cancelled due to covid? TIA

Hi! It was around 4 month wait between that appointment and starting for me, with an information event in between that that was before covid though, my treatment was cancelled halfway through back in March, I eventually had my first round in October but unfortunately that failed ... just waiting to ring back up to hopefully start second round the end of this month everything being well 😊

@LS14 I had my info meeting at the beginning of December 2019 was very good don't know if they still doing them found alot out from it. Christmas eve we had our top of waiting list appointment and that was going though all paper work and signing to do IVF then we were booked in for March 3 months from top of waiting list. This was cancelled due to covid. We got contacted September . We started late October beginning of November 2020 when got started it was quick depends what protocol they put you on xxx

Thank you both for replying so quickly, really appreciate it. I find waiting a little easier when I know what timelines are, I think I was being too impatient or optimistic when they said ‘top of the list appointment’.

@Hoping1 good to know about the information evening, hopefully they will still be doing it in some form, even if it’s virtual. Sorry to hear covid stopped you earlier in the year.

I’m very new to the whole process but my learning so far is to be prepared for lots of waiting and plans to change. I’m excited to be moving forward though. How did you both manage the waiting? Are you pleased you’re at JC?

You’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head, change and waiting... The waiting between everything is the hardest part I think... your constantly just waiting for the next thing lol. I went from being on long protocol to short, I had a day for egg collection pushed back so more follicles could develop the. Ur just waiting between each appointment x

I’m hoping the time will pass quickly and keeping the faith that it will all be worth it in the end. Thanks for your help, it’s really useful to be able to ask questions to those who are going through it at the same clinic.

I love James cook I was at other hospital before that and hated them love James cook. There is a lot of waiting. If you need to ask anything eles feel free I feel I picked up good tips from people along the way. How long have you been trying for xxxx

@Hoping1 that is really reassuring, thanks! 3 years, never a positive test. Diagnosis is unexplained, which is frustrating. Trying to take it as a positive though and do all I can to improve chances of success. Xx

What about you?

This year we are 4 year trying and sadly our first November ivf didn't work but we are thinking positively after our heartache as we still have 2 goes at it so hopefully next time. We had bit him bit me not working right but not really sure now what going on lol there always a lot to take in as we both improved so not sure what it is. How old are you I am 31 xxx

Really sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed that your next round will be the one. We are fortunate that our local CCG allow 3 rounds, not sure we could afford it otherwise. My reserve is low and possibly some mild MFI in the background, but they still said unexplained. It’s a good sign that they’ve said there’s an improvement for you both though. I’m 33. x

I like you have never had a positive hopefully one day we both do lv. What I remember from top of waiting list appointment it feels like you a moving quickly once you have that as you have somthing to focus on hopefully covid won't have any more impacted lv. His stuff was low but they recommend proceed and when we went for egg collection his had massive improved. They think I have pco but not syndrome part so I am on metaformin. We had 3 too but what I learnt along the way you actually have potential to have 6 goes because you have your first fresh collection and if you get egg to freeze that next frozen is still class as one go. I got high number of eggs but none good enough to freeze so I am on 2 cycle now xxxx

We have had our top of the list appointment and so now we are waiting to hear when our telephone appointment with the nurse is. The waiting is difficult but hopefully it won’t be too much longer. We were also recommended proxeed so fingers crossed it helps us too.

I would recommend proxeed to anyone we had such good results with it. You are on the road now that phone call that is to give you your start date make sure you know when your last period was and how long your cycles are. It will fly from there if you need anything thing feel free to drop a message if you want to know anything. Thank you I have been focusing on getting my head right and body for this next cycle and I ring on my April period my ec will be the beginning of May xxxxx

Things are going well thank you. Got our second midwife appointment on Wednesday. Will be 17 weeks on Thursday. Can't believe how quick these last few weeks have gone. We've been so lucky to have it work on our first go xxx
