Hi ladies, I’ve been through all of my fertility screening tests etc and am due to start my first and hopefully only round of IVF (positive vibes Smile ) soon. I’m looking to share my hopes, experiences and tips and provide support to anyone else expecting to start a cycle soon. The more the merrier!

🤞🏼 it arrives properly tomorrow for you @Lightningrain. I had EC on day 12 (counting day 1 as first injection day). I only stimmed for 9 days, but I've heard of people stimming for up to 16 days x

Lightningrain · 25/09/2020 22:18

@ivfjourney5 thank you! It’s always the same when you want AF to be on time.

I’m hoping for day 12 or shortly after as we have to self-isolate from day 9 to the day after transfer. We haven’t told work about the IVF but have booked some leave which hopefully should cover it. I’m working from home but do have to go in to the office occasionally so there’s a slight chance I might be needed for something.

The clinic said they could give us a letter for self-isolating but I didn’t really want work knowing. It’s just more people we have to tell if it doesn’t work.

Hi. I've been reading through some of the updates on this thread. It might be a little late, but has anyone seen the prepay prescription certificate? It covers the cost of all medication for 3 months (£30) and 12 months (£106)
I have the 3 month one and have managed to get 1 full cycle and currently going through my 2nd cycle meds. These cycles are NHS ones so not sure how other peoples cycles work, but it might be worth looking into for the cost aspect. Im not sure if there are any exemptions, but from what I've read there doesn't seem to be.
I spoke to the clinic nurse about it for my first cycle and she did not know about it!!
I knownthis may be late for some people but hopefully it could save a bit of money for some.
Check the Internet. Its a PPC form you need to fill out and purchase. Xx

ivfjourney5 · 26/09/2020 12:05

Thanks @hopeful182 I had heard something about paying for 3 months worth of prescriptions but didn't really do any research into it. I live in Wales so I don't normally pay for prescriptions but my clinic is in England, so far I've spent over £100 in the last 4 months on prescription costs (which I know is absolutely nothing compared to people paying for their cycles). I'll have a look into if I need another FET x

Dinky06 · 26/09/2020 12:07

@hopeful182 thanks! I just checked it out and sadly (for me at least!) it is only for NHS prescriptions and so wouldn't cover any prescriptions from private clinics. V sad however that they don't publicise these things more widely. I'm sure it would help so many who just don't know about it

Hope everyone has started the weekend well. I'm waiting for AF to arrive and have shocking PMT until she does! Xx

hopeful182 · 26/09/2020 12:42

@Dinky06 thats a bit rubbish! You would think it would cover the private too.
Hope it helps some people though. X

hopeful182 · 26/09/2020 12:45

@Dinky06. Forgot to say hope you AF comes soon. Im on day 3 of injections, going well so far. 😊

mayihavesomecakeplease · 26/09/2020 12:46

Are you meant to pay for the drugs if it's an NHS round? My nurse just said "they'll be delivered to your house on Tuesday" and they subsequently arrived... should I be expecting a bill?

Hope everyone is feeling okay with their waiting or medications :)

ivfjourney5 · 26/09/2020 13:16

@hopeful182 I'm glad the injections are going well 😊

@mayihavesomecakeplease no the only thing you might have to pay for is the prescription costs, about £9 for each different drug. I've always had to pay before the drugs arrive though, so you might not have to!

I'm halfway through the norethistertone, seems to have dragged the last couple of days!

SpyroC · 26/09/2020 17:37

@Lightningrain I have stimmed for 12 days on both cycles. I think there's then 2 nights where you don't stim. But it does vary depending on your response. I hope af shows her face today for you. I get 12 follicles but unfortunately, only 6/7 eggs, still bit bad for my AMH though so I hope it doesn't go worse this time!

@Dinky06 I'm a privately funded too. My first cycle was nhs funded and there were no prescription charges any way. Well if it had worked it would have been a private prescription for the cyclogest. My drugs cost about £2k so I'd be very surprised if a £30 scheme co eyed it.

@mayihavesomecakeplease like most things ivf, it depends where you live 😬. I didn't pay anything for the nhs round.

unknownscot · 26/09/2020 20:27

Hey. Thought I'd hop on here, I'm on the Sept thread too.

I'm currently on day 6 stims - Menopur and Fyremadel.
I have my first scan on Monday coming and will have a freeze all with FET due to high AMH and likelihood of OHSS.

Anyone else in a similar situation/stage? X

ivfjourney5 · 26/09/2020 20:51

@unknownscot 👋🏼 x

Tara8 · 27/09/2020 07:59

Morning all, looking for some advice please! I stopped taking Norethisterone on Tuesday and started bleeding Friday night/Saturday morning so first menopur injection due this evening, however my bleed/period is really heavy and painful like nothing I've ever had before (it's leaked onto clothes and bed sheets, sorry TMI)! Do you think I should be worried or is this normal? Either way I guess I should start the menopur!? Thanks and sorry! Confused

Mrsmch123 · 27/09/2020 08:02

@unknownscot hi I'm on day 3 of stims with Ovaleap. Got a scan next Friday to see how I am responding.

Lolly2020 · 27/09/2020 10:45

Hi everyone am I OK to join? This is our first round of IVF. I'm taking my last norethisterone tablets today and have a consultation and mock transfer on Tuesday.

ThePurpleFairy · 27/09/2020 11:46

@ivfjourney5 thanks, we did the first one last night. All went ok, the worst part was trying to suck up every last bit of the fluid back out of the vials! But all good, just continue like this now until Weds morning when we add the second injection. It’s just the unknown for us at the moment I think. I’m having nightmares that I get there on Friday and she tells me I’ve got no follicles growing.

Welcome @Lolly2020 good luck for everything Smile

@Tara8 sorry I’m not much help, I would think you can still start your stims. I think they say that you only need to worry with a period if you’re soaking an entire pad every 1-2 hours maybe? Perhaps give your clinic a call to give yourself peace of mind?

Lightningrain · 27/09/2020 12:06

@SpyroC fingers crossed for a better result this time. I guess they alter the medication depending on previous cycle results so hopefully this time for you. I’m still cramping but no AF yet. My cycles do tend to vary in length by two or three days but it’s typical that this is the longest I’ve had in a long time. I feel like I should go for a run or something to try and speed it along.

@Lolly2020 welcome and good luck! I guess you’ll be similar to me in terms of timescales as I’m just about to start short protocol once AF finally arrives.

@Tara8 I’d call the clinic to check anything that seems unusual. Maybe the Norethisterone can cause a heavier period?

@ThePurpleFairy I’m glad the first injection was ok. Hopefully mine will be today or tomorrow.

unknownscot · 27/09/2020 13:25

@Tara8 My period is usually heavier after taking Norethisterone - but if ever in doubt I'd contact a healthcare professional x

ivfjourney5 · 27/09/2020 14:05

@Tara8 mine is also worse after norethistertone, not flooding though but everyone's different. I agree with some comments already said about maybe contact your clinic just to put your mind at ease

@Lolly2020 welcome! I think a mock transfer is a great idea! My clinic don't do it but it sounds like a good thing to do

@ThePurpleFairy glad it went well! Try not to worry, they will have based your doses on your AMH/AFC

@Lightningrain hopefully AF arrives soon!

Dinky06 · 27/09/2020 14:10

@Tara8 AF arrived for me today after Norethisterone and my period definitely feels heavier with a lot more cramping than I am used to. I'm not bleeding through though. Hope you are feeling OK.

I've got a scan on Tuesday and then think I start my first injections that night if all looks OK. Fingers crossed!

Hope everyone is well xxx

Mancbear88 · 27/09/2020 16:42

Hope everyone is doing ok. I’ve started my noristerone now for a FET. My first ivf cycle was successful but i had a missed miscarriage, and my first FET was cancelled mid cycle due to COVID.
My lining is very slow to respond but there doesn’t seem to be a reason. So this time I’m on double dose oestrogen, patches and pessaries.

Good luck to everyone, fingers crossed for lots of BFPs Smile

unknownscot · 27/09/2020 17:15

I'm totally new to all this and having a freeze all cycle with FET.

I'm really confused about how it works.
Say I have my EC on 1 October, what happens after that in terms of bleeds/medication/timing?

Obviously I know everyone is different but I have no idea really.
X

MF1981 · 27/09/2020 17:39

Welcome everyone! I’m having a mock embryo transfer too as my hsg was unsuccessful so they want to check the catheter will go in ok and put my mind at rest too.

Raggity19 · 27/09/2020 18:22

Hello everyone, can I join? I’m between threads as started in September but EC is set for October! This is our second round due to MFI. I’m on day 8 of buserelin so just waiting for AF now. X

Lightningrain · 27/09/2020 18:39

My AF showed up about an hour after the cut off to count today as day 1 so I’ll be starting Meriofert tomorrow.

I’m nervous but looking forward to finally getting started. I’ve got my scan booked for Tuesday 6th so hopefully egg collection the end of that week.
