Hi ladies, I’ve been through all of my fertility screening tests etc and am due to start my first and hopefully only round of IVF (positive vibes Smile ) soon. I’m looking to share my hopes, experiences and tips and provide support to anyone else expecting to start a cycle soon. The more the merrier!

Great result @Dinky06! Fingers crossed for good news on Tuesday

Mrsmch123 · 11/10/2020 13:25

@Dinky06 what a year you have had! Hopefully your year finishes of better than it started!

Lightningrain · 11/10/2020 18:32

@Dinky06 that’s a great result. You must be due some positive news after such an awful year so far. Fingers crossed for you!

Dinky06 · 11/10/2020 19:38

Awwww thank you ladies! Hope you didn't mind my mini offload.

How is everyone doing?

I had my first intramuscular injection today. The first that DP has administered and dare I say it, it was actually OK! What wasn't OK was a subcutaneous shot I just did solo called Inhixa. It started burning mid injection and the sensation has lasted for over 10 mins! Not looking forward to the next one tomorrow. I'm still feeling achy after EC too which I guess is normal so planning on an early night!

Hope everyone has a good start to the new week xx

@Dinky06 sorry I have been out of it today so didn’t say much before, I’m sorry that you’ve had such a crappy time, you really deserve some happy news.

Just a word of advice from a day ahead, keep up your paracetamol! I got a bit lazy with mine today and today is the worst I have felt pain wise. Not unmanageable but just not pleasant. I’ve just been lay on the sofa feeling sorry for myself today mostly. Glad your injections went ok, in a way I’m sort of grateful (although still frustrated at the wait that I face) that my transfer won’t be for a long time yet so my body can recover!

Sunbird24 · 11/10/2020 20:18

Hope you feel better again soon @ThePurpleFairy!
@Dinky06 maybe tomorrow’s will be less reactive as you’re body’s experienced it before? Here’s hoping...

I’ve spent the weekend at my parents’ glued to a heat pad as I’m allergic to paracetamol! Definitely feels better now than it did Friday, which is good. I guess we’ll all react differently for various reasons,
My ET is Monday afternoon, and then I’m due to find out on Tues/Weds whether I’m getting a promotion - going to be an interesting week...

Lightningrain · 11/10/2020 21:31

@Dinky06 I definitely agree with keeping on top of the pain relief and taking it easy if you can. The intramuscular injections don’t sound pleasant - good luck with the next one.

I was still aching when I woke up the following morning so had some more cocodamol. I rested up and it seemed to ease off later that day. I was reasonably ok yesterday but I’ve had quite a lot of pain this afternoon and a bit of spotting this morning. I might have overdone it as I went for an hour’s walk this morning, although it seemed a different type of pain more like trapped gas. I’ve had paracetamol, a hot bath and peppermint tea and feeling a lot better. It was really uncomfortable to stand or sit so I ended up laid down on the sofa most of this evening. I wonder whether I’ve not drunk enough water today as I had nowhere near the amount I’ve been drinking.

I’m hoping another good night’s sleep will sort me out anyway.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Dinky06 · 12/10/2020 09:33

Morning all, I'll definitely stick with the paracetamol, thanks! I slept better last night but do feel really tired today still. Think it's part emotional / part physical.

@Sunbird24 wanted to wish you luck for this afternoon. Sending super sticky vibes! Fingers crossed for the promotion news as well :)

Take care all xxx

@Lightningrain hope you slept ok last night!
For both, I can recommend the heat pad option if you’ve got a hot water bottle you can snuggle up with? Those stick on heat patches are pretty good too if you need to be out and about.

Does anyone know if we’re expecting the post-ET days to be similar to the post-EC days? I read if you get OHSS for the first you’re more likely to get it after the second too

unknownscot · 12/10/2020 10:02

Sorry I've been very quiet. We've just had our day 6 call.

22 eggs collected
14 fertilised
7 day 3
1 day 5 grade 3BB

I'm heartbroken to say the least and know it's only 1 I need but it's for the future too. I want more than one baby. I'm angry and upset and want a day of being allowed to be.
😢

Sunbird24 · 12/10/2020 10:12

I’m so sorry @unknownscot

Tara8 · 12/10/2020 10:29

@unknownscot I'm sorry. I know nothing I will say will really help you but please dont be hard on yourself, you've done everything you can but it's also totally ok to be angry and upset, it's all part of this rollercoaster of a journey. I think I sort of know a bit about how you're feeling. When I got the unexpected call on Saturday to say that only 1 egg had progressed to day 3 I was devastated and still am, I know everyone says it, but it does only take 1 and I do feel fortunate that I had still had 1 on day 3. The clinic just called me again this morning and explained to them how disappointed I was and that I was feeling very low about it all and they told me that 80% of cycles do not have any to freeze by day 5 so we are by no means on our own in this. What are the next steps for you? I'm sorry I'm terrible with words and it's hard to write what you want to say x

Dinky06 · 12/10/2020 10:42

@unknownscot I'm really sorry to hear this and want you to know that you are in my thoughts. You have every right to be as angry and sad as you feel the need to be and you have all of us to share the pain and frustration with too x

@Tara8 you're not terrible with words at all :)

ThePurpleFairy · 12/10/2020 13:27

@unknownscot I’m sorry that you’re feeling disappointed with the results Sad I’m dreading the call on Thursday, I can’t even imagine how you must be feeling Flowers

@Sunbird24 good luck for transfer and for your promotion! I was promoted a couple of weeks ago, all happening at once it makes your head spin doesn’t it!

Has anybody felt nauseous after egg collection? I had mine on Friday so I’m 3 days post EC now, yesterday I was pretty uncomfortable pain wise, today pain is much less and I don’t even need paracetamol for it, but I feel SICK, just ergh totally horrid. I don’t think it’s OHSS as my egg number wasn’t high enough for them to be worried any more and I have none of the other signs just feeling totally and utterly rubbish today

Lolly2020 · 12/10/2020 14:39

Hi everyone hope you're all doing ok.

I had my day 12 scan today and they said I have 8 follicles but they still need to grow more so I'm back in on Weds for another scan with EC on Friday. I'm a bit worried that 8 isn't a lot as I know there won't be an egg in all of them but fingers crossed there's a good quality one!

Dinky06 · 12/10/2020 15:12

@ThePurpleFairy it's rubbish feeling sick. I haven't had any nausea but have had some abdominal cramping and dare I say it I don't think I've been as regular since EC.

@Lolly2020 it's obviously all so uncertain but they do say that things can develop quite rapidly in the days leading right up to EC so try to stay positive on this one. I had a wobble moment in the run up to mine because I felt I got quite a downbeat message by the sonographer at my last scan about possibly needing to wait longer for EC but then the hormones in my blood levels indicated a different picture. Hope you are doing OK with stims etc.

I have an embryo on board! It took 2 goes as it didn’t want to leave the catheter first time, so hoping it being stubborn is good...

Tara8 · 12/10/2020 15:51

Well done @sunbird24, sounds like a sticky one! 😊

@thepurplefairy are you still feeling unwell this afternoon? If you havent had any other symptoms hopefully you'll feel better soon and nothing to worry about. I did struggle after EC with pain and bloating and yesterday was the first day I could go for a walk (5 days after EC) so it does take time to recover. I don't think they really prepared me for this part of it, not sure how others feel?

Dinky06 · 12/10/2020 16:19

@Sunbird24 exciting news! What was the procedure like and have they given you any particular guidance?

OP posts:
Sunbird24 · 12/10/2020 16:23

Sooo much easier than EC @Dinky06, very similar to a smear. I had to hold my own speculum in though as my pelvic floor muscles weren’t particularly keen. 🤭 You don’t even feel the catheter going through your cervix.

Guidance is keep doing the progesterone you’ve got, keep taking folic acid, stay well hydrated, no strenuous activity, heavy lifting or hot baths, and test in 2 weeks. Give us a call if you have any issues or questions.

SpyroC · 12/10/2020 17:34

Congratulations @Sunbird24

@unknownscot I'm sorry to hear your news of course you can be angry and upset. I have never had good news myself on transfer day and it is very difficult to deal with. I've been through 2 rounds at 31/32 and never had anything to freeze and I'm sure with 22 eggs it has come as a bit of a shock too. Have I remembered correctly that you are doing a frozen transfer? I can imagine that's tricky too as I know when the embryo goes back in you do start to feel better and almost defensive. But at least you have time to get everything just right. The sadness will pass I promise, take care of yourself x

unknownscot · 12/10/2020 18:48

Thank you all so much. We've taken today for sofa & movies and will concentrate tomorrow on getting the best environment for our one little embryo.

You are correct, we are freeze all with FET. I've yet to hear about the FET timings as I have irregular periods so they want to do HRT FET.

x

Sunbird24 · 13/10/2020 09:14

How is everyone feeling this morning?

@unknownscot I hope you slept ok and are ready to go into battle for your little embryo. It already sounds like a fighter to have made it this far.

@ThePurpleFairy has the nausea gone down a bit now? Hope things are starting to ease up for you!

@Dinky06 how are you getting on with those injections now, any less sore?

ThePurpleFairy · 13/10/2020 10:06

Thanks to everyone who has asked about me, I can confirm I am feeling much better today Smile not 100% but definitely better than yesterday!

Hoping anyone getting phonecalls today get the results they wish for. I feel like the wait for Thursday is coming both quicker than I would like and taking a million years at the same time, I’ve even found myself bargaining with the universe that if I get a good number I’ll pay it forward Hmm

mayihavesomecakeplease · 13/10/2020 12:44

I got 25 eggs out this morning, so it's definitely a freeze all for me! Feeling a bit rough but glad it's over, as it's the bit I felt most anxious for.
