Anyone else waiting on Homerton Fertility to open?

New referral to Homerton Hosp for fertility and the hospital is still not taking new patients, I've been told to call back in September. I am so exasperated, we've been waiting 6 months now. Is anyone in the same boat?

Hi @NewnameNelly I’m a patient there for nearly two years and they are literally still closed where other NHS centres have opened. It’s annoying and most patients have left. I am due a laparoscopy before IVF and finally got a call yesterday for a appointment in two weeks. So they are probably focusing on the current patient list before moving on to new. Not impressed with them at all! Good luck

NewnameNelly · 15/08/2020 11:32

@chicaXS thank you so much for replying! I completely understand those already on the list take priority, it is just so frustrating how the main fertility clinic (north of the river) has barely opened. DH is waiting on a urology referral which have said point blank they are not opening for the foreseeable 😳 we are going to have to go private. Otherwise, we are ready to go. It just feels like such a long hurl, there's all the time trying naturally, all the tests, waiting on the referral and now waiting on the Homerton to open. I hope you get on to ivf soon 🤞🍀

Hi! Anyone has started her treatment yet at homerton. I am about to start and fill very nervous 😬

Veex21 · 20/03/2021 13:28

Hey,

I had ivf at homerton and had my son in 2017. I also had a frozen cycle in 2019 but unfortunately lost my twins at 19 weeks.
I went back to the clinic at the beginning 2020 to start another full round but like you have been delayed for over a year.

I have just started progynova 2 days ago so I am on the road to it again.

Where is everyone at now?

KruT · 20/03/2021 15:51

Hi! I am about to start too in Homerton and been waiting since December 2019.. delayed due to Covid. Now waiting my period and should call them and start progynova mid April , hope they are not going to delay again. Feeling very nervous

Good to have someone in the same boat /and hospital :)

Veex21 · 20/03/2021 19:08

Hi, I dont think they will delay again. They also said that things should be much quicker as theres no really a waiting list. Sounds like you are only a few weeks behind me.

KruT · 24/03/2021 14:24

Veex21 Thanks for replying! I had a call yesterday , first scan done today and I am starting Meriofert this evening. No progynova for me.
Looks like they are not so busy as I'm staring a month early.
Where are you at now

Veex21 · 24/03/2021 15:27

@KruT hey glad you are starting and the ball is properly rolling. Why didnt you go on progynova?
I have been on progynova for 6 days and have my scan in the morning and then I should be starting the same injections as you on Friday!

Veex21 · 24/03/2021 15:28

Are you doing frozen or fresh?
I am doing frozen so should be 2-3 months until transfer.

KruT · 24/03/2021 15:56

I was suppose to be as same as you, I called them on Monday as my period started on Sunday. Yesterday the nurse called me and told me I don't need progynova and we can start straight away. Bloods and scan done this morning and given today's injection. Next scan booked for next Wednesday.

I am doing fresh if all good.

Veex21 · 24/03/2021 16:39

@KruT how are you feeling? Do you mind saying what the reason is you're having IVF? I am doing frozen because I have pcos and would be at risk for over stimulation.

Homerton are slow but I have had two successful transfer with them although my last pregnancy ended in late miscarriage (nothing to do with ivf).

KruT · 24/03/2021 17:38

Sorry for your lost.
To be honest I am very excited and nervous at the same time, I didn't expect to start early than planed after all the waiting. We've started investigations exactly 2 years ago...
The reason for IVF is male infertility, he is diagnosed with severe oligoasthenozoospermia. All fine with me except my 40 years :), I have two children (already teens) naturally conceived from previous partner.
I am at risk for over stimulation as well as the doctor saw 20 follicles today and if all grow I should go for frozen -thats what she explained.

Have Homerton offered you TILT?

Veex21 · 24/03/2021 17:40

Thank you.
What is TILT?
20 follicles is very good. How would you feel about waiting for a few months for frozen if that happens? When I had my first ivf I waited 6 months for frozen! They have reassured me it will be 2/3 months because there are no waiting list so that's one positive.

KruT · 25/03/2021 17:23

TILT - Time lapse imaging technology is incubator with build in camera, microscope and computer so the embryos can be assessed without having to take them out of it. If we decide to go for it 50% of embryos will be in it and 50% in standard incubator.

In other situation (no Covid and under 40) I would prefer to go for frozen. If it happens I will definitely ask them to be in 6-8 weeks.
But I don't want to do plans that far Grin
Hope no delays for you.

Veex21 · 25/03/2021 17:59

They gave us the leaflet today for joining the trial. Unsure if we will- dont want to be a Guinea pig especially when we have had 2 successful cycles there. Will think about it. Today we went. I didn't have a bleed after the progynova so they took a pregnancy test (negative of course) and said I can still start stims tomorrow and if I dont start my period to call again Tuesday. Have my scan on Thursday.

It all felt very impersonal today.

Veex21 · 25/03/2021 18:00

Did they say frozen is 6-8 weeks wait?

Ganiyatou · 24/04/2021 00:11

@Veex21 @KruT how are you both doing! I am also at homerton. i had failed fresh circle in March and waiting for my follow up appointment to know when I can start my frozen circle.

Veex21 · 24/04/2021 06:50

Hi, sorry to hear about your cycle. How are you feeling?

I had a disastrous cycle this month and ended up with no blasts. Somehow I went from having loads of follicles on scans to them only collecting 6 eggs on the day.

I want to try once more but not sure if I should try another clinic.

KruT · 24/04/2021 10:17

@Ganiyatou I am 12dp5dt today. Luckily I had fresh transfer even dough the OSHH. I felt quite well after the transfer but now my OHSS symptoms are back. OTD on Monday for me.

@Veex21 sorry for you failed cycle. Unfortunately you cannot predict what will be collected.

I don't have anything to complain about the clinic, the only downside for me is they are not very informative. I had only one update after the EC and the on the day of the transfer. No grading of embryos and no update for the embryos for freezing.

Ganiyatou · 30/04/2021 10:48

@Veex21 thank you I started to feel better. Sorry to hear about your failed circle. If it make you feel better you can change clinic.
@KruT how are you doing ! You can ask the nurses about the grade of your embryos they will tell you. Usually they only update you about the frozen embryos if you have one.

Minipulse · 30/06/2021 22:26

Hi @Veex21i’m thinking to do second ivf (frozen embryo transfer) with homerton (1st ivf successful).
Can i know how much for frozen embryo transfer in homerton now?

Aliceinivfland · 20/10/2021 20:03

Hi there I've had a really rubbish experience with Homerton so far. I too had 17 follicles which went to 5 and I decided to abandon the cycle. We are nhs, the service is shocking and our issue is male infertility. I really want to be moved to UCH but I'm out of their catchment area.

K8dferXdder · 12/11/2021 12:38

Hi there, does anyone have an idea whether for frozen embryo cycle we need to be on hormonal medication to prepare the body or will they transfer it fairly quickly during my natural ovulation time? Thanks 🙏

Everythingcrossed2021 · 02/12/2021 16:17

Hi all. I have my first appointment with Homerton fertility clinic in 2 weeks. I don’t really know what to expect from the first appointment? We will be on our 15th cycle by then, both early 30s no known problems with either of us, apart from my subclinical hypothyroidism which I’m on meds for
Now. Will I have more scans? Will they suggest other avenues before IVF? If IVF is the option, how long can we expect to get started with that? Thank you.
