Anyone else waiting on Homerton Fertility to open?

New referral to Homerton Hosp for fertility and the hospital is still not taking new patients, I've been told to call back in September. I am so exasperated, we've been waiting 6 months now. Is anyone in the same boat?

Did anyone else try to go along to the zoom session this evening? I waited but wasn’t ever let in by the organiser so assume they didn’t run it?

hopefully2021 · 12/04/2022 17:58

@Albylolo I have the same, I'm just about to leave the meeting as looks like they are not running it today
Would have been nice for the staff to let us know!

Albylolo · 12/04/2022 19:20

@hopefully2021 I hadn’t spotted your post! Glad I wasn’t the only one waiting but as you say would have been nice for them to let us know it wasn’t on, especially as patients will have so many questions following their service update!

hopefully2021 · 14/04/2022 11:37

Has anyone heard of where they are being referred too yet and the timeline? Theres a new notice on the website saying referrals will be made to Imperial or Barts hospital

Albylolo · 18/04/2022 15:22

@hopefully2021 I haven’t heard anything no, have you?

hopefully2021 · 21/04/2022 08:50

@Albylolo not yet, its so frustrating not knowing what is going on - fingers crossed we hear something soon

hopefully2021 · 23/04/2022 15:58

Hi all, coming on to share some good news - I have had my first positive ever since TTC in June 2020. I had convinced myself IVF would be the only way for me to get my baby so am in complete shock, I just wanted to say to you all please remain positive and don't lose hope. I hope your journeys to motherhood go smoothly whether naturally or via IVF and not to give up hope xxx

@hopefully2021 congratulations! This is a brilliant news!

Has anyone been contacted by the homerton to discusse the different options between moving hospitals or staying with the homerton?

Albylolo · 02/05/2022 08:12

@hopefully2021 ah that’s so wonderful to hear - congratulations and thank you for sharing with us!

@Francesmalin I still have not received anything from the Homerton about options for moving :(

Chooksy22 · 23/08/2022 09:33

Hi all, I've just been referred to Homerton and after having finaly got an appointmnt in August (we had booked it in March) thye have said that clinic is still closed and that IVF treatments are now for December 2023! Has anyone else heard anything different? Trying to figure out whats best option wise!

K8dferXdder · 23/08/2022 12:13

But I don’t understand why your GP is referring you to a closed clinic?!? Can you not ask your GP to move you to another clinic? Some people moved to Barts I think but we moved privately elsewhere. Good luck.

KL2222 · 23/08/2022 12:32

@Chooksy22 hello, after 6 month wait we had our first consultation at the Homerton September 2021 was meant to start ivf September 22 and was then told it's been moved to September 23 at the earliest. I contacted my GP to see if I could move hospitals but my CCG is contracted to the Homerton only. Think due to the backlog from Covid and staffing issues they are hugely struggling. Good luck x

Justrelax2022 · 23/08/2022 16:43

Hey! If you’re able to go private I would recommend you do so. They are working on a skeleton staff and the treatment you should be receiving is not met. They got back in touch with patients who already have frozen embryos there (me) and after two failed transfers they’re still not willing to consider basic options such as hormonal blood testing or extra monitoring scans during a cycle. They are only doing transfers on two days per week so you get your embryo when they see they can fit in (not in line with your body and when that should be)
after the heartbreak of waiting for 12 months, to then having treatment and them closing down with our frozen embryos there, to now two failed cycles (after being told I was ‘young’ and ‘straightforward’) we are at rock bottom and having to fork out to go private in the hopes it results in success for us.
take my advice and don’t wait for Homerton if you’re in a position where you don’t have to! It’s been traumatic.

Chooksy22 · 23/08/2022 20:52

Thank you for the advise that's what we were weighing up too going through it all only to then be on another waiting list of unknowns! May I ask where you have gone private? Always good to go with a referral as soo many on the Internet!

Chooksy22 · 23/08/2022 20:52

Thanks for the heads up!

Chooksy22 · 23/08/2022 20:53

I know I'm going to call again and see apparently it's not even on their system that they are closed! So everyone is still being referred there! Absolute madness and upsetting

K8dferXdder · 23/08/2022 23:09

We transferred our frozen embryo to Lister in Chelsea but unfortunately had a missed miscarriage :( will try with a fresh cycle soon. I was considering CRGH as a next option as 2 of my friends had success with the UCLH through the NHS which is the private wing (basically same doctors). ARGC are really good too I read lots of success stories and they offer monitoring till 12 weeks of pregnancy which unfortunately Lister don’t offer to us :( so if I become pregnant again, I want to be in good hands for monitoring and not to lose another baby. Doing some research at the moment. With Homerton I would also say don’t waste your time as they delayed me so many years already, I was 37 when I started with them and now 40 with still no luck! They are really slow and will waste your time. Run away from this Fertility clinic if you can afford a private cycle. Otherwise I had a midwife there and they were OK but they are completely separate units. The fertility clinic is a No due to long wait times. Otherwise they created 2 embies fir us which unfortunately non of them worked. The doctors and nurses were good but not worth the whole wait.

Justrelax2022 · 24/08/2022 12:52

We’re going to go with ARGC! They’re quite intense and very expensive but we are at the point where we need to feel like we’re being listened to and monitored properly/in good hands. Feel old and destroyed at this point, I’m annoyed at myself for waiting around for Homerton.
