TTC WITH PCOS

Hi everyone!
Just thought I'd make a thread for anyone TTC with pcos. I have not formally been diagnosed with the condition but pretty sure I am due to my irregular periods and the way my ovaries look on a scan.
I came off the pill August last year and had regular periods and then they just completely stopped in January. I had to have a tablet to induce a period in the end.
Anyway it's been a while now and hard to try and conceive when you know you probably aren't even ovulating.
Any body in a similar position?
Also anyone has any tips/ supplements that might help?

Thanks 😁

@Tillyisabelle2018 We are definitely becoming friends in arms throughout this! Yes I think I might test again Saturday, and then if I keep getting symptoms once a week until my period comes. My prescription will end in about 4 weeks, so will check in with the doctor then to see whats up. sigh

How is everyone?
Any success with TTC?
Any supplement recommendations....

@swirls3468 well I've been taking inofolic and metformin for a while now but still nothing. I have the clomid prescription ready to start taking soon

How are you?

swirls3468 · 14/09/2020 19:02

@Tillyisabelle2018 it's a hard journey isn't it!!
Been taking infolic and been having periods but not ovulating. Waiting for my appointment 29th October !! Going insane in the meantime.
Can I ask what tests you had to do before getting the clomid? I'm hoping they'll prescribe me that on that appointment!!!
Good luck with it all 😘

@swirls3468 I just had an internal scan, AMH bloods and my husband had a semen analysis.

I had one period just after I started the inofolic but it's been over 7 weeks now and still nothing..

It's really hard not to lose hope!

I've had those things done so hopefully will be able to get clomid.
How long have you been trying to conceive? Was your AMH high out of interest?

It's really hard not to lose hope. I agree. I am
Month 13 now.

@swirls3468 I got my results over the phone so they couldn't give specifics just that it was 'normal'

We've been trying to conceive for 12 months now but I was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 years ago. Fell pregnant completely by surprise nearly 3 years ago so now have a 2 year old. I knew it wasn't going to be easy to fall pregnant the second time because I don't seem to ovulate!

WolfClan · 15/09/2020 07:35

@swirls3468 and @Tillyisabelle2018
Can you have a period without ovulating? I though if you have a period it meant you had ovulated ☹️

Tillyisabelle2018 · 15/09/2020 07:54

@WolfClan at this stage I've read and been told so much that I have no idea! I would've thought so but just that it's hard to pinpoint when if you don't have a regular cycle!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 15/09/2020 08:55

"Can you have a period without ovulating?"

Yes.

Well I have been having periods regularly since taking inositol. And I had a progesterone blood test to see if I'm ovulating and they said I am not. So yes I think you can have periods without ovulating unfortunately.

Ah - good to know. I’m going to speak to my doctor next week in any case and will ask about this then/ ask about blood testing more

NicotineRushh · 15/09/2020 15:29

Is everyone's GP's/specialists open for treatment again? Husband had a semen analysis just before the pandemic, and has been unable to get his test results since. His GP said they aren't dealing with it until this is over as it is a non emergency and clinics aren't open anyway.

Requested the results direct from the hospital over 2 months ago but haven't received them yet either.

Everything is on hold whilst this is going on it seems. Which I understand, the problem is I'm a key worker so the rest of life has continued as normal throughout the whole pandemic except this one part.

Tillyisabelle2018 · 15/09/2020 15:48

@NicotineRushh we've used a private clinic so had no problems or delays so far..

MF1981 · 15/09/2020 16:14

No delays from our private clinic either. Since the government said fertility treatments can re-start I think most people have found things have started moving again albeit quite slowly. Hope you get sorted soon.

WolfClan · 15/09/2020 17:07

@NictotineRushh We're NHS and my husband has just had a semen test and blood tests booked in for this week and next week so everything should be moving back to normal. Perhaps try chasing again?

Newbie0818 · 15/09/2020 18:19

Hi all, have been quiet on here for a while but hope everyone's ok. Sorry to those still looking for answers, it can be so lonely.

I don't know what on earth my body is doing but I've been spotting on and off all day so af is imminent. BUT I've booked an apt with the doctor to start fertility intervention and that's making me feel positive. I was quite scared but the lady who booked it was super nice and really helpful which is lovely. The doctor is going to give me an initial telephone consultation and then ask us both to go in for further tests and treatment options. I feel like something is finally going to happen 🤞🏼

swirls3468 · 23/09/2020 21:12

Hi guys !!
Wondering if some of you experienced with opk can tell me if this is positive or not? Ive never had a positive one in my life and did one on the off chance after work today because my boobs were achy and was due on period 3 days ago. I think I might just be ovulating late.. but who knows really with pcos.

Hi @swirls3468 not quite positive yet, the line furthest from the handle bit (red) should be darker or at least the same as the control line. Looks good though so keep using them every 4 hours and you might catch your peak!

swirls3468 · 25/09/2020 10:28

@Newbie0818 hmm that's interesting. Is it possible I missed my peak and can you get this kind of test just after the peak?
Because I felt other signs of ovulation before I even got this result on the test. I'm actually due on period so confused. Don't think I've ever ovulated before.
Also my boobs really hurt is that an ovulation sign too?

OP posts:
Newbie0818 · 25/09/2020 17:35

@swirls3468 yes you can get a gradual decline in opk lines after peak, and it's good you've got some positive signs! Have you done a hcg test? Just a thought if you're due as sometimes opk's can pick up a bfp. Did you have any ewcm?

swirls3468 · 25/09/2020 23:42

@Newbie0818 nooo not done a preg test just yet. Cus not sure when I ovulated if I did?
Yes did get EWCM but like the day before I did that opk. It's a minefield!!! Xxxxx

Hi everyone, hope you don’t mind me joining in if the thread is still active.

I was diagnosed yesterday with PCOS which is a complete shock as I thought I had no symptoms at all, I came off the pill Nov 2019, had constant bleeding so I had an ultrasound in Feb 2020 which came back normal and have been TTC since then. I was referred for cycle monitoring this cycle and after my bloods and ultrasound last week the doctor said she can see approx 20 follicles when there should be 4-6 and my AMH was 35 and the normal is around 10.

Just wondering if anyone could tell me if you can have lean PCOS and still be insulin resistant? My BMI is 23 but everything I’m reading is telling me to lose weight and cut carbs but is this necessary if I’m 5ft 2 and 9 stone?

I’m also confused how my feb 2020 ultrasound came back normal and now my Oct 2020 shows immature follicles, wouldn’t they have always been there? Very new to this!!

Croselle · 29/10/2020 16:45

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in here for months (sorry) life has been hectic and I have been struggling a lot truthfully.

I started taking Inositol, Selenium, CoQ10 alongside my regular supplements Folic Acid, Vit D and some others. My cycles started to become more regular at 35 days which was an improvement from them ranging from 28 to 70 days.

I finally got my HyCoSy appointment in September and they discovered a large cyst on my right ovary but was so happy to hear my tubes are clear and I do have an OK follicle count on my left ovary.

Partner and I tried really hard over the last two months, doing all the things we were recommended to do. I was due to be given Clomid to help boost ovulation but we were then told it wouldn't be prescribed as there's an issue with my partner's side of things (despite him being told everything was fine when he went for his test) and they want to remove the cyst on my ovary as they're concerned by it. The consultant said at the moment it would be highly unlikely we'd get pregnant :(

Trying to stay positive but it's hard, just feels like it's so tough. I am waiting for my period cycle is longer this time which also feels like a setback, I've had no real PMS this month, usually get a week of sore breasts, bloating etc.. but nothing. I had a brief bit of bleeding yesterday CD39 but nothing since but some mild cramps and lower backache. My hormones are going wild, crying so much and irritable and eating badly, low mood.

Just feel so drained and now I have to wait for surgery, the partner is taking some recommended supplements to improve his side... it's all so exhausting!
