Just that really, I know it's a difficult time for so many people, but clinics shuttered just as DP finally agreed to get his semen analyisis done. My progesterone was normal, and I have regular periods, so I don't think Clomid would be an option for us. We've been trying for a year and a half, and I am 35 on Saturday.

If we do get a referral, and need IVF, how long will that take? So many questions?

Thanks

@mabel9 thank you.
They told me the day they are opening that I could start where we left off in March and I should contact them when AF arrives. I messaged them today, so I'm hoping to hear back from them tomorrow.
Did you have your treatment cancelled or are you a new patient?

mabel9 · 28/05/2020 20:55

Hi @lillibeth86 I had treatment cancelled. I contacted them today again and they just said I’ve to to wait and the nurses will
be in contact in the next 3 months.

lillibeth86 · 28/05/2020 21:11

@mabel9 that is so weird. I talked to them two weeks ago and they took my last cycle dates to get me started again.
Maybe things changed since then and I won't start this month... I'm a bit worried now.

mabel9 · 28/05/2020 21:20

Hi @lillibeth86 I wouldn’t worry, I’m getting IUI for male infertility so that may why? 🤞 for you.

lillibeth86 · 28/05/2020 21:24

@mabel9 I'm getting IUI as well. In March it got cancelled two days before insemination.
I'll wait if they reply to my message tomorrow. I sent a message through the portal since their phone was always busy. Normally they call back quite quickly but they haven't today.

mabel9 · 28/05/2020 21:34

@lillibeth86 how funny. I was just about to book my iui for the next week so maybe because I didn’t have an appointment set in stone they have put me down the list. I hope you get some answers tomorrow and can get going with your treatment ASAP.

mabel9 · 28/05/2020 21:39

Although I had all the investigations, counselling etc and being doing all that with them from October.

lillibeth86 · 28/05/2020 21:48

@mabel9
I'm in a same sex marriage and we have our sperm stored with them. Maybe that's why and we had everything sorted and I was in the middle of my iui cycle when it stopped. So fingers crossed.
I'll let you know, maybe I learn something that would be of any value for you on the phone.

mabel9 · 29/05/2020 08:11

That would be great, thank you.
We are also having to use donor sperm, we just missed the cut off and ours is waiting in Denmark (although shipping is fine so I don’t understand why GCRM can’t receive it yet).
Good luck!

@BeHereNowx32 @BambiOnIce80 well it has been confirmed this morning that I will be on a day 21 protocol starting 16thJune. However I was told this may change because they still don't have the complete go ahead to resume practices, despite the call from them last week, at the time they seemed quite confident it would be quite straightforward. I have been advised to call before my appointment to make sure it will still be going ahead.

BambiOnIce80 · 29/05/2020 09:25

Thanks for the update @Daisz ❤️ How are you feeling about the day 21 thing? I know there's nothing anyone can do, but it's a bit annoying to say they're going ahead but then they're not actually ready (and may not be in 3 weeks time?!).

I really do appreciate the update - it helps me get my head in order to not expect anything to start happening soon (and that there's absolutely no point in me calling them for an update at the moment!).x

@LouScot it was ridiculously hot, wasn't it?! I'd been working in doors all day and could see it was sunny, but I was expecting the usually Scottish chill breeze to offset the sun - BIG mistake!! That was the hardest 8.5k of my life! 🥵 Must remember to check if it's going to be the hottest day of the year before I start off on my next run! 😂

BeHereNowx32 · 29/05/2020 10:11

@Daisz that’s so confusing. Would have been better if they could have warned us over the phone that there could be a delay. And you could mentally prepare for it. Hope you’re ok.

I’m still waiting on my period to start. So, wonder what they will say when I phone on Monday.

@BambiOnIce80 do you feel better for doing the run?! It was crazy hot.

BambiOnIce80 · 29/05/2020 14:14

I hope you get some positive news on Monday @BeHereNowx32 🤞

I did feel better for the run afterwards, but certainly not whilst I was doing it! 🏃‍♀️🥵😂 I'm supposed to be trying to run 12k on Sunday (which would be the furthest I've ever run), but I'm not going beat myself up if I don't manage it ☀

I hope everyone's enjoying this fabulous weather - it's scorchio out there! 😎

Daisz · 29/05/2020 15:48

@BambiOnIce80 I think I would have preferred the normal method of fet, because that is the way my last successful cycle was done, and I don't like changing things that work, however it does give me a bit of time to prepare, kind of let myself go a bit since I thought that was it for this year at least. You seem to be doing all the right things and so was I until my cycle was cancelled, need to find some motivation, but it is hard when everything is still so vague and up in the air.

@BeHereNowx32 when I called Wednesday they told me they only had the go ahead to open from the 1stJune, which just makes the whole conversation about how if my af did not arrive by the 1stJune to call and I would be given some medication to bring it on, and that my period would be due next week as that would be week 10 (ie this week) and that they would bring me in Asap, (think you were told similar) just nonsense.

Then when I called today I was then told they can only open from the 15thJune, but that still needs to be confirmed and although I have been given an appointment for the 16thJune that may change and will need to confirm before going. The nurse I spoke to said that things change all the time and nothing is set in stone, but regardless if they open earlier now, I shall have to keep the appointment on the 16th due to it being day 21. Perhaps you will be taken sooner if things change before then. Here is hoping.

BeHereNowx32 · 01/06/2020 09:45

How is everyone?
I just phoned the hospital, and the nurse said to phone back on Wednesday. They’re having a meeting tomorrow, because nhs Lothian isn’t sure that they’re ready to go ahead with any treatment yet... if all ok, then I should get seen on Thursday/ Friday. To her tablet to bring on period.

So.... no idea what will happen yet. I will let you know what they say on Wednesday 🤞

BeHereNowx32 · 01/06/2020 09:55

*to get tablet to bring on period.
I’m really hoping for good news for everyone xx

Daisz · 01/06/2020 12:22

@BeHereNowx32 Thanks for the update. Sounds like they are still no further forward from last week, when I called. Good luck!

BambiOnIce80 · 01/06/2020 15:54

Thanks so much for the update @BeHereNowx32 ❤️ Let's hope NHS Lothian do the right thing and support the clinic reopening at the meeting tomorrow 🤞 It's crazy to think that by Thursday you could either be starting treatment or being told everything's still cancelled - not much difference between the two, is there?! 🤯

theotherfossilsister · 02/06/2020 11:42

Hello, just to say I've not forgotten this thread and am watching all updates with interest. Period due Saturday or Sunday for me and still holding out silly hopes that it won't arrive and dp will be granted stay of execution for his SA. Silly really as month eighteen.

Just read thread about the woman who didn't know she was pregnant and felt insane jealousy, which is ridiculous, but it's the feeling of having done everything 'perfectly' for eighteen months, and then someone has an accident just having sex once. The injustice burns, even as I know logically her situation is really not great for her.

If we do decide to go private as referral will probably take ages now, please can someone tell me how much it will cost? Seen wildly different prices, and imagining we will need all interventions.

Also, if so has a problem with SA does it mean icsi is the only way? And might we get fast tracked because of my RA and being 35?

OP posts:
LouScot · 02/06/2020 12:43

Hi @theotherfossilsister, oh that sounds a distressing thread for you to have read. It's not fair how things some people so desperately want come so easily to others.

Re going private, Gcrm have said that if you were a brand new patient you'd probably be looking at 3 months ish, although possibly sooner expecially if you can take any last minute initial appointments.

LouScot · 02/06/2020 12:46

Sorry, you were asking about cost. Edinburgh was 5k all on I believe. Gcrm you pay ivf or icsi to them and buy drugs from a recommend pharmacy. Maybe cheaper overall, not sure. I've seen loads of English clinics have "special offers" on, just a shame we've got so few clinics here x

BambiOnIce80 · 02/06/2020 13:07

There's nothing silly about holding onto hope that this month might be the month @theotherfossilsister ❤️ AF is due for me anytime from yesterday and I still can't help hoping that this time will be different (even after 6 years of TTC!🤷🏻‍♀️). I'm staying off of the other boards because I can't cope with the 'oops, I got pregnant' threads... At. All.

I'm not sure how much the female investigative tests cost if you were to self fund at NHS Lothian (I had those through normal NHS channels), but according to the price list I got from when we self funded, SA is £100, IVF is £4875 & ICSI is £5175 (including all consultations, drugs and virology testing). We're not male factor infertility, but my understanding is that ICSI is pretty necessary if that turns out to be the case.

Waiting list wise at Lothian, I noticed a lady on Facebook commenting on EFREC's most recent update (which RonRon posted) saying that she should have had her first cycle last month (not sure if she meant April or May 🤔). She's apparently had a phone call from the clinic to say they won't get that cycle until early 2021 💔 Based on that, it sounds like GCRM would be a lot faster.

It'll be interesting to see what the update is over the next few days after today's meeting 🔮 Based on the comment from the lady on Facebook, I'm taking no news to be good news so far! 😥

theotherfossilsister · 02/06/2020 14:13

Oh no, poor woman. I guess that means new referrals will have a two year wait at least, which would make me thirty seven, plus however long is takes to get SA and tube scan, so maybe as long as three.

I hope you all hear something soon. It will take us a year to save six thousand, and only if we really scrimp. Part of me wants an October holiday in the naive hope it will happen then.

Wish I could save that money for baby, rather than treatment which might not work. Calling about SA today.
