Hi all,

Been ttc (unsuccessfully!) for over a year and just found out there's a problem with DH sperm (low mobility and zero normal forms), so awaiting referral to fertility clinic to seek further help/advice.

Just wondered if there's anyone else in a similar situation about to embark on this journey too?

Also similar success stories welcome :) x

@chochaw hey Hun, I’m 6dpo nothing yet, pretty sure this isn’t my month, I feel the exact same as I do every month, if I start spotting in a couple of days then I know I’m out! My back hurts but Iv been painting fences so pretty sure that’s why lol!
Your signs sound promising!! I hope you get your bfp! X

Etonmess20 · 07/05/2020 08:08

@Chochaw Hi, I'm 4dpo today & have sore nipples but not a massive amount of symptoms really. Im trying hard to not lose hope, only time will tell if there's going to be a BFP this month!!
Fingers crossed for you, those symptoms sound very exciting!!! Will you wait until AF is late to test? X

Chochaw · 07/05/2020 22:13

@Etonmess20 I'm scared to test. I really don't want to be disappointed .I'm setting myself to to fail here by getting so excited and convincing myself I am pregnant. I attended a virtual baby shower today for a girl at my work and then I have another on Saturday for my best friend. Baby showers and zoom are both not my idea of fun. Another 3 weeks of lockdown confirmed here today 🙁. That'll mean my clinic won't open.x

Morpho123 · 07/05/2020 23:38

Hi girls, well the only thing Iv noticed (7dpo) is bunged up nose but a really strong smell. I could smell a reed diffuser in my lounge which I normally can’t, I asked my husband if he had turned the sticks as it smelt so strong and he hadn’t. And then we went for a walk, and I could smell gas from about 5 houses, I was worried they all had a gas leak and thought that’s odd that I could smell it so strong but he couldn’t???
Anyway other than that nothing, might just be my mind playing tricks though! Iv had a bit of creamy Cm today (tmi sorry). But don’t feel different otherwise. I’ll test Monday (11dpo) because we have fertility tests Tuesday and I want to be sure before I do those! Xx

Etonmess20 · 08/05/2020 06:26

@Chochaw I'm the same, I don't test because I don't like the disappointment either!!
Oh that sounds like hell, zoom & a baby shower 😬 we use teams a lot at work now & I hate constantly being on the camera 😂 I have too much of a resting bitch face lol!
Are you waiting for NHS or private clinic to reopen? The NHS hospital I am under currently reopened yesterday & called me to book me in for a HSG in early June

@Morpho123 those symptoms do sounds promising, fingers crossed for you. What tests do you have on Tuesday?

Chochaw · 08/05/2020 07:31

@etonmess20 I'm waiting for the NHS clinic to reopen to start treatment. I've booked an online consultation with private clinic but it looks like they are only offering testing just now- not treatment and I am reluctanct to pay to get tested again when we already have had all the tests and know that there is nothing 'wrong' just unexplained infertility.

I caved and did a test this morning. BFN but I knew it would be. I have been pregnant 3x and never get a positive till I am late by a few days.

@Morpho123 I am praying for your BFP. I also had the creamy discharge yesterday.

Etonmess20 · 08/05/2020 07:55

@Chochaw fingers crossed of my MHS is beginning to reopen fertility stuff then yours will too. Whereabouts are you based?
I'm a little crampy & bloated today with sore boobs, more than likely just clomid symptoms but can't help but spot the symptoms!
I agree that you shouldn't pay to get tested again if I was you, as easy as it is for me to say that x

Morpho123 · 08/05/2020 08:13

@Etonmess20 @Chochaw
I have amh test, vitamin d, thyroid, internal follicle count and husband has another SA. We have gone private to get these tests- they are doing tests only no further treatment- we had these booked before lockdown but they got cancelled because of rona. We get the results Thursday and hoping for some improvement on morphology!!

My nose keeps having little bleeds too- I’m not sure if it’s hayfever irritating my nose- weird about the strong smells though. But I don’t look into anything anymore! I’ll wait til Monday and see but I dunno, I don’t feel pregnant.

@etonmess20 great news your clinic has booked in your hsg! Gets things rolling again!

@chochaw today is a little early so don’t worry try and hold out as long as you can! And defo don’t pay to get tested again xxx

Etonmess20 · 08/05/2020 08:25

@Morpho123 super exciting to have all those tests & know you'll get the results so soon after! It's just nice to feel like you're making progress isn't it?
Have you been doing anything to increase DP morphology?
Some of the symptoms are so obviously classic pregnancy symptoms but I always try to remain cautious, gets you that way TTC so long doesn't it?

Chochaw · 08/05/2020 08:50

@etonmess20 I'm in North Ayrshire in Scotland. What about you?

Symptom spotting is the worst. No more tests for me unless AF is late. I have spent a fortune on tests over the years 🤣.

Morpho123 · 08/05/2020 08:51

@Etonmess20 defo makes you feel better when things get moving, really I just want to know if his Morphology has improved. He has been on a selection of vitamins for about 6 months. They say sperm renews every 3 months- so if there’s no improvement then the vitamins are a waste of money 😂
I try not to google symptoms because it doesn’t make me feel better, especially when all looks good then AF comes. 😭 8dpo today 🤞🏽 Fingers crossed for us all xxx

Etonmess20 · 08/05/2020 09:29

@Morpho123 definitely!!

Is anyone upto anything nice on this sunny bank holiday?

willithappen · 08/05/2020 10:46

@Morpho123 let us know when you get your results! Super interested in the morphology part also!

@Chochaw I'm Scotland also, I have an appointment a week Monday but it's a video call and I thiiink it's the one where they will put us on the waiting list after. Not 100% sure though but I'm just glad to have my appointment back

Limeflower2 · 08/05/2020 13:14

Hi ladies I hope you are enjoying the sunny weather.
@etonmess20 @Morpho123 That's great you have tests booked in. Things are moving forward!

@Chochaw I was also looking into booking a consultation with another private clinic, the cost would be £270 over a zoom call and when they reopen they will offer a scan too. I'm not sure should I wait for my nhs private clinic to reopen or book a consultation elsewhere.

The HFEA/NHS situation is stressing me out. Hubby and I decided to take a break this cycle.:(

All the best ladies I hope we get some BFP soon!

Morpho123 · 09/05/2020 21:15

Hi girls how are we all keeping? I’m 9dpo, starting light brown spotting today so I know I’m out this cycle- I get this every month at the same time, wish I knew why! Anyway, got our tests Tuesday and an hours consultation Thursday for results and how to proceed going forward. It’s really getting me down, I hoped clomid would be the answer but the 0% morphology obviously hadn’t Improved otherwise I probably would have fallen by now.... anyway onwards and upwards! Xxx

Chochaw · 10/05/2020 08:57

@morpho123 I'm sorry you have your normal spotting. It's something you can ask the clinic about next week. I have no experience of this. I'm glad you have your tests to look forward to and will find results out quickly.

Nothing new from me. Still got a headache but that could be lockdown or hormones. I've not tested again yet. I can't bear the disappointment. I was so sure this was the month with the bleeding last week but I think it would have been too early for implantation. I'm due AF on Tuesday so we'll see then.x

Etonmess20 · 10/05/2020 09:11

Morning ladies,

@Morpho123 really pleased for you that you've got some tests coming up on Thursday, hopefully you'll get some answers & a bit of a plan going forward. One thing I tend to do is write a few questions down because I always leave appointments like that thinking "I wish I'd asked XYZ". Might be helpful, especially if there's a couple of points you wanted to touch on

@Chochaw sorry you're not feeling positive about this being your month ☹️ fingers crossed you're wrong, but I fully get the not wanting to test due to disappointment. It is very rare I would test because the negatives are horrible.

I'm 7dpo today & whilst I have "symptoms" they may well be clomid symptoms so trying not to get my hopes up! This TWW seems to be really dragging!

Limeflower2 · 10/05/2020 13:55

Hello ladies!
@Morpho123 Sorry to hear about your spotting. Good to know you'll have tests and consultation this week.
@Chochaw @Etonmess20 It's not easy during the TWW, I have my fingers crossed for you.
I'm going to ring my clinic tomorrow to see if there is any updates.xx

Etonmess20 · 10/05/2020 14:13

Hi @Limeflower2 hope you're doing well, fingers crossed your clinic has some form of update for you tomorrow x

Chochaw · 11/05/2020 07:37

AF is on it's way for me. I have cramping and back pain since last night so I think it might be here today. I'm so disappointed because I had my hopes up. I want to give up now but I have another month of clomid. Aw well. I'll give it another go 🙁

Morpho123 · 11/05/2020 08:27

@chochaw so sorry to hear that, I’m 10dpo, so I’ll be joining you this week! My spotting has been on and off- but I know I’m not pregnant. I wonder if the nhs follicle tracking will start up again? When af arrives im going to try calling because I should be given a trigger shot too! Iv got another two round of clomid although not feeling positive because of the bloody morphology!

We had an arguement last night, I felt really upset, my husband said he wants them to find something wrong with me at our tests tomorrow. I feel like he thinks if they found something with me, that would be better for him and easier as it’s not ‘his fault’ we can’t get pregnant then. Iv never made him feel like it’s down to him. But his almost made me feel like he wants it to be my problem.
Xx

Chochaw · 11/05/2020 09:29

@moroho123 Arguments are the worst when TTC. It makes you think 'why are we doing this?'. Men's egos are terrible. It is not any of your 'faults'. I think it is the cave man instinct in men that need to feel manly and having any issues with sperm is a big hit to them and they feel inadequate and embarrassed. We have unexplained infertility and that is just as frustrating because despite everything being good, we just can't get pregnant naturally. Before we had diagnosis we discussed doror sperm, eggs, surrogate etc and husband was a firm no to donor sperm. I was happy to go with any of the rest but I think it would have been too much for him of he had issues. After diagnosis I also offered him a divorce and opportunity to try move on and have a family with someone else but thankfully he declined 🤣.Very best of luck tomorrow. Let us know how it goes. X

Etonmess20 · 11/05/2020 10:01

@Morpho123 really sorry to hear about your argument ☹️ so hard & can see from both sides how difficult it must be. Suppose this is exacerbated by what's going on recently as people have a lot more free time to think/over think etc.

I suppose the remark about wanting them to find something wrong with you was a bit of a throwaway remark & not meant in the way it came across. I imagine that's just him verbalising how horrible it is for him thinking he's the one that causing the TTC issues ☹️
All you can do is look forward to your appointment tomorrow & stick together.
Sending lots of love ❤️

Morpho123 · 11/05/2020 10:16

@chochaw I haven’t offered divorce 😂 we have only been married just over a year so that’s not ideal lol! Funnily enough my husband is completely against sperm donor too, but I’m okay with egg donor if it came to it. Funny how we view it differently isn’t it!
Unexplained is so hard because you don’t know what to treat, I really feel for you! Did you fall naturally with your daughter? Or did you need help for that pregnancy too?

@Etonmess20 thank you, I agree I’m sure it’s a throwaway comment but things like that when I’m spotting and feel down about that really do hurt don’t they? I know he blames himself so I’m sure he has said it to try and get some feeling across. He doesn’t show much emotion normally, he is very much a ‘it is what it is’ type guy. I always ask ‘what if’ senarios and he gets so angry, he won’t discuss anything that isn’t fact lol!

Thank you girls for always making me feel better, this is such a good platform to vent! Xxx

Etonmess20 · 11/05/2020 10:27

@Morpho123 it's a difficult thing to communicate about, whilst it's hard for you to understand his feelings about the morphology issues, it is also hard for him to understand how hard it is when we have all the physical symptoms each month.
When you've got a lot of feelings bottled up as you don't like to talk about them (my DP included) they sometimes overflow & come out in not very tactful ways.
I think men just like to deal with what's in front of them sometimes & think about the worst case scenarios if/when they come. You also have to remember that he wants to take care of you so doesn't want to entertain talk of bad things that haven't even happened yet.
All you can do is be kind to eachother & yourselves, you're both dealing with it as best you can!
Always here for a vent, we all need one from time to time xxx
