Anyone doing ivf at 40+

We're considering doing a couple more rounds of ivf at 40.5 years old. We have 2 children already but still feel someone is missing.

Is anyone else starting or already having treatment at 40+ and would like to share the journey?

@Anxiousbuthopeful I was waiting for you to update ! That’s great news ! It only takes one , it only takes one 🤞🙏

dragonfly1978 · 25/11/2020 07:53

Think I am out for this month 😥😥. Am 11dp5dt of two high quality blastocysts and had a good positive at 7dp5dt and 9dp5dt but it's so faint this morning on an frer you can hardly see it. Am so upset. OTD isn't until Friday but will stop pessaries today as know I am not pregnant now. Fingers crossed for all of you x

Anxiousbuthopeful · 25/11/2020 07:55

thank you @Sunshinelove8! I am grateful for the support.

Anxiousbuthopeful · 25/11/2020 08:43

I am so sorry @dragonfly1978. That’s a horrible thing to happen .

Betty135 · 25/11/2020 09:15

I’m really sorry to hear that - it’s so tough. Take care of yourself.

Sunshinelove8 · 25/11/2020 09:20

My heart goes out to you , I’ve been there before watching progression and it’s the worst feeling . Big hugs x

lucieloos · 25/11/2020 10:04

@Anxiousbuthopeful ah yes sorry I forgot that you were going to blast! Fingers crossed for that little one. I'm ok thanks. It's the nipt test and scan on Friday so just eager to get that done and get the results and hopefully will be able to relax a little more.

@dragonfly1978 so sorry, I've had a couple of chemicals myself and they are horrible. Getting your hopes up only to have them dashed a couple of days later. Look after yourself.

@dragonfly1978 I'm so sorry about your tests. It's so heart wrenching when things don't work out. I've had all sorts of horrid situations with test too. This is such a hard road.

@Anxiousbuthopeful good news that your embryo is still going. Fingers crossed for Friday.

@lucieloos good luck with the NIPT. That feels like such a milestone.

Sunshinelove8 · 25/11/2020 12:25

@lucieloos good luck ! Hoping for a lovely healthy pregnancy for you x

Anxiousbuthopeful · 25/11/2020 13:27

Everything crossed for you @lucieloos!

dragonfly1978 · 25/11/2020 14:29

Thanks everyone. Did another test and the positive line is just so faint I don't see how I can have a BFP 😥😥. Have attached a photo

Sadly looks a no but I would test on day 14 with a test that says preg not preg

I texted on my bday think was 11 days. Negative. And no line On d day did a blue one and said I was preg

Was one

Betty135 · 25/11/2020 15:26

@dragonfly1978
It’s so tough - I can see I but it’s faint. For me I go to the clinic for a beta so I don’t have to stare at a stick and drive myself round in circles. I’d say test on official test day or if you are really unsure and can see a shadow - get a beta to put your mind at rest either which way. Good luck.

lucieloos · 25/11/2020 16:07

@dragonfly1978 I can see it too but if it's significantly lighter than previous tests you've taken I would say it's more than likely a chemical pregnant sadly. Definitely test again on the official day though and like someone said may be better to get one of the digis as by then they should be accurate and will tell you pregnant or not pregnant.

@dragonfly1978 hope you are okay today . This is a long and painful journey for us all , unfortunately. We keep going with hope that we will get our babies one day .
I had my day 5 update , two look like potentials for freezing ( having pgs) but they won’t know until this afternoon ( I wish they had just called this afternoon) Two are possible but lagging behind and won’t know til tomorrow. Do the lagging behind ones ever catch up or is it a bad sign they are behind anyway? X

IslandStars · 26/11/2020 09:42

Morning ladies, feeling a bit anxious as my cycle is now at the maximum length i would normally wait for it. I'm 2 days over on average, only once before have i gone this long. I had EC from my first round in October, then got my first bleed 6 days later, which is normal for Buserelin. So now i'm waiting for my 'normal' period to start so i can begin round 2.

Were your second periods delayed from EC and by how many days? I'm worried as Christmas is coming and i don't know what would happen if my EC fell around xmas or boxing day. It shouldn't come to that, as i'm doing mild stims/short protocol, but of course, we always worry about everything with IVF!

Anxiousbuthopeful · 26/11/2020 10:06

@Sunshinelove8! What wonderful news! I think laggards catch up a lot, and 2 or 4 blasts is amazing! I have also had my call, made it to blastocyst and freezing with no PGS. How are you @dragonfly1978? Any news today? @IslandStars - i know what you mean, I feel like my cycles are totally out of whack. What are you taking for mild stimms?

IslandStars · 26/11/2020 10:15

@Anxiousbuthopeful I took 150 Bemfola last time and will be keeping same protocol. I've always been very regular with cycles, but there's no sign of this one coming.

Well done on your blast!

Sunshinelove8 · 26/11/2020 10:27

@Anxiousbuthopeful congrats ! I have warm feeling about this one for you 🤞
Do you think the 2 are behind and bad quality if they couldn’t tell me this morning whether they could be frozen or not ? Worried I’ll end up with none x

Sunshinelove8 · 26/11/2020 10:28

I mean will much change by this afternoon? They must be borderline not good do you think? X

Betty135 · 26/11/2020 11:09

@dragonfly1978
I asked the clinic and they said D6 genetically ok had the same chance as day five genetically ok. It was just that there was a smaller chance of a D6 being ok Vs D5... make sense?
Congrats on two D5!

Sunshinelove8 · 26/11/2020 11:11

Hey @Betty135 was that meant for me? Thanks but the d5 aren’t even confirmed yet , they said this afternoon they will know if they are good enough to biopsy and freeze - I guess they may be behind too?
How long for your pgs results now - another week or so ? What was your reason for doing pgs again , I know most people don’t do it it seems ? X

Betty135 · 26/11/2020 11:12

@dragonfly1978
I am so sorry I meant to reply to sunshine.
I am very new at this and totally useless with technology.
I hope you are feeling ok today. It is a very painful journey but hang on in there. X

Betty135 · 26/11/2020 11:23

@Sunshinelove8
Yes. I’m sorry. I meant it for you -I must pay more attention.

Still time... they may be ready in a few hours you never know. I had some ready in the am and some in the pm.

My reason for the testing is that since turning 37 I have done 4 round of ivf plus 3iui plus 4/5 FET and I’m now 40 (DS IVF #3 - FET). I find the medicated FET and 2WW very stressful emotionally and strangely the medication harder on my body than the ivf and I just can’t do it anymore... so I thought I’d try PGT to give me more knowledge. In addition although I’d be happy to have twins... my husband has made it very clear he would so now we will only do SET.

Sunshinelove8 · 26/11/2020 11:28

@Betty135 yes I understand totally. I have found this stressful , I would struggle with a tww in case I was pregnant with a mmc on the horizon again . I know it’s still possible with pgs but it feels a bit better to have some better chance . This whole process is so draining . I’m routing for you that you have 1 normal at least 🤞🙏
