Infertility investigations/IVF in Scotland

Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are undergoing infertility investigations/IVF in Scotland because it seems as though it can vary from the rest of the UK.

DH and I have been TTC since June 2018. Started investigations around July 2019. I have a large ovarian cyst which will be removed, hopefully after Christmas. Getting a laparoscopy and dye to check tubes too. I have very regular periods and I am ovulating. DH has a low sperm count, but the ones he has are good quality. Still awaiting results from ultrasounds, genetic tests etc so still feel like we're at the beginning of our journey. This is our first time TTC and we've not had a hint of a BFP.

Anyone else?

Hi @willithappen, I’m good thanks hope you are too. Your welcome it’s a tough time again for just about seeing the starting line if you know what I mean but I can’t see the government wanting to be back into be same situation as we were from March to the summer where everything was at a standstill (but of course that is just my opinion).

I have been working from home since March doesn’t look like we will ever be going back, possible just for meetings that can’t be done online. I am totally in agreement with you it works in so well not having to explain why you won’t be in work till later or days off etc. or maybe moods with meds 🤣. I have flexi starting and finish too so it works in great.

Oh my goodness no what a shame the poor lady that would be heartbreaking, you really just don’t know, we hardly see anyone just when we need to go to the shops and only I go in but you just don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️ We can only do what we can do.

We are getting there though we have one foot in the starting block 🏃🏼‍♀️

@LabradorMum that's exactly it, we're at the start of the race and that's better than we were before! It will come our time soon

@willithappen we are lucky we are at the start of the journey 😁

I think being positive helps for sure, it think it will helps us all the way through!

Lol I have 6 extra days too was planning them for egg retrieval and transfer, we are just being organised 😂

I was thinking the same was thinking about planning a lunch 30 minute power nap but I may not want I get up again 🤣 Oh news at the dinning room table for months too my back, my butt 😂 set up in one of the spare room now my other half decorated it, have desk chair etc but I was laughing saying imagine if you have to decorate it again soon for a nursery, definitely not saying that will happen but he was like more painting 🤣

Been checking the Aberdeen website and :

Been hectic trying to sort out working from home again so hadn't checked yet but so so happy to hear this!!

On a side note I had my bloods taken, just in case anyone was wondering your will have your height and weight measured I was not expecting this as I was told I wouldn’t have too until you go for a scan 😱

@LabradorMum where did you get your bloods? I didn't get height and weight done with mine. Had it when I had initial appointment but that's all.

Hi @willithappen at one of the new hubs, yeah I had mine at initial appointment too, also we get weighed at our first baseline scan. Just wanted to let people know incase they wanted to loose some weight before 😁

@willithappen I'm quite torn as feel lucky to have to go in to work, see colleagues and not negotiate working from home, but jealous of how much easier it would make negotiating appointments 🤣

@LabradorMum did they say anything about it? Hopefully it's just routine and doesn't count as I definitely put on weight over Christmas 🤦 Healthier lifestyle started today with some yoga.

Hi @pixelflower results are all sent to the clinic, thankfully I didn’t put anything on, I am not sure I don’t think so I think it’s just went you get the scan if that’s not within BMI the doc told me the treatment won’t go ahead. Don’t want to worry/panic anyone just I wasn’t expecting it.

Ah I probably didn't get it then as I was at my GP for mine. I've weighed myself and not put on anything though so quite lucky! Just got to make sure I don't put on a load over this next month
Can't believe next month we will all be on pills/injections and starting in the hospital!

Guess what will be will be, I want to be healthier anyway and if my weight ends up delaying things I'll kick my big bum across that bridge when we come to it.
I'm having an upbeat day and excited for us all getting started. Not sure I've ever anxiously waited for someone else to get their period 🤣

6 days left for me. The last two days though I have had weird ovulation pains in my left side. Really hoping I haven't ovulated super late as I never do but knowing my luck it will have and will knock me back further lol

OMG @willithappen I feel like I have been having the exact same thing, and I feel like my period is going to come early too I’m not due till Friday, what’s going on 🤪🤣

Hi all, hope you're all doing well, despite a rubbish start to this year. Just wanted to highlight that guidance has changed for the covid vaccine, it's now OK to have it if you're TTC. I have been offered the vaccine through work and contacted the clinic today to check if I could still have it and still have treatment and was told it won't effect my treatment, although I am still a while away.

I'm a long way off being offered it. I did the online calculator based on how quickly they are getting them out and it's saying July 2022 for me 🙈

@pixelflower would never ever ask anyone this usually 😂 but what date are you due on this month?

@itsmschanandlerbong how are you doing? Thanks for the update. We got a letter through the door about the vaccine and information is already out of date, it's just nuts how quickly things can change.

@willithappen haha, it's like a different world here. Between Tuesday and Thursday, so 12th to 14th. Is it Monday for you?

Monday for me if all goes to plan! Very strange getting excited for another woman's period coming too isn't it haha. Also weird to be excited for mine to come when we are usually hoping it doesn't!
