Infertility investigations/IVF in Scotland

Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are undergoing infertility investigations/IVF in Scotland because it seems as though it can vary from the rest of the UK.

DH and I have been TTC since June 2018. Started investigations around July 2019. I have a large ovarian cyst which will be removed, hopefully after Christmas. Getting a laparoscopy and dye to check tubes too. I have very regular periods and I am ovulating. DH has a low sperm count, but the ones he has are good quality. Still awaiting results from ultrasounds, genetic tests etc so still feel like we're at the beginning of our journey. This is our first time TTC and we've not had a hint of a BFP.

Anyone else?

Oh yes it is my test day and I got BFP!! 😅 So happy and shocked that it worked!

How are you all holding up?
I am really sorry that your appointments and treatments have been postponed. That coronavirus has turned everything upside down!
I just hope you will all keep safe and well and be able to start treatment soon 🙏💜

@Pinecone88 congrats! Here’s to a happy and healthy 9 months!

I’m holding up ok, self isolating at the minute and period due today or tomorrow. I missed 2 calls from the hospital on Friday and tried to call them back twice but it just goes to answer machine. I’ll try again on Monday but pretty sure it’s just cancelling my treatment appointment.

That's fantastic news, congrats @Pinecone88, have you called Ninewells? They should give you an appointment for a 7week scan for about 3weeks from now.

Hi guys,
Been trying to follow but works been a bit hectic
We’ve been for our assessment and diagnosis with consultant now I have PCOS but egg reserve is high and partners sperm count is good and active 😬.
They recommended I take clomid as the treatment but I need to loose 5 pesky lbs first that was quite disappointing. Has anyone else been advised clomid ?.

They gave me provera and metformin at the min and I’ve to contact when I’ve lost the 5lbs so frantically dieting.

How’s everyone else getting on ... ? X x

It's a strange time just now, I've taken myself off social media. I'm fed up of seeing stuff about coronavirus everywhere. I'm a category 1 worker, I'm surrounded by chat about it all day and am potentially exposed to it. It's too much seeing it all over social media when I get home too.

I know it’s been a nightmare all you wanna do is graze lol @justbeingelle we must be the same person I’m in same line of work also... I called fertility clinic today for some clarification they are saying they are cancelling all treatments until further notice so was quite disappointing .. fingers crossed not to long a wait ... xxx

Morning all, just wanted to check in and say I hope everyone is staying safe and well.

@Vincent2020 and @justbeingelle good luck with losing those last few lbs. I eat when I'm stressed/anxious so I'm actually putting on weight, not ideal haha!

It kind of feels like time is going on and on at the moment but still no further forward with things because they've cancelled treatment 🙈

I've had a few awkward moments this week with people asking if we have children "no" "oh do you not want any?" I mean how do you answer that? I usually just keep it casual and say "oh we like spending our money on going on holidays and weekends away just now" but it feels awkward for me and I wonder if they can sense the awkwardness too?

Things are so strange just now with all that is going on with covid-19. I'm frontline so continuing to work which has actually been good for me I think. I've come off of social media to try and get away from it all because it has just been constant. I haven't really missed it and it's been helpful being away from it I think?

How is everyone else? What has life been looking like for all of you for the last week or so?

@justbeingelle I hate it when people ask if I want children, I never know how to answer. I wish people would think before they speak and realise its not really an appropriate question if you don't know someone's circumstances!
I'm feeling 'stuck' with treatments not happening right now. It would be easier if we knew how long this will go on for.
Good idea to stay off social media, I've been limiting my time on it and that's helped to make me less anxious.

I was a bit upset the other day in a conversation with friends who trotted out the old “bet there will be loads of isolation babies conceived” and then talking about someone we know who has a baby and is pregnant again. They don’t know about my situation so I tried not to show it but I just feel so left behind. Knowing ivf was happening soon was keeping me going

I’m off sick just now with either flu or covid, so that has kept my mind off it a bit with just wanting to get better, starting to feel a bit better now though not 100%.

@kikisparks It's so hard when you were so close to starting, now not knowing when it'll happen. I get so anxious when I think of time slipping past, its partly because of my age as well, if I was even 5 years younger i probably wouldn't feel the pressure so much.

Well that's another letter through the post for me today saying my scheduled video appointment for 28th April has now been cancelled :(
It was the last one we needed before being put on the waiting list (which I know is now going to be even longer but I was content knowing we were just going to be put on it at least)
It didn't say anything about them contacting us again after, what after plans were or anything so now it's like completely stuck in limbo which feels awful!

Really feeling for all of you who have had appointments cancelled and unable to transfer too. I don't know if I'm going to burst out crying to swear my lungs off 😭

@willithappen sorry to hear that your appointment has been cancelled, that's a real blow. Remind me, are you Aberdeen?
I've done it all, cried, swore, felt so down I can't speak, tried to convince myself it's for the best at the moment...and repeated it all over again. Feel whatever you need to feel right now and feel free to rant away on here, we all understand.

I understand the strain on the NHS but because they wrote to us twice now to say we'd be having a video appointment I thought maybe they'd go ahead with that and just get us on the waiting list but no :(
I don't even know what position we'll be at when things get back running. If they'll make us to the tests all over again or not. After 5/6 years we were finally getting somewhere with things too.

I'm healthy and so is my family right now so I need to be grateful for what I have, I know. Still absolutely gutted. Hoping they call and say 'April Fools' but know what won't happen!

@willithappen that is disappointing that they wrote to say it would happen by video but have now changed it.
I'm Aberdeen, we got told just to keep an eye on their website for updates

@nextweek I have emailed them just to confirm what's going on as it says the appointment at the facility is cancelled and not quite clear if it's the video appointment :(
Do you have an appointment coming up or on the waiting list?

@willithappen no harm in phoning to check just to be sure. We're already on the waiting list and were due an appointment to discuss our treatment and sign consent forms, was meant to be early April

@willithappen how frustrating! We just don’t need poor communication at the moment on top of everything else. Hope you get answers soon and are put on the list.
