Anyone waiting to start IVF/FET in 2020?

As it says on the title really! Wondering if anyone else twiddling their thumbs and wanted to keep each other company?
Me- 40, was TTC for 4 years (unexplained infertility)- short protocol in 2018- fresh transfer resulted in an ectopic pregnancy followed by a successful FET later in the year. We have 8 frosties which we hope to use in another FET starting Feb/March 2020. First consultation next month. Feels so daunting to be starting the process again! X

Hi all,

Can I join? Had a successful IVF in 2017 which resulted in my youngest DS. Had 2 Frosties, which I’m incredibly grateful for.

I had weight loss surgery last September, so am hoping to have my medicated fet in July as my body needs a chance of recovering from my surgery.

My ivf last year was ok, due to a previous lletz treatment over 10 years beforehand my cervix was very scarred, so the nurse had a lot of troubles trying to insert the catheter when it was time to insert the embryo, even though the scan and consultant both said it shouldn’t be an issue. I had to have the consultant do it in the end, which was fine as it resulted in my pregnancy. So I would just say if you’ve had cervix treatment and scarring you can do a dummy run with the catheter before the day of embryo transfer. I’m sure a lot of clinics probably do this anyway.

@BOBSS almost there! Good luck just a teeny bit thicker.

@Minster2012 oh dear; hope you are feeling a bit better. Hugs!

My husband and I also had a huge fight. After I admitted to fears and worries surrounding the ivf process and concerns about the implications of having a baby while raising a toddler (the same conversation a lot of us have been having on here); he claimed he doesn’t really want another child and in fact he would prefer a divorce! He doesn’t even want to attend DS birthday party this weekend, he would prefer to leave. This obviously comes as a very big shock to me. He isn’t home yet and not answering his phone. Idk if he is just really angry or if he meant what he said. All 3 things are quite serious statements to make though. I honestly don’t know what to think.

@mischali - oh my god, I hope you're ok - that's so awful. I really hope it was just something said in the heat of an argument and you manage to sort things out soon xxx

BeHereNowx32 · 21/01/2020 19:45

@Mischali so sorry! Your mind will be all over the place with everything! I hope it’s something that you can both sort out xx

Minster2012 · 21/01/2020 20:13

@Mischali sending massive hugs

  • it’s so hard, before IVF 1 DH & I also had an argue in the car early on in the way into an appointment where he said “I don’t want THIS WAY it’s humiliating” and I retorted saying “well you shouldn’t have married a faulty women then, after all the conversations we’ve had about this exact thing”
Things can be said in the heat of the moment in stressful times and it’s awful.

Fingers crossed you can get to the root of it xxxx

Tryin4no2 · 22/01/2020 06:33

@Mischali so sorry to hear you are going through this. Fertility struggles put such pressure on everyone, and definitely increases the arguments I have had with my DH. It may have been an (albeit unfair) way of him lashing out at the situation. Thinking of you and hoping it can all be resolved swiftly. Xxxx

BOBSS · 22/01/2020 06:35

@Mischali its awful..lods of hugs to you..stay strong..i wish things get sorted out soon..n u both can take this journey forward together..

@Minster2012 best wishes for your scan!!

Minster2012 · 22/01/2020 11:55

Thank you @BOBSS 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Mischali · 22/01/2020 17:04

Thank you ladies for your input x
Hope to hear good news re your lining @Minster2012 :)

Minster2012 · 22/01/2020 17:27

Hi ladies, not great news for me either on the lining I’m afraid, I’m at 6.2mm not 7 so another week of tablets and scan next weds instead of FET next weds. It’s so annoying but we keep going 😕

BeHereNowx32 · 22/01/2020 20:55

@Minster2012 I know? It’s frustrating. Get some pomegranate juice 😃 I will definitely be doing it before transfer. Good luck.
Got our letter through today, asking us to confirm and pay for treatment. I will try to it tomorrow... will be final then

CritterTamer · 23/01/2020 07:15

Hugs @Minster2012, Huang on in there! I found raspberry leaf tea helped my lining - didn't know that pomegranate juice was good too though. I might give that a try!
Hope you're ok @Mischali xxx

Tryin4no2 · 23/01/2020 08:02

@Minster2012, @CritterTamer, I heard Brazil nuts are meant to be good too (due to the selenium) but think I may have been eating too many (can be toxic if you overdo it) but I have seen 2-3 a day recommended.

Thinking of you @Mischali

BeHereNowx32 · 23/01/2020 08:17

@CritterTamer yes, I drank raspberry leaf tea too 👍

BOBSS · 23/01/2020 08:26

@Minster2012 remember the saying.."Slow & Steady wins the race " I think we both are in the same group..so dun u worry n stay positive..
Our lining is growing slowly but it will definitely result in positive news for both of us :)

Has doc advised u any med change or anything else?
My doc has advised me sitz bath also..(in short sit in hot water ) twice a day atleast..which will help in better blood circulation in that area..try if you feel comfortable..

Tryin4no2 · 23/01/2020 08:40

I have also been trying fertility yoga to increase circulation - no idea if it works but kind of makes sense - one just involves putting your feet in the air - can be against a wall - wishing thick linings for everyone

CritterTamer · 23/01/2020 09:15

Fertility yoga is excellent. I did it every day for the couple of months leading up to our successful cycle. It's also great for relaxation at this stressful time. I'm trying to get back into it but it's hard to get the peace and quiet with 8 month old twins 🤣

Mischali · 23/01/2020 12:46

Thanks everyone we’re continuing with ivf, he has apologized but I don’t have space in my head for added stress from him atm so I’m avoiding him a bit Blush

@Minster2012 and @BOBSS you both have very little lining growth left xx I can imagine how frustrating it must be but.... almost there...!

I once got very sick from Brazil nuts, think I had about 10 just because I liked the taste. Wouldn’t advise taking so many.

@CritterTamer I can’t even imagine having twins lol glad you can have a bit of a laugh about the lack of peace and quiet 😂

Minster2012 · 24/01/2020 10:35

Thank you for the advice ladies, I think I may go for the pomegranate juice & I eat a few nuts anyway. @BOBSS my meds have gone up to 4 x 4 mg on the tablets & the buserelin now so an extra week of extra meds.

However we are t very positive now as since yesterday morning at 6.15am til last night I was throwing up & was admitted to hospital with dehydration & low cortisol so I don’t know if the tablets have stayed down 😫

Tryin4no2 · 24/01/2020 12:40

@Minster2012 so sorry to hear you have been so unwell! Look after yourself and 🤞enough of the meds stayed down. Hope you feel better soon.

CritterTamer · 24/01/2020 12:44

That sounds rough @Minster2012, hope you feel better soon!

Mischali · 24/01/2020 19:13

Sorry to hear that you have been so sick @Minster2012! Hope you feel better soon x

BOBSS · 26/01/2020 03:37

@Minster2012 so sorry to hear about ur sickness..I hope ur taking good care of urself nw..could u find out d reason for same.. Was it food poisoning or something else..?? Wishing speedy recovery to u..💕😊

Mischali · 26/01/2020 06:00

@Tryin4no2 and @Fredsgirl19 (and anyone else expecting to start cycling soon) do you have any idea when you ovulated and when you are expecting cd1? @Fredsgirl19 I remember you said you used opks?
I’m usually spotting by now and am expecting AF tomorrow if I go by my average 28 day cycle. But no spotting, no cramping... either I ovulated later than I thought or I’m having a textbook long lp with little to zero spotting 🙈 the one cycle that I WANT AF to start! And we didn’t dtd all month so I can’t be pregnant 🤷‍♀️. So the waiting continues...

Tryin4no2 · 26/01/2020 08:10

@Mischali, sorry to hear about the waiting. I ovulated on day 13/14 and got my period yesterday (so starting injections today...) it came a couple of days late, together with a few “symptoms” so was really getting my hopes up but if it was something it has gone away now. Anyone else just starting now (@Mischali I know you will be soon!). Also, for anyone who has had IVF before, can I ask which attempt worked?
