Anyone on Letrozole?

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

Awe that isn't easy at all on either of you anxiety is tough on people Xx and performing for them causes anxiety too. It's just not easy is it none of this is!!!!
This cycle isn't over for you yet so dont rule it out xx

Carleyxo · 06/01/2020 10:52

Hey ladies
I had my follicle scan today all looked good two big and one small on right ovary, one small on left ovary. She said the two big look hopeful and due to ovulate next couple of days.
Bloods next Wednesday to confirm. I also learnt today that even with a big follicle there isn't always an egg inside - I never bloody knew that 😳 @CCPP @Sylva123 x

CCPP · 06/01/2020 12:45

Oh yipee to the follicles 🤗🤗🤗 thts great news!!!!
Oh god I never knew that either!!!!! Why is it so hard for some ppl to get pregnant it's not fair is it!!!! Hopefully now yours will have eggs in them 🤞 xxx

Carleyxo · 06/01/2020 14:13

I know how fab is that! She said the same as Clomid - potential of multiples but I don't mind :-) I know crazy isn't it I never knew until today! I just assumed the follicle was an egg but apparently not... @CCPP how are you both today? X

Sylva123 · 06/01/2020 14:52

@carleyxo & @ccpp thanks for your support 💕. I'm hoping he'll be better today because he's decided to take a demotion at work to give himself a bit of breathing space. It's less money but I just want my OH back so who cares.

@carleyxo that is great news about your scan! Thats so so promising! It must be lovely to see it on the scan - making it all a bit more real. And the potential for multiples - even more lovely!
Yes I found out able how follicles can be empty when my scan a few months back showed a giant one but then the progesterone test showed I didn't ovulate, so it mustn't have had an egg in it. World's worst Kinder Surprise!

Sylva123 · 06/01/2020 14:53

Yours will have eggs in them though. This is the month for all of us on this thread! X

Carleyxo · 06/01/2020 15:24

It's so weird isn't it - kinder suprise sorry that did make me chuckle I may refer to them as they too.
I hope tonight works for you, bless him for the demotion must be so hard! What does he do?

It was so weird seeing it properly on the screen @Sylva123 x

Sylva123 · 06/01/2020 15:45

Haha we've still got our sense of humour even through this fertility nonsense @carleyxo!

So glad the letrozole has worked though and that there were follicles there. Now just the dtd bit and the dreaded two week wait!

My OH works for a drug treatment charity, so he's going back to his old role there. I find it hard to understand the anxiety from the outside, especially with all this other stuff going on. I'm just hoping going back to his old job will help a bit. On the plus side he's got his mojo back and has been texting me all day about dtd later!

On a separate note have you started your reflexology yet @carleyxo? I just had a treatment and she went hard on the ovaries to try to get me ovulating! It's so relaxing

Carleyxo · 06/01/2020 16:20

I guess we have to try don't we haha. I know I guess the deed starts tonight. How are you getting on with cough medicine? It's gross!
It's very hard for us to understand from the outside..

I start my reflexology Wednesday but I'm tempted to see if she has any tomorrow to catch ovulation? What do you think? @Sylva123 x

Sylva123 · 06/01/2020 16:32

I'm such a weirdo I like the cough medicine 🤣. Either that or the letrozole is giving me CM so I'm sticking at it.

Yeah I reckon try to get it in before ovulation if you can. If not it doesn't matter though, I often have it after ovulation to relax me so that the sperm and egg have a nice chilled environment for implantation!

Carleyxo · 06/01/2020 16:59

Really it makes me feel sick 😂😂 the nurse today said she thinks ovulation in the next couple of days so if I did have to wait till Wednesday do you think that could work or not really? My tests still show negative. The faint line what does that even mean? @Sylva123 is it good that it's there even though it's faint?

Sylva123 · 06/01/2020 18:03

@Carleyxo faint line means there's a bit of LH chemical in your body. As you get closer to ovulation it'll get darker and darker. Or sometimes just all of a sudden bam it'll go darker. It's positive when it matches the control line or is darker than the control line. I double test - once with Clearblue digital and once with cheap Amazon ones, just because I'm crazy and like throwing money away 🙈.
I think you're fine waiting til Wednesday though. Even when you get a positive opk it's another 24-36 hours til the egg actually comes out - so you have time. The idea of dtd now is so sperm is up there waiting, ready for the egg when it makes its grand entrance

CCPP · 06/01/2020 18:07

Back at work today hardly getting on this at all!!!!
@sylva123 great to hear your husband is raring to go tonight 😊 fair play to him for taking a demotion no job is worth suffering anxiety!
Ladies ye are so good to look into alternative methods! Do you find the reflexology good?
@carleyxo I think it means there is some LH in your system that's why it's a faint line but it gets darker as the LH increases. Mine this time were practically non existent thurs and fri and then boom really dark on Saturday.

Carleyxo · 06/01/2020 23:19

Ohhhh really so it's potentially detecting something then? I did wonder.....

Hoping you were successful tonight @Sylva123 😀 when are you ovulating? Is it the same as me? X

Leala20 · 07/01/2020 00:07

I hope you don’t mind me jump in. I googled letrozole as I hadn’t heard about it before. I am all new to this. Do you get it as part of ivf prep or can I just ask a doctor for this as my ovulation is not consistent? I am confused a bit as the private doctor told me I would only start medication when doing ivf and not before.

Carleyxo · 07/01/2020 07:15

Hi @Leala20 join on in :-)

What's your background? Letrozole helps you ovulate and so does Clomid :) x

Carleyxo · 07/01/2020 12:31

How funny I did a cheap test and this is what it came up as and I thought that wasn't dark enough. Then I did my new clear blue one and I got a static smiley 😀 x

Anyone on Letrozole?
CCPP · 07/01/2020 14:50

Yipee @carleyxo that's excellent 🤗🤗🤗 get busy tonight 😉

Welcome @Leala20 😊 so I dont ovulate on my own as I have PCOS so the dr prescribed me letrozole to see if that will bring on ovulation. This is my 1st cycle on it so fingers crossed it works!

Carleyxo · 07/01/2020 16:07

Funny how the cheap one looked like that right? So that wouldn't of been classed as dark enough am I right?

We dtd last night and will do tonight tomorrow and the next day - wish me luck 🤣 @CCPP

CCPP · 07/01/2020 16:13

On my strips the control line is the top line are you sure you are reading it right? If it's the same as mine your test line is darker than your control line which shows ovulation is on the way.
Ahhh best of luck 🤞🤞🤞

Sylva123 · 07/01/2020 18:08

@Carleyxo that cheap one is definitely positive! Super dark test line! (If the test line is the bottom one like mine are). That's so exciting!!! Are you dtd the next couple of nights and have you already got some in beforehand? It's looking good for you!

I realised my cheap tests are out of date so I've done a panic Amazon Prime buy and waiting for them to arrive. Clearblue still says I'm high fertility but not peak yet. Day 18 today so it's super late ovulation for me.

Sylva123 · 07/01/2020 18:12

Hi @Leala20 & welcome! My consultant is trying me on letrozole as an option before going down the IVF route. Some people try Clomid or Letrozole first and if that doesn't work they go onto IVF. With letrozole and clomid you just take 5 pills during the month and have sex during your fertile time
IVF is a bit more complex - so it'll depend on your personal situation what you need. I have it because we're not sure if I ovulate or not and I have super low progesterone. Some people have it for PCOS or if they don't ovulate on their own. Good luck!

CCPP · 07/01/2020 18:33

@sylva123 just reading that there does the letrozole help with low progesterone too? I have low progesterone and panicking incase I do get pregnant you're meant to have high progesterone 🤔

Carleyxo · 07/01/2020 21:51

Have you ladies heard of progesterone cream that you can order? @CCPP @Sylva123

I am so clueless aren't I so the line closer to the LH part is the one that's always there so yes the test line must be the really dark one. Gosh you must all think I'm stupid 🤣 I'm used to the clear blue ones x

Carleyxo · 07/01/2020 21:53

Also @Sylva123x we did it Thursday Saturday last night and will try tonight tomorrow and maybe the next day or should I scrap Thursday and do Friday instead? I know too much isn't always great is it. I would be due to ovulate tomorrow wouldn't I with that peak? X
