Anyone on Letrozole?

rubywoo24 · 25/08/2019 21:46

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

Just looked up the sprays I am going to buy them tomorrow 🤞🤞

Sylva123 · 02/01/2020 21:13

@Carleyxo I didn't know they did an iron one too. I'm going to buy it. Thanks so much for sharing! They are so good.

Yeah @ccpp we actually thought he was just a random man off the street and not a real consultant, it was such a weird appointment!
I'm also no way near ovulating according to the opks. Let's test tmw and see if something starts happening. Hope so!

I'm learning loads on here too!

CCPP · 02/01/2020 21:19

Everything crossed something starts happening 🤞😊 thanks for all the tips ladies xx it's great to chat to ppl going through this too.

Carleyxo · 02/01/2020 21:47

Me to I love hearing other people's tips. I definitely rate the sprays I have all three @Sylva123 they do so many though. The Vit D definitely tastes the best 🤣 @CCPP it's all so reassuring having others to talk too x

Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 09:49

Urgh so this website says we should ovulate 4-7 days after taking our last pill. www.todaysparent.com/getting-pregnant/trying-to-conceive/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-fertility-drug-letrozole/
Im worried I missed ovulation and that it was back on the 30th Dec (CD10). I only dtd once before then because I thought it was way too early.

It's 8 days after my last pill now and still absolutely nothing happening on the opks... And I ovulate every month so this is super weird for me 😕

Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 10:02

Just ignore that.. way more websites say ov happens day 14-19 on letrozole so I'm going for that!!!

roswellobgyn.org/letrozole-guideline/

CCPP · 03/01/2020 10:06

@sylva123 I read on loads of places that its 9 days after the last pill and that's what I am hoping for as my opk's are the most negative I've ever seen!!!!!! Its crazy we haven't been told anything by the dr (well I haven't) just given the tablets and away you go. Trying to find out everything online!
If you normally ovulate every month and your opk's are negative I would think you haven't ovulated yet this cycle.

CCPP · 03/01/2020 10:07

@Sylva123 that sounds much better especially with the negative opk's 🤞🤞

Carleyxo · 03/01/2020 10:30

I would go with the cycle day 14 onwards especially with the negatives....

I know it's crazy we have to do the research 🙄😩

Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 13:17

@ccpp these are also the most negative tests I've ever had. Usually there's a faint line but this month nothing! I'm heartened to hear it's the same for you. I'm going to take that to mean the drugs are doing something and it's all good

CCPP · 03/01/2020 15:31

I am the same I would usually get a faint line but still nothing 🙈 Hopefully in next few days a line will appear 🤞🤞

Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 15:54

Hope so!
Forgot to say that another thing I'm trying is removing all unnecessary chemicals, as they can be hormone disrupting. So I'm thinking about what cleaning products I use, perfume, cosmetics etc. I haven't got rid of all of it but just trying to make switches where I can. My reflexologist recommended it so thought I'd give it a go.

CCPP · 03/01/2020 18:07

Interesting I was actually reading up about that too and using plastics can be hormone disrupting too!

Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 21:45

Yes I've binned all the plastic and have embraced the thermos for coffee on the road instead of my old plastic Starbucks cup! Going old-school fisherman style.

It's really bloody hard to get away from plastic though. It's everywhere and I have a freezer full of food in Tupperware :-/

Apparently nail varnish is bad so I stopped using that. There's a list here: fertilibox.co.uk/the-fertilibox-naughty-list/ but I must admit I haven't read it all cos it's just a long list of chemical names. I'm just trying to switch body lotions and shower gels and stuff like that to ones with fewer chemicals in. Still slapping on the make up and using normal shampoo, but I think it's about lowering the "chemical load"

Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 21:48

There's only so much we can do though. I already feel like I've gone way down the weird old wives tales route!

Carleyxo · 03/01/2020 22:02

How interesting I'll give that a read @Sylva123 however I only use products not tested on animals and vegan, usually those are ones that have less chemicals but I'll let you know after I read the list!
When you ladies mean a faint line what do you mean?

Also Sylva how much cough medicine do you take?

CCPP · 03/01/2020 22:16

Yes it's so hard to get away from harsh chemicals they're everywhere nowadays!!!!! I'll definitely give that a read. Thanks!

On the opk test strips the test line is faint. The control line is darker. The test line is meant to be some colour or darker than control line when ovulating @carleyxo

Carleyxo · 03/01/2020 22:25

I get so confused by it all haha so what does a faint line mean? I just did a test and there is one really dark one and one really faint? @CCPP

Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 22:45

@Carleyxo a faint line means you've got a bit of the LH chemical in your system. It'll get darker and darker towards ovulation, as you get more and more LH In your system. It's a positive when it's as dark or darker than the control line. Hope that makes sense!

Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 22:47

@Carleyxo I just stole this photo from Google images. You should be able to see the tests getting darker

Anyone on Letrozole?
Sylva123 · 03/01/2020 22:48

And with the cough mixture I just take a swig in the morning. Not very scientific! Sometimes I take a swig before bed too. I can't remember what it was meant to be 🤣

Carleyxo · 03/01/2020 22:50

Yess thats cleared it up thank you!!! That's fine I did a teaspoon but wasn't sure if it needed to be more haha @CCPP

Carleyxo · 03/01/2020 22:51

Wrong tag @Sylva123

CCPP · 04/01/2020 10:11

Got positive opk this morning but husband is gone away until tomorrow!!!! Heres hoping last night was enough! I've never got one this early on in my cycle! Let's hope the bloods next week show I ovulated and I caught it🤞

Sylva123 · 04/01/2020 10:23

Oh bloody hell @ccpp it's as if the egg knows and comes and the most inconvenient time isn't it!
When is he back? The sperm meets the egg plan (SMEP) suggests doing it every other day during the month (like you've been doing) so that there's some sperm up there waiting. Then it says 3 days in a row when you get a positive, then one day off, then one more for luck in case ovulation is later than u thought. If he's back tmw you could dtd then & the day after just to be sure?
If he's not back then I think the times you've already done it means the sperm will be up there ready and waiting for the egg, so you've done enough. Isn't it 5 days the sperm can live? So you've got a good chance! Good luck! Exciting to have the positive opk!!! Hope this is the magic egg that makes a baby! X
