Hi everyone,

Thought I'd start a thread for those of us undergoing fertility treatment in July/August.

I'm (hopefully) having a FET late July/early August, anyone else want to hop on this thread for the ride?

@onfused107 11 follicles is great! Sounds like it won't be too much longer before your egg collection. Did you have to tell your mum in the end?

@Dlpdep Glad you have got started and congrats on the first injection. Are you doing them yourself?

@WhatelsecouldIbecalled Hope you enjoyed the cinema. I thought the pessaries weren't too bad (they certainly weren't the worst part of the experience).

@sometimesalways Good luck for your scan on Monday! I've never experienced bleeding during IVF but if your clinic doesn't seem concerned it's probably ok.

I'm trying to take things one step at a time. I think I'm just a bit jaded having been through a few rounds of fertility treatment. Seriously considering getting a puppy!

Yup, doing them myself. I have a pen like an epipen that dispenses the correct dosage. We have a 9 week old puppy we picked up last week. It’s a lot of work!!!

TinyPaws · 20/07/2019 23:28

Ooh what kind of puppy? So envious! Our neighbors have got a 10 week is miniature dachshund, he's gorgeous.

She’s a cocker spaniel. At the ‘crazy puppy’ stage right now, chewing everything! Careful what you wish for! Grin

Marmite83 · 22/07/2019 11:03

How's everyone doing? Injections have been ok so far. My tummy area feels a little tender and I had some fairly uncomfortable pains around my ovaries yesterday for a little while but it's calmed down now. First progress scan and bloods tomorrow.

confused107 · 22/07/2019 11:55

@Dlpdep I love cocker spaniels. We have a Cavapoo who is 3 now and I can confirm that they do not slow down...sorry!! She brings so much fun though

@Marmite83 glad your injections are going ok.

Had a lovely weekend thanks @TinyPaws, no I didn't tell my mom. Sadly I think she probably now thinks I'm pregnant as I refused a glass of wine, which is worse in hindsight 😕

I had my second progress scan today. They are pleased with the growth (my biggest one is 25) and I'm waiting to hear after their lunchtime meeting whether or not I'm doing the trigger shot tonight. Looks like egg collection will be weds/thurs this week

I'm nervous excited. I find it hard to balance not getting my hopes up with being positive. That's been the biggest mental challenge for me. My DH is the eternal optimist

Dlpdep · 22/07/2019 16:25

She’s our second cocker, I can confirm that they settle down at about the age of 12!!!

I think that is one of the most unfortunate by-products of fertility struggles. You never get to enjoy the elements of early pregnancy. It’s all fraught with stress and anxiety.

sometimesalways · 22/07/2019 21:46

@confused107 DH is an optimist too! How do they manage it? It does help me though to have him cheering

I had scan today but lining still needs thickening so taking some extra Estrogen and back for new scan on Friday... if all goes well there, we will finally start luteal then. Fingers crossed although the extra waiting has annoyed me a bit..

WorriedButterfly · 22/07/2019 23:39

Hi everyone- I am just preparing for cycle 2 in September- I wondered if anyone could tell me the dose of COq10 to take? Also is it for 6wks? TIA and good luck to everyone x

Dlpdep · 22/07/2019 23:55

Just did my injections which have been fine so far but tonight the site of the injection is stingy and itchy. Urgh!

confused107 · 23/07/2019 06:39

@Dlpdep some days they proper sting, others they don't. I hope last night was a one off

@WorriedButterfly I was told 100mg ideally for 3 months, but I have low AMH so I would check with the clinic if you are not sure

@sometimesalways I don't know how he keeps it up, though I do sometimes worry it's for my benefit and he is bottling things up. I would like us to have counselling together if this doesn't work for us, but will be hard to convince him

orangefolly · 23/07/2019 07:53

@Marmite83 I have my first progress scan as well today. Good luck!! Here's hoping for lots of follicles.

@WorriedButterfly 100mg is fine, make sure it is ubiquinol and not ubiquinone - CoQ10 comes in 2 kinds and apparently it's the former you want.

@Dlpdep oh a puppy how wonderful! We've got a young rescue cat who we got just before last cycle and she is a joy to have around. She saves my sanity I think!

Marmite83 · 23/07/2019 08:51

Good luck @orangefolly, fingers crossed for us both today.

My pooch has been my saviour through all the years of ttc and my miscarriage. He's a Frenchie Pug and so incredibly stubborn but we wouldn't be without him.

Dlpdep · 23/07/2019 08:55

Isn’t it great how animals can give us such support?

Best of luck with your scans today marmite and orange. Fingers crossed for you both.

Brambles7 · 23/07/2019 08:56

Good luck to those with scans today! @Anaesthetist83 do you start the drugs today?

I picked up all my drugs yesterday, so it feels more real now. Will be good to get stuck in. The lovely pharmacist at the hospital took the time to recommend and help me set up my Boots advantage card on my phone, so I got 400 extra points on my card for picking up the drugs.

Anaesthetist83 · 23/07/2019 10:05

Yes! Finally today! Sadly I’m oncall so have had to bring them to work in case I don’t get home later..... not ideal in these temperatures

Brambles7 · 23/07/2019 11:22

So good to finally start after all that waiting!
I was concerned about the ovitrelle yesterday, taking it home in this heat but hopefully it was okay.
Hope the first one goes okay for you today.

Anaesthetist83 · 23/07/2019 12:37

Thank you - you too!

I actually have one of these for my Humira so I’m using it whilst transferring my Buserelin to work etc whilst it is warm .... friouk.com/

Marmite83 · 23/07/2019 13:58

I think my scan went fairly well. I have 9 follicles that are growing nicely apparently (19 follicles visible in total). Had to take my first Fyremadel while I was there as the biggest follicle was 19mm. The Fyremadel stung a bit initially but it's fine now. Scans on Thurs and Fri and egg collection most likely Mon or Tues next week. How did you get on @orangefolly?

Good luck for starting @Anaesthetist83 and @Brambles7

AEL79 · 23/07/2019 14:19

Hi everyone and good luck to one and all Grin Got everything crossed for all of us.

In short: TTC 5 years; 2 years fannying about on the NHS only to be told that my AMH is so low that they wouldn't have touched me with a bargepole anyway, so have spent the last 3 years self funding treatment. Have had 2 rounds with my eggs (pointless in hindsight), 2 on an eggshare donor program (as a recipient).

Currently with a clinic in Alicante for a younger donor, which we got, but somehow only ended up with one viable embryo...doing it on my natural cycle this time, so here goes round 5! Had my baseline scan today so we're on our way...

Parkandride · 23/07/2019 17:33

Hi all, might be a little early for me to join as will stim next month but it feels like some bits are happening and I want to talk to someone!

So I'm 30, no kids, no known fertility issues but we have a genetic issue to avoid so are doing PGD IVF. Which thankfully gets funded for 3 cycles if you respond ok.

Saying that our first appointment was 3 years ago due to a funding cock up and a pause for a laprospecopy (nothing found). But it's finally resolved and means we can use a clinic 20 minutes away rather than travel to London.

We have our teaching injection appointment on Friday and a scan, and drugs get delivered the same day. I've got my period so have come off my mini pill, and next one we'll be good to go!

Hope everyone's getting on ok, would be interested to know how much you've shared with work? Also is anyone doing accupuncture? It's not really my jam but I can get some free sessions through work so might be worth a try

Caityprice · 23/07/2019 18:42

Hi everyone! I hope it’s okay if I join. I did my first injection (short protocol) last night. This is my first go at IVF. I have PCOS and tried ovulation induction but it didn’t work. Really nice to read lots of your comments, although I haven’t managed to catch up on them all! I was so nervous about starting, but kind of relieved my first injection wasn’t that bad and I don’t feel hormonally crazy... yet...!

Caityprice · 23/07/2019 21:14

@Parkandride
I do acupuncture. I’ve had it before for injuries and similar and it’s really helped, so I figured worth a shot for this. If nothing else it really calms me down when I’m feeling super stressed by the process.
Also work - nightmare! I finally told my boss just a week ago, since I didn’t think I would be able to hide the appointments etc any more, although I’ve told no one else. Thankfully it turns out he has a family member who went through IVF, so he was really supportive. But it’s really hard telling work, because I immediately knew it would affect my career, even if I don’t ever get pregnant. Plus I don’t want the extra stress of people knowing/asking. It’s a tough one. I know some people hide it all the way through, or make up a different medical issue.

confused107 · 23/07/2019 22:57

Yay to my last injection. Just done the trigger shot and egg collection is due for Thursday. A mad stressful afternoon rush around for drugs, and four needles tonight but if feels strange that it's all over now. A mixture of relief and worry it's not going to work- we just don't have 7k to fund another round

I haven't told anyone at work. I know that it will negatively affect my career, even if I never get pregnant. So far I have used 3 half days leave and my scans have all been before work. I am going to call in sick on Thursday for the EC (company don't pay sick so I won't feel too guilty) and have told them I have a hospital outpatients appointment for a gynie issue next week for when the eggs go back in as I figure I can possibly work from home after that one. Fingers crossed I will get away with it

confused107 · 23/07/2019 22:58

Ps- I also do acupuncture. I don't enjoy it and I'm not sure if it's beneficial but it can't do any harm
