Hi everyone,

Thought I'd start a thread for those of us undergoing fertility treatment in July/August.

I'm (hopefully) having a FET late July/early August, anyone else want to hop on this thread for the ride?

@caityprice ah that’s amazing news. Congratulations!!! 😘

elleceedee · 17/08/2019 08:40

Amazing news @Caityprice so thrilled for you! Wishing you a very happy and healthy pregnancy 😘

sometimesalways · 17/08/2019 08:40

@Caityprice oh that is amazing news! I am so happy for you! Yaaay

@TinyPaws also HUGE congrats to you too, you have had such a hard time and deserve good news! Thank you (and everybody who helped) also for the info regarding steroids.

sorry have been a bit distracted since my bfn, I had a pretty hard couple of days processing it, but I am back now, and with a plan. We met with our consultant yesterday and are planning a next FET (still have some Frosties) natural cycle with some progesterone supplementation, prob in Mid Sept. they suggested we don't go steroids just yet (unless I ask for them). will start a thread for that closer to the time if this one goes inactive or gets full... but I hope you all get bfps before that :)
Anybody else planning to try again in September/October?

elleceedee · 17/08/2019 08:48

@Peanut1980 that’s exactly it - it’s just so frustrating having to go through it again. Lying to my boss to get time off work, the financial pressure, not to mention the physical and emotional turmoil we go through etc. I think that’s why I’m just so sad as I know I’ve got to go through all this again. But the alternative is just to stop and I can’t do that. We’ve got two “average” frosties left.

sometimesalways · 17/08/2019 08:49

Oh and @Peanut1980 I am so sorry... it's so so hard. It took me a few days to process the bfn... hand-hold

Forgive me, as you probably said this before, but have you been trying for a long time? This was only my first FET and I don't feel ready to give up trying yet but I might be feeling differently after more failed cycles. I am not sure how much of the rollercoaster I can handle. Is a natural cycle an option for you, to give your body a break from the hormones?

elleceedee · 17/08/2019 08:51

@sometimesalways sorry you’ve had a tough few days. Good that you’ve got a plan after your follow up with your consultant. I haven’t spoken to my clinic yet but I imagine we’ll try again on my next cycle or the one after so maybe we’ll have similar timings again.

Lola124 · 17/08/2019 08:52

So just had the dreaded phone call only 3 are looking good and may have to go in on Monday instead of Wednesday now as they said getting them back into me earlier will give them a better chance felling a little upset that only 3 have made it but keep telling myself you only need one

sometimesalways · 17/08/2019 09:01

@elleceedee thank you, I appreciate the kind words. It would be good to have some familiar faces around when I try again (although of course best if you all have bfps before that!) and we can hold each other's hand through it again

Brambles7 · 17/08/2019 09:48

@elleceedee and @Peanut1980 I’m so sorry for your bfn. There are no words to express how it feels, I know. Big hugs to you both and I hope you have treats planned today that you haven’t had for a while.

@sometimesalways sorry you’ve had a tough few days also. It’s good that you have met with the consultant and have a plan for FET. I hope you have also made some plans for nice things for yourself too.

@Caityprice congratulations!!!! That’s brilliant news! You must be (cautiously) thrilled on your lovely bfp!

Peanut1980 · 17/08/2019 11:00

Thanks ladies. I’m going to try and convince my husband to do one last cycle. I’ve been looking into mini ivf. It produces less follicles but usually better quality. Especially for the ageing eggs. Ive read that blasting low quality eggs with lots of stim drugs makes some fragile eggs even more fragile. Anyway, I’ll float the idea past my husband and see what he thinks. Plus importantly discuss it with our consultant to see what he thinks as he’s far more in the know than what I am and my sketchy research on google! I’ve also read about taking DHEA which might improve egg quality. Not sure how it works. Think it’s some kind of make hormone. Bring on the stubble and moustache 🤣 I know the egg cycle is 3 months so I think I’d like to allow 3 months prior to another egg collection. But anyway, it’s good to have a plan but I need to see what hubby and consultant think.

@Lola124 I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling down. Big hugs. The only positive advice I have is that I would have preferred a 3 day transfer. I think embryos do better when back in their natural environment. It’s so hard I know but good luck to you and your embys 😘🙏🤞 Stay strong x

Peanut1980 · 17/08/2019 11:01

#male hormone# not #make#

Peanut1980 · 17/08/2019 15:02

@sometimesalways I’m sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so down. I think it’s all part of the healing process. Don’t let yourself fall too deep into that dark hole. Would you consider counselling just to get yourself in a good headspace before your next attempt? I’m not jumping for joy over the thought of counselling and find it kind of makes me cringe a bit but WHAT IF I come out feeling a lot better mentally? Nothing to lose and everything to gain in a situation like this.

So I’ve done some feel good factor things today. I’ve gone all OCD on decluttering. House feels lush. Sorted old meds from previous two cycles which I’ll return to clinic. Stored in garage out of way for now. Chucked out all the BFP pregnancy tests from our first cycle. God knows why I kept hold of them. Some sort of emotional attachment. I seemed to be hoarding lots of old pregnancy test boxes in my bathroom cupboards so thrown them all out with any other ovulation kit/ttc stuff. Pulled together all my letters from clinics and consultants and filed them in a cupboard. Plus ordered myself some new clothes. Getting my hair done next week so going to get a good couple of inches chopped off for a fresh new look. I have long hair so it will just make it medium length. I haven’t cried yet but I will at some point.

@elleceedee the FET cycle is a lot easier than a fresh cycle with all the stims and egg collection. They often say FETs are good because all of the drugs from the fresh cycle are out your system and your body has a chance to settle down. Good luck to you lovely 😘

elleceedee · 18/08/2019 09:45

@Lola124 sorry it wasn’t better news in the phone call but remember it only takes one! The embryologists know what they are doing and at least with a day 3 transfer they’ll be back where they belong. Will you have one or more put back?

@Brambles7 thank you. I went out for my sister’s birthday yesterday so it was nice to get out of the house and take my mind off it all.

@Peanut1980 wow, I’m impressed with how much you got sorted! I really hope that it’s helped you to mentally process what could be a failed cycle (still hoping it turns around for you though). Have you tested again. Mini ivf sounds interesting, I will look into that as I think we are a similar age.

Does anyone know anything about the pros and cons of doing back to back FETs versus waiting at least one cycle? From what I understand now that I’ve stopped medication I will start bleeding any day now and I could just go in again on day 2 for a baseline scan. I feel mentally this will be better for me just to keep going but I wondered if it’s better physically to wait. Does anyone know? Obviously I’ll discuss with my consultant at my follow up but would be interested to hear other opinions/experiences!

Peanut1980 · 18/08/2019 10:07

@elleceedee yes of course I tested again this morning but the test was bust for some reason and it was the last one I had so serves me right. Did have a bit of a boo last night. This cycle has been way harder than my 1st. The extra stims pushed me to my LIMITS!

I’m not sure about back to back FET. What does the clinic say?

Peanut1980 · 18/08/2019 10:15

Well. I just went and grabbed the test out of the bin and I kind of wish I didn’t. I think the test is dodgy because it took sometime for the normal test line to show. But it looks as though there’s a very faint 2nd line there. It’s probably a vap like or something like that. Kind of wish I didn’t get it out of the bin now. Today I’m 6dp5dt.

elleceedee · 18/08/2019 11:16

@Peanut1980 oh that sounds encouraging! If it’s a FRER I think it’s less likely to be an evap line (I think they’re more common on blue dye tests). Oh and solidarity with you fishing tests out of the bin... I’ve done that more times than I care to admit!

Lola124 · 18/08/2019 12:52

@elleceedee well iv always just thought 1 back but now I’m thinking if I’m lucky enough to have 2 left and depending on the grade I may push to have 2 I really don’t know what to do for the best , felling very gassy and cramps to day think it must be from ec kinda dreading the phone call tomorrow just in case none of them have survived I know you have to be positive but it’s so hard .

Peanut1980 · 18/08/2019 12:58

I am prime example of why you shouldn’t test early. Let me be a lesson to everyone 🙈 It was a FRER but there was def something off with the test. Will just have to wait and see as I’m now all out of tests x

sometimesalways · 18/08/2019 13:05

@Peanut1980 well I completely understand you! It's so so hard not to test. And yes to fishing test out of the bin to double check Grin been there done that.

Peanut1980 · 18/08/2019 19:41

@Lola124 good luck for tomorrow lovely 😘🤞🙏

Lola124 · 18/08/2019 20:06

Thankyou all its all I keep thinking about roll on tomorrow

elleceedee · 19/08/2019 07:44

Good luck for today’s update @Lola124

@Peanut1980 hope you can get another test today to double check that second line.

elleceedee · 19/08/2019 07:45

No real updates from me, just waiting for my follow up appointment with my clinic to decide next steps. DH has said absolutely no to another fresh round so we’ve just got the two Frosties left and got to hope for the best with those.

Caityprice · 19/08/2019 07:53

@Lola124 - fingers crossed for good news today!
@Peanut1980 - hope that second line was more than just evaporation 🤞
@elleceedee good you’ve still got Frosties to try?

Caityprice · 19/08/2019 07:55

@Lil221 how are you going on stims? Side effects okay?
