Hi everyone,

Thought I'd start a thread for those of us undergoing fertility treatment in July/August.

I'm (hopefully) having a FET late July/early August, anyone else want to hop on this thread for the ride?

So keep a good eye on your symptoms

TinyPaws · 04/08/2019 09:00

@sometimesalways I'm knackered too! But I think it's the puppy, the medication regime and the stress rather than any symptoms. Although I did started to get nausea on the evening on 7dpo in a previous pregnancy. My clinic have advised me to abstain from "vigorous exercise" so I volunteered at parkrun instead of running yesterday. I will be cycling to work and back on Monday but will just try and take it steady.

@sometimesalways @Dlpdep I've only had one embryo put back because we only have one. I'd quite like twins at this point though - the extra risks would concern me but if things had gone to plan I'd be TTC baby #2 about now so it would kind of feel like "catching up". Even with a single transfer my clinic have advised that if I do get pregnant the risk of identical twins is 2% (4% with use of assisted hatching). Triplets or higher would be disastrous so probably best to stick with a single transfer.

@Dlpdep My clinic want my TSH

So I spoke to the on call Doctor again last night and she said since the scan had cleared OHSS, she suspected I had constipation and gas, which can be caused by the progesterone and basically cause the same symptoms. Lol. So I’m now upping the dried fruit and probiotics.
She was like “drink plenty of water” and I wanted to yell back “I’m drinking over 3 litres a day and I’m not sure my body can take any more!” but I refrained. The doctor in A&E actually told me to go easy on the water because within ten minutes of giving a urine sample my bladder was already half full again. He was like “how much water are you drinking?!”
Anyway, onwards and upwards. I’ll keep monitoring the pain and bloating today. Embryo transfer is scheduled for Tuesday, and I don’t want that to get cancelled, so praying it resolves, but at the same time, I feel generally just rubbish. Right now doing daily needles looks like the fun part of the process!
No update from the clinic on our embryos since they told us 5 had fertilised, so I can only wait and hope they’re all (some?) still going.

Good luck to those having ET’s today!

Caityprice · 04/08/2019 09:39

Oh and @TinyPaws - have you got a rope toy? If so, whenever puppy tries to play tug with your clothes, offer the rope toy instead and see if you can train it as the good alternative.
If that doesn’t work, every time he (she?) uses your clothes as a toy, say No in a calm, low voice and detach him. If he does it again, really calmly pick him up and put him somewhere for a time out (another room with a closed door, a crate etc) and then let him out a few minutes later and offer a different toy. Basically trying to show that when he does that, he doesn’t get fun play time, but he does get fun play if he uses a proper toy :)

DawnK77 · 04/08/2019 09:46

@caityprice I had constipation after egg collection, I was told to take fibregel it's slow working but did eventually kick start me xx

sometimesalways · 04/08/2019 09:47

@TinyPaws I think it's exactly what @confused107 said, a big part of the exhaustion is the adrenaline and the Stress/waiting... I didn't get any morning sickness with my first pregnancy - in fact I don't remember having any symptoms at all - so there's absolutely no way of telling at this point for me ugh
How early is too early to test? 10 days? Last time I held out till day 14 and did it properly but don't know if I can do it now

@Caityprice it sounds very frustrating! We are under a lot of pressure for our bodies to perform in the way we want them to and not everybody understands... Fingers crossed though it sounds like you are ok! Are you feeling better overall today?

confused107 · 04/08/2019 09:59

How's everyone doing? Sorry I'm kind of loosing track of everyone on here, but hope you are all making the most of the weekend

@Caityprice glad to hear OHSS has been ruled out. Take it easy today. 5 is a great number and I have everything crossed for Tuesday. I must admit the progesterone is making me windy and bloated (nothing like yours though) and I'm getting some serious spots! Proper nasty some of these drugs

@TinyPaws scratch wasn't too bad. Just a sharp pain for a couple of seconds. I'm not sure what difference it makes, but it put my mind at rest. For the puppy pulling I would recommend firm no's and ignores and then distract with something you want to play with. They get it eventually. Took ours a while though, lost several work dresses and cardigans to the cause and tights were a lost cause for a while. I remember turning up to work with my tights shredded at the back- I hadn't noticed she got me 🤣 We love them really though

So far this weekend I have deep cleaned the kitchen, emptied the laundry basket and changed all the beds and towels. Started thinking about a holiday if this doesn't work, and brought an outfit for a 'big night out' I'm planning over the bank holiday if I not successful, hoping that if I plan for the worse, the best will happen and I will never get to wear the dress I brought, because I will be too pregnant to wear it! Thinking about some decorating next weekend. Seeing some family this afternoon which will break up the day a bit. I'm mostly just trying to keep my mind off things and mentally prepare for test day a week tomorrow

Parkandride · 04/08/2019 12:45

I've just had an email saying the embryologists are off when they're meant to do my egg collection so I need to take the pill for an extra week when I get my period.

Does this sound ok? It feels odd when everything else is so carefully timed with your period that it's suddenly ok to go an extra week. I don't want to risk my cycle

Maybe I'm underestimating how strong the drugs are but I'd now be having EC the day before my next period is due, I've never been able to take the combined pill back to back to prevent a bleed for example and I still ovulate on the mini pill. Does it increase the chance of ovulating before EC or anything.

Not sure if I need to kick up a fuss or if it's first cycle nerves and I should just trust them Sad

Bailey2017 · 04/08/2019 13:44

@Parkandride I've never heard of this before. And tbh its not fare on you to be all bloated for an extra week and taking medication on top of that. I don't think I would be very happy. I thought when your ready, they take them out. That's the whole reason for monitoring you so closely.

Could I ask how long it has taken people to come on their period after a failed FET please. I stopped my meds two days ago.

Parkandride · 04/08/2019 13:53

Think I'm confusing things, I'd be taking the pill for longer before starting stims. Got through on the phone and they said there's no risk and some women are on the pill for weeks, think I'm just being a nervous nelly. This process drives you crazy!

Lola124 · 04/08/2019 15:11

Hi ladies while I’m taking my first gonal f injection this evening is there anything else I should be taking /eating to help iv been taking folic acid and taking thyroxine because they wanted my levels below 2.5 and iv been told loads of water and I read some where Brazil nuts ?? Is there anything else that will help ? Thanx

Dlpdep · 04/08/2019 15:27

I had my egg transfer today. 1 embryo in, 3 to freeze with the possibility of more tomorrow. It’s a waiting game now. @Marmite83 I think you are today as well, best of luck.

Lola124 · 04/08/2019 15:33

Fingers crossed for you Dlpdep hopefully will bring you a nice big positive soon ,some to freeze aswell is great wishing you all the luck x

Marmite83 · 04/08/2019 16:00

Thanks @Dlpdep I had mine too Smile. One top grade embryo gone in, one more top grade and an AB frozen and possibly more tomorrow. It would be lovely if we have more to freeze tomorrow but if not I'm still really happy with what we have. Glad you're went well too!

@bailey2017 my husband and I have both been taking Proxeed. Its not cheap but my dh's sample was better than it's been before so worth the money in my view. I also take Inofolic (helps with PCOS), Probio 7 and Omega 3. I also have a very good AMH for my age.

@Parkandride they put me on Progesterone pessaries before I started stimming to delay my AF by a week to ensure I definitely wasn't pregnant before we started. It doesn't seem to have done any harm. Was just frustrating waiting an extra week.

Dlpdep · 04/08/2019 19:06

Sounds good @Marmite83! We just need to get through the next 2 weeks now. @Lola124 they reckon lucozade sport is good for electrolytes too.

Anyone else on Crinone?

Marmite83 · 04/08/2019 19:11

Whens your OTD @Dlpdep? Mine's 13 August which doesn't feel too long but I imagine it's really going to drag.

sometimesalways · 04/08/2019 20:06

Yay Good luck @Marmite83 @Dlpdep !

Dlpdep · 04/08/2019 21:08

Mine’s the 16th @Marmite83 which means I will prob be tempted to test on the 13th if that’s your’s! Thanks for all the good wishes everyone! Xx

Got my day 5 call today, oh my goodness this bit is nervewracking. Thought I was going to be sick this morning! But it was good news - two are already ready for PGS testing, an AA and a BB. There is a third they also think will be ready today, it's doing its final thing. And we have four that look like they might be ready tomorrow. The final one is definitely not going to progress. So massive fingers crossed we have some genetically normal ones in there!! Grin

How are you all doing? Did you get any day 6 embryos @Marmite83 and @Dlpdep?

Peanut1980 · 05/08/2019 14:12

That’s great news @orangefolly 😁🤞

I had my final scan today. I’m due to trigger tonight. Just waiting a phone call to confirm the time. EC will be on Wednesday morning.

D x

Marmite83 · 05/08/2019 16:03

That's great news @orangefolly. Fingers crossed for you. We had one more to freeze, so 3 frozen in total.

Exciting @Peanut1980, good luck for Wednesday

Dlpdep · 05/08/2019 16:24

We didn’t have any more to freeze today so also 3 in the freezer. @orangefolly that’s super news!!! Congrats! Best of luck with the trigger shot @Peanut1980

Peanut1980 · 05/08/2019 18:43

Thanks ladies. I’m so uncomfortable at the moment. I’ll be pleased once I’ve been harvested although I was in a fair amount of discomfort after my last egg collection. Bring on the sedation! 🥳🤘🏻

orangefolly · 05/08/2019 18:56

Eek exciting @Peanut1980 good luck! I agree it's nice to have EC over with even if you are a bit sore
