Hi everyone,

Thought I'd start a thread for those of us undergoing fertility treatment in July/August.

I'm (hopefully) having a FET late July/early August, anyone else want to hop on this thread for the ride?

@bailey2017 thank you and good luck for tomorrow. After my last FET I had to wait for one full cycle and then started a fresh cycle on my 2nd period x

Bailey2017 · 01/08/2019 23:07

@Peanut1980 that seems so long away 😭 but thank you!

BFN this morning. So round two it is. Feel OK tbh. I'm glad I tested two days early as I've had my cry and I've picked myself up and I'm ready to move forward. Good luck everyone wirh your journey! X

Peanut1980 · 02/08/2019 08:29

@bailey2017 I’m so sorry to hear about your BFN. Take time out to do some things that make you happy. Have some you time before starting your next cycle.

Im guessing you’ll now have a review meeting with your consultant? Are you unexplained infertility or do you have a reason? We’re unexplained. I wanted to do a million tests after our first failed cycle. I wanted answers. Our consultant was very good and gave me all the options but for us advised against PGS testing at this point. For our 2nd cycle we’ve increased the stims to produce more eggs and then added blood thinners to stop clotting in the uterus plus steroids incase there’s an immune issue within my body attacking the embryo.

Take some time out. Make a list of questions and get your review appointment booked.

Take care of yourself xx

Dlpdep · 02/08/2019 08:29

@FingersXssd83 and @Bailey2017 I’m so sorry to read your updates. It’s so hard. Do something nice for yourselves today and look after yourselves.

Brambles7 · 02/08/2019 08:53

@FingersXssd83 and @Bailey2017 I’m so sorry to hear your updates!

Allow yourself time to grieve and indulge in those things you haven’t been during the process.

orangefolly · 02/08/2019 09:06

Oh no I'm so sorry @FingersXssd83 and @Bailey2017 - it's such a disappointment after all the time and effort and money and hope, I know. Thinking of you both.

@Caityprice I guess you'll be hearing soon how many fertilized. Got my fingers crossed for you! You were very good to take the tube, I insisted on Uber Grin

@Peanut1980 any idea when your EC will be yet?

Caityprice · 02/08/2019 09:23

@FingersXssd83 and @Bailey2017 - my heart goes out to you both. It’s so hard to keep hoping through this process and it takes amazing strength to keep doing it. Also @bailey2017, your friend with 16 cycles! That’s amazing, I take my hat (and everything else) off to her.

@orangefolly - I’m basically just sitting and staring at my phone waiting for the call from the embryologist. Deep breaths.

confused107 · 02/08/2019 09:58

@Caityprice @Dlpdep @orangefolly fingers and toes crossed for good news this morning

@FingersXssd83 and @Bailey2017 I'm so sorry to hear your news. This whole process is so shit. I can't imagine what it must be like to go through 16 cycles of this. I hope you manage to have some time to yourself this weekend xx

Dlpdep · 02/08/2019 10:04

We are still holding on to 9 embryos. I read somewhere that day 1-3 is to do with the quality of the eggs, after that it’s to do with the quality of the sperm. I have a scan at 11.30 to check for OHSS, which will determine whether this will be a fresh transfer or a freeze all. The fact that we should hopefully have a few to freeze, I’m leaning towards transferring one rather than two at the moment. If the first transfer fails then look at two the next time. It all depends on how the next few days go though.

Caityprice · 02/08/2019 10:54

So we have 5 eggs fertilised! I cried after the call I think because I had been so worried we wouldn’t have any, and yet also was hoping for more. What a mess :)

My transfer is booked for Tuesday. They said I wouldn’t hear from them between now and then, so I guess I only find out on day 5 how many make it to that stage? But I assume given they’ve booked me in that they must think some will make it. It’s not the clearest process. I’m with guy’s (NHS funded) and I feel like if you’re at other clinics you get a lot more info/updates!

Caityprice · 02/08/2019 10:55

@Dlpdep yay for nine embryos and fingers crossed for your scan. Do you feel like you have OHSS symptoms?

Peanut1980 · 02/08/2019 12:16

That’s great news @caityprice 🎉

@orangefolly I had another scan today. Currently on 11 day stims. All looking good. Have another scan on Monday morning. They said I should be in for EC on Wednesday of next week. Day after my sons birthday... phew! I haven’t told my folks about us doing IVF. My sis knows and would have helped with looking after my son but she’s on holiday. So I’ve had to think up some excuse so my parents can have my son for a few hours on Wednesday. I HATE lying 🙈🙈🙈

sometimesalways · 02/08/2019 13:19

Oh no @FingersXssd83 @Bailey2017 that's crap news. This is such a shit process and there's no guarantees for any one. And luck plays such a huge role, please take it easy...

@Caityprice 5 fertilised is a great number! We had 5 embryos too. It give you good odds. Good luck for Tuesday! No news is good news Smile

Dlpdep · 02/08/2019 13:56

I had my scan, right ovary is fine, left ovary has a little bit of fluid around it. They will scan me again on Sunday and if it gets worse it will be freeze all, a break cycle and then I guess Sept FET, but they think at this stage I will probably be ok for Sunday. Interestingly she said that the 7th day after egg collection is meant to be the worst.

Bailey2017 · 02/08/2019 14:12

Thank you all. I am going to buy a bottle of wine later and drink it all!! I think I deserve that much.

@Peanut1980 thanks for that advice... Have you had egg collection yet? Sorry its hard keeping up with everything. If so how many fertilised etc? Yes we also are unexplained fertility, both really fit and well aswel, which is annoying sometimes.

Peanut1980 · 02/08/2019 14:30

@bailey2017 good on you! Make it a special bottle and enjoy every drop.

Me egg collection is on Wednesday of next week 🤞🙏

Dlpdep · 02/08/2019 14:39

Are people drinking etc between egg collection and transfer? I’m not a big drinker any way and could go months without touching a drop but I wouldn’t half mind a glass of vino tonight. Not sure what the advice is.

sometimesalways · 02/08/2019 15:16

@Dlpdep that is a very good question. I haven't been drinking either. Same as you, I don't miss it much, but with the warm weather I wouldn't mind a cool beer! But have been avoiding it, in case it changes anything. Consultant never said I couldn't drink though.

Bailey2017 · 02/08/2019 15:30

@Peanut1980 oh do let me know how you get on 🤞🤞🤞

@Dlpdep were not big drinkers either. We never drink in the house, but I'm in a sod it kind of mood today. I think I'm going to have 4 weeks off this time, I had 8 weeks off last time. So I've got a few weeks of socialising with friends and letting my hair down abit again.

Marmite83 · 02/08/2019 15:33

@FingersXssd83, @Bailey2017 I'm so sorry, thinking of you both. Wine sounds like a good plan @Bailey2017.

That sounds fairly positive @Dlpdep, fingers crossed all ok for transfer on Sunday.

I'm not a big drinker but I've been trying to follow a dairy free, low refined sugar and no potatoes or white carbs diet to try to help with my PCOS. Since egg collection I've been letting myself enjoy some cheese and chocolate. Figured it should be ok if the embryos aren't currently in me but I have nothing scientific to back that up.

Embryologist called this morning to say we still have 11 embryos. 2 A grade, 4 B grade and the rest aren't progressing so well but they're keeping an eye on them all still for now. Booked for transfer on Sunday morning. I've not been feeling very well the last few days, very lethargic and a bit nauseous. They think it's the medication I'm on rather than OHSS as they can't see any fluid on the scan i had today but they're going to re-assess on Sunday and we may have to freeze instead of transfer. Also waiting for my blood test results which may change things. For now I'm just hoping we get some blasts.

Vegasdreaming27 · 02/08/2019 16:12

Hi
Hope it's to join in. So my situation is 1 have 1 DC from our first fresh cycle 3 years ago, no frozen. Have had 1 failed fresh cycle this year again no frozens and overall I had a really poor response as we only got 2 eggs and only 1 was mature. Had egg collection on Wednesday and despite having 13 follicles only got 5 eggs, 3 fertilised and as of this morning all 3 were still ok. Will know tomorrow if transfer will be day 3 (tomorrow) or day 5. This part is so hard this time as this will be our last shot as self funded.
@Dlpdep I had a couple of glasses of wine the night before my first transfer and it was successful so don't think it will hurt.
Good luck to everyone going through this and so sorry to those that haven't been successful.

confused107 · 02/08/2019 16:12

@Marmite83 sounds like a great number and quality of eggs. Sorry you haven't been feeling so well, hope you feel better soon and it all goes to plan on Sunday

@Dlpdep after my egg collection they advised me not to drink alcohol for 24 hours, I've not bloody drank in months!!! The diet/drinking thing is tough as there doesn't seem to be much evidence for specific diets so I've just been trying to eat healthy as much as I can with no caffeine or alcohol. The nurse told me to just do what I wouldn't beat myself up about if the round wasn't successful. I'm not a big drinker but I did miss having a glass of fizz on my birthday, and if anything is going to drive yourself to the bottle it's this!

I'm only 3 days into the two week wait and it's already driving me mad. I had some 'pulling pains' in my stomach last night so googled it. It's both a good and bad sign!

Ive been undertaking massive googling projects including trying to figure out the odds of success, failure stories, success stories against the odds. Early pregnancy symptoms, early miscarriage symptoms and natural IVF....I can't say this has been the most productive working week of my life!

Dlpdep · 02/08/2019 16:25

Thanks everyone. I think I’m going to have one drink tonight. Eggs are out so not going to affect that and not back in, so won’t affect that.

@confused107 when I had my DD it wasn’t through IVF but on a medicated cycle. I had had two previous miscarriages and drove myself quite mad on Dr Google. I had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever, no morning sickness, no twinges, no implantation bleeds. I didn’t ‘feel’ pregnant. To compound matters my placenta was to the front which acted as a muffler to kicks so I didn’t feel any flutters until 25 weeks pregnant. I had a scan every week up till 14 weeks as I couldn’t believe that I was still pregnant. At that point I bought a Doppler and it brought me some relief. There are mixed views on Dopplers but it was a life saver for me. You will only drive yourself nuts googling.
