Hi everyone

I’m creating a new thread with the hope of finding people with similar dates to me. I am due to start medication on May 13th with the hope egg collection will be June 19th. I’m 34, female factor fertility.

Anyone else out there with similar dates?

@Cauliflower82 I'm sure it will become like second nature after a few days. Is your DP around? Can they help?

Yes it'll be a 5 day blastocyst - the package we signed up to guarantees 5 day blasts🤞

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 13/05/2019 21:36

@cauliflower82! Yes mine has settled down now! Do you pinch your skin before you inject? That’s what I do and very rarely bleed! Yes I took paracetamol as they get quite bad if it’s anything like last time I’m hoping it settles after a few days!

@jemimafuddleduck just out of curiosity how can they guarantee them to get to 5 days?

jemimafuddleduck · 13/05/2019 21:48

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF they just don't use them if they don't get to day 5. So if they're no good, we start again I guess!

Cauliflower82 · 14/05/2019 07:18

@Finallytakingtheplungewithivf yeah my husband is around and his job is to put together the syringe 💉. Yip i pinched the skin but it still bled. I’m wondering if it took me too long to get the liquid in because I did totally take my time - possibly a good 45 seconds to a minute?! Maybe a little longer. It felt like some of the liquid came out with the blood too. How gruesome. Good morning everyone.

@jemimafuddleduck that’s great that you’re guaranteed a 5 day. Do you get one or does it just depend?

@cauilflower hummm not sure I get mine in as quick as I can as I don’t like it being in there! When I was stimming last time I know when i was using cetrotide I did one of the injections and some of it came back out but don’t think it’s anything to worry about!

Mrbay · 14/05/2019 09:54

@Cauliflower82 did you let go of your pinched skin before you pressed the plunger?

Cauliflower82 · 14/05/2019 10:44

@Mrbay no, I didn’t - should I let go of the pinched skin?

@Finallytakingtheplungewithivf I do think a bit cane out! Argh. I’m not very good at this.

OP posts:
Mrbay · 14/05/2019 10:48

@Cauliflower82 - yep, as I found out through another poster that they managed to squeeze some out when they didn't let go. Don't worry some would have got in and plus the excess may have been absorbed through the skin

DawnK77 · 14/05/2019 13:36

Hi all, thanks for the info, I start new job Monday so I'm just going to have to wing it I think. Bad timing!

@Zest11 my nurses appointment was all info about my medication, went through it, had a practice , medication should be being delivered by a company called Stork on Thursday and then I'll start Metformin and Northeristine (can't spell it again lol sorry girls) on Friday, so all systems go!

Can I ask a TMI question, Egg Collection, anyone who has had this done already, what pain relief did you get? I'm not being put to sleep they are giving me enough drugs they said that I hopefully don't care what they do to me, they also mentioned a suppository for me to put up my bum, this is making me more nervous than anything else, I'm hoping I'm just being dramatic lol, but I've never read about this? Has anyone else had this?

CornishMaid1 · 14/05/2019 17:13

Hi everyone.

Hope you're all okay. I haven't been on in a few days.

@Cauliflower82 I did get a few drops of blood when I was on it last time, but not much. I did rash though. I didn't for the first few injections but then it started - I think it was the extra in my system. It tended to go away after 30 minutes if not before and you can get a localised reaction. If it is worse than that, best check in case it is an allergic reaction.

@DawnK77 - I was not properly asleep, but was sedated. I did conk out though as I don't really remember anything after they started. The worst part was the canula they put in your hand to give the antibiotics before hand - as you are no fluids beforehand you are a bit dehydrates so it hurts a bit going in.

Afterwards, I just had painkillers and a hot water bottle. To be fair it may have been worse, but I was so numb from the failed cycle that I was not with it at all that day. I don't even remember the drive home after.

You do get medication for luteal support that you start after the egg collection. Depends which you end up on. The common ones are taken internally, but which way depends on which type, so you could end up with suppositories. The ones I was given were to be taken vaginally, some can go either way. Don't know much as I never had to take them (I only had one egg collected and it didn't fertilise) but I know people have said before to lie down for a bit after putting them in to try to keep some inside as the leaking out is unpleasant. The things we put ourselves through!

Zest11 · 14/05/2019 20:19

Thank you Dawn77 for updating. It is helpful to know what to expect. I think you are about 10 days ahead of me so it will be really helpful to hear your experience. Good luck with the injections, I hope the side effects are okay for you Smile

mouse1234567 · 14/05/2019 20:49

@jemimafuddleduck sorry to hear your lining isn’t quite where it needs to be -but it sounds like you are making progress and I really hope this continues. Fingers crossed you are not far off!

@DawnK77 hope all goes well when you start the drugs -hopefully a new job will be a good distraction. I was sedated for my egg collection and it was great I remember nothing (in this way it felt like a general anaesthetic) just falling asleep and next minute waking and it all being over. Felt quite happy and drunk after -not a bad feeling at all!! Especially when you haven’t been able to drink for quite a while!

Hope everyone is getting on ok. I’m on day 7/12 on norethisterone and no side effects other than a few spots now developing. Feeling good -just want time to hurry and pass -still feels so far away! Buserelin first injection tomorrow! Will be strange being back on the injections but again I’m quite keen to get started!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 14/05/2019 21:10

@mouse1234567 I don’t find them as hard as the first time think all the previous injections have toughened up that part of my stomach!

Cauliflower82 · 14/05/2019 21:16

Thanks everyone 🙏
Tonight’s injection included no leakage or blood. Progress is being made.

LittleOne3 · 14/05/2019 21:21

@Cauliflower82 How did today's injection go? Did you feel better about it? I'm on 2 a day now and my stomach is covered in little bruises.

@mouse1234567 are you doing a FET or fresh cycle?

@DawnK77 yes I have progesterone suppositories as well. Apparently you take them for 8 weeks (!) after implantation (if it's a successful pregnancy). I'm not keen but will be better than injections I'm sure 🙄

@jemimafuddleduck How's the viagra? Any side effects?

I had my first scan on the stims today. Follicles all quite small so they've just said continue more of the same. And tomorrow I go for acupuncture which is quite exciting - I was a bit sceptical but everyone I've spoken to has been really positive.

Nice to hear from everyone 😁 xx

Mrbay · 14/05/2019 21:31

@dawn77 be careful with your diet whilst on metformin, I'm pretty sure it removes the oil from your diet so it can cause leakage - it's also used for weight loss.

Had an awkward convo at work when I was looking for painkillers - why is paracetamol so hard to find?!

Anyone else really bloated and needed a wee multiple times an hour??

DawnK77 · 14/05/2019 21:51

Hi all, thanks! I'm wondering if I've got wrong end of the stick about the suppository but she mentioned the vagional ones after egg transfer until told to stop, but I'm sure she mentioned one up the bum as pain relief or numbing on the day of egg collection .

Thanks Mrbay re Metformin, I need to have a research then, but hopefully will keep any weight gain down, are you taking them?

Zest no worries I'll keep you updated , I've been emotional all day just cause they rang to book in dropping off all the drugs. When's your nurses app? Xx

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 14/05/2019 22:10

@Dawnk77 you do not have the wrong end the stick! When I had ec I had to give consent got them to put them up my bum when sedated! Oh the shame
Apart from that I had paracetamol drip which goes in a matter off minutes and then I was still in pain so I had some codeine after that it was home and just paracetamol for a couple of days!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 14/05/2019 22:11

@cauliflower82 well done! It does get easier after a few x

Mrbay · 14/05/2019 23:23

@dawn77 - I'm not but I used to give them to pony for weight loss and insulin resistance. I was very jealous of her 90kg drop over a few weeks!

mouse1234567 · 15/05/2019 07:58

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF that’s good to hear re the injections -the needles look the same as last time so I’m glad about that.

@LittleOne3 I’m doing a frozen transfer although it will be my first as had to do a freeze all in April.

I will be on three Injections post transfer and I said to my husband Yesterday was potentially my last day in about 12 weeks injection free -quite a daunting thought-although obviously I will be over the moon if I have the continue them into pregnancy! I will be on blood thinners and then I have low progesterone so two injections for that a day too.

Zest11 · 15/05/2019 16:56

Thank you dawn77 it will be helpful. My appt is a week Friday and I will start the injections the following Weds.

Reading everyone's comments I am a bit worried about the injections...I took ovitrelle once for IUI to time my ovulation with my clinic's opening hours and I think I naively thought it would be as straightforward as that. It looks like they are painful / more complicated?? Can anyone answer? Are they okay? What affect did the meds have on your MH? I have been struggling with dealing with all of this at the best of times but think I have just about got things under control.

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 15/05/2019 18:38

@zest11 I think it depends on what meds you are on! I was on bemfola which was fine and then had to start cetrotide which was a stingy itchy one! I wouldn’t say painful just when your doing more then one a day doesn’t really give you time to heal so can get a bit bruised/sore! MH wise it was ok I think I got more fed up about the bloating as I was really uncomfortable having so many follicles! I’m buserelin no for a fet and so far apart from a headache it’s going ok!
Hope that helps!

Applecart11 · 15/05/2019 18:45

@zest11 I am on Buserelin and have had no problems so far except for a little sting when the liquid goes in but hardly anything really. Been on for a week and no symptoms yet except tiredness.
Anyone that has done buserelin before, did you get normal PMS symptoms before tour bleed? Just coming up to a week now and wondering if I should be expecting my normal symptoms if it’s close?!?

mouse1234567 · 15/05/2019 21:05

@zest11 don’t worry the injections aren’t too bad -whenever you start it always takes a bit of getting used to but after a while it’s second nature. My symptoms were more just tiredness, bloating etc before EC but I think that’s to be expected from all the stimulating.

Just did my first buserelin-good to be back in the horse! Hopefully the next few weeks pass quickly!
