Hi everyone

I’m creating a new thread with the hope of finding people with similar dates to me. I am due to start medication on May 13th with the hope egg collection will be June 19th. I’m 34, female factor fertility.

Anyone else out there with similar dates?

@Claudie86 welcome. I haven't really heard about that but good to hear @Ginandtonic31 also has experience of that. It is also my greatest fear that after going through all the rigmarole I end up with nothing. 2 embryos in the freezer is good.

I'm starting to think about how many to put back (if I have any options). If you get two good ones, do you think you are given a choice between one in and one freeze or both in? I ask only because you don't often hear about having just one in the freezer...

Booksandstuff · 27/05/2019 11:49

Hi @Claudie86. Totally understand your concern, but two is a good number. Just takes one!

@KittyKatSmile I think you can still just freeze one. Would you consider transferring two?

Three days after the transfer for me. Feeling really headachey and generally a bit crap. Skin is awful too. Had bloods done this morning and low on progesterone so now increasing to 8 pessaries a day! Joy. Also had a second HCG shot which I wasn't expecting but nurse said standard for my clinic.

I'm not in the UK, so it's been a normal work day for me. Jealous of your bank holiday!

KittyKatSmile · 27/05/2019 13:23

@Booksandstuff I might consider two. I'm getting on a bit and I think that's when they start suggesting more than 1. I think my clinic has got its own views so I'll just see what they say. Apparently transferring two doesn't even increase your chances so I'm not sure what the point is, especially if you could try again separately with that second one. Also I'm doing this on my own so I'm not hugely excited about the idea of twins. Although of course I'd rather have twins than never having a baby Grin

That is quite a lot of pessaries. Wow. Hope you're hanging on in there and not going crazy x

TwistofFate · 27/05/2019 13:31

@KittyKatSmile The embryologist told us that for my age group (under 38) they tend to only put one unless the quality of all embryos is low. Having said that, I know two different mums with twins who were both under 35 who requested two fresh transferred due to previous failed cycles with single embryos. It's worth discussing with your clinic.

mikkyr · 27/05/2019 15:00

@kittykatsmile

Ive come on here specifically to update a thread I started a couple weeks ago about how many embryos to transfer and I spotted your post.

I am 40. No fertility issues I know of. Husband had a vasectomy 10 years ago so we opted for ICSI.

We have 8 frozen embryos in 3 straws. We chose to implant 1 against our consultants advice as we were petrified of having multiples.

Today I did by 2nd beta and am officially BFP!

KittyKatSmile · 27/05/2019 16:11

@TwistofFate, that makes sense but I'm not in that age group so they may suggest multiple and seems to fit in with what @mikkyr has experienced. Amazing news! Congratulations! How are you feeling??

Weenumpty · 27/05/2019 17:20

Eeek egg collection on Wednesday so I have to do my trigger tonight and day off injections tomorrow! I am already feeling anxious and don't think I'll sleep tonight never mind tomorrow! Anyone else the same/similar timing?

RRoonilWazlib · 28/05/2019 06:39

@Claudie86 I'm sorry you didn't get as many eggs as you had hoped, but like you said 4 is better than 0!

How is everyone this morning? I have my lining scan this morning so keeping my fingers crossed all is good and we can book the transfer for next week!!!

mouse1234567 · 28/05/2019 08:47

@Weenumpty good luck today -try to relax. Easier said than done I know -I found the waiting quite hard but EC was so much easier than I expected.

@RRoonilWazlib hope your lining looks good! I have my first lining scan on Friday so may not be far behind you. Although she did say I may need a few so will just have to play it by ear. Is this your first FEt? It is mine.

KittyKatSmile · 28/05/2019 08:52

@Weenumpty good luck! Enjoy the sleep and the relaxation afterwards!

I'm just waiting for (fake?) AF and then first scan on Thursday before stims. Forgot to bring the dexamethasone with me to work today, Googled what to do and wish I hadn't. What a terrible drug to be putting into my poor body!! (It says not to go out into the sun! Ha! I'd have spent the bank holiday in Spain if it hadn't been raining there!)

Have a good day all

Claudie86 · 28/05/2019 09:00

@RRoonilWazlib definitely happy with the result so far despite the initial shock. Smile Keep us posted on your lining, fingers crossed you can book the appointment for next week!

@Weenumpty I found it scary but exciting at the same time, it's another step closer! Don't worry too much about EC, it's pretty manageable. Just take care of yourself afterwards and take it easy. Will be thinking of you! Keep us posted

Cauliflower82 · 28/05/2019 12:14

@Finallytakingtheplungewithivf do we need to bleed when downregulating? I started buserelin on day 2 and I’ve not had a bleed since my normal period finished. I’m on day 15 now :(.

@spongebob79 that’s excellent news :).

@weenumpty happy injection free today! How are you feeling now about tomorrow? I’m a bit worried about doing the trigger shot - how did you find it?

@rroonilwazlib how did your scan go?

Day 15 of buserelin. Did anyone notice any popping of the ears? My head keeps feeling a bit whoozy.

We’re all properly in the midst of it all now. Are people planning on a summer holiday even if they’re pregnant? I can’t decide what to do.

OP posts:
RRoonilWazlib · 28/05/2019 12:30

Thanks guys! My scan went really well, my lining has built up perfectly! They have taken a blood sample to check I've not had a follicle burst - the consultant thinks its highly unlikely but could see some signs of something so wanted to check. Bloods should be back by tomorrow so if all is well transfer will be on Monday!!!!!

Currently on a train home so will read everyones updates later on! Xxxx

Claudie86 · 28/05/2019 13:22

@RRoonilWazlib - great news! Fingers crossed for Monday.

@Cauliflower82 - good point about the upcoming summer holiday. My DH and I haven't planned anything yet, and to be honest I haven't really felt like booking anything either (which is quite weird for me Grin). But I know I need a break, so I'll look into a destination which is easy and safe in case we'd get pregnant.

KittyKatSmile · 28/05/2019 15:14

@Cauliflower82 welcome back! Do you know when you start stims? I had noresthisterone as well as buserelin which brings on a bleed and I think sort of resets you so that the clinic knows exactly where you're starting from. That is my understanding of it all at least.

I think you should probably book a holiday. For me the stress is not around whether or not I'm pregnant but more whether or not I need to be here in the relentless pursuit of becoming pregnant. I don't feel I can wait at all.

I'm feeling slightly glum today. So many things are going wrong in my life at the moment; I just want one thing to go right for me. I'll buck up by tomorrow.

Weenumpty · 28/05/2019 17:14

@Cauliflower82 the trigger was fine, I was a bit nervous because it seems such an important step but it's really simple. I found it much easier than mixing the menopur. I am so happy to not have to inject anything tonight! I have felt very queasy today though which is a side effect of the trigger but nothing too bad. I won't lie I am super stressed about tomorrow, you've all been very reassuring I just know how much pain I've been in with normal scans so worried I'll really feel it. Hopefully I'll be on tomorrow to say it was a doddle!

TwistofFate · 28/05/2019 17:26

@KittyKatSmile Sorry to hear you're feeling down, hope things get easier for you.

@Weenumpty Very best of luck for tomorrow, hope it goes well and will be thinking of you.

RRoonilWazlib · 28/05/2019 17:28

Eugh, a call from the clinic and a cancelled cycle Sad

Even though I had been doing Fyremadel injections to stop ovulation, I still ovulated so my progesterone levels were high which almost have guaranteed a failed cycle! No transfer on Monday.

I've got to sit tight and wait for aunt flo to arrive which should be in the next 2 weeks and then I need to go for a scan on day 1, 2 or 3 of my cycle and then hopefully restart the meds!

Dgeirhdjsjskshdvsjsiddb :(

RRoonilWazlib · 28/05/2019 17:29

Although on the plus side, my lining was great so at least the oestrogen patches were doing their job. And I wouldn't have wanted to do transfer and waste one of my lovely IPs blasts.

Bring on Aunt Flo.

KittyKatSmile · 28/05/2019 17:33

@RRoonilWazlib oh noooooo. That is so disappointing. You seem in fairly good spirits, that's good to hear.

RRoonilWazlib · 28/05/2019 17:43

@KittyKatSmile I'm trying to be positive, apparently what has happened only happens randomly in 5% of cases so it isnt anything that we did or didnt do. It sounds like they're not going to change any meds on my next cycle or anything. I have PCOS myself and my cycles are irregular so to hear I've already ovulated is reassuring that we wont be waiting too long to try again!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 28/05/2019 18:33

@cauliflower82 I’m not sure for you but as I’m doing a fet I started buserelin on day 21 so would normally get af between day 26-28 which didn’t happen! But turns out I didn’t need the tabs as af started later on after my scan even though I’d taken two so I stopped and just let af come! Have rebooked my scan for Friday so fingers crossed my lining is super thin and then I can start on progynova!
@RRoonilwazlib sorry your cycle got cancelled!

I am really behind on the thread so will try catch up but hope everyone else is ok?

Spongebob79 · 28/05/2019 18:46

@RRoonnilwazlib sorry to hear that your cycle has been cancelled you must be feeling disappointed, you get yourself all ready for everything and then it’s stopped. I had that with my first cycle when the found a polyp but in the long run it’s best to have everything as optimal as can be.

@cauliflower82 you seem to be doing well on the downregging do you know when you start stims?

So my donor had her ec today and we have been allocated 9 eggs all of which were mature and were suitable for icsi. I’m over the moon with that, miles better than my body ever managed to do. So now we wait for a call tomorrow to see how many have fertilised.

In other news puppy comes home on Saturday, it’s such a lovely distraction and so well timed as I have 2 weeks off work to settle her in.

Cauliflower82 · 28/05/2019 20:03

@rroonnilwazib oh no! I can’t believe that. Oh well, you sound pretty positive though about moving forward so that’s good.

@claudie86 yeah I’m leaning towards booking something too. Do you have anywhere in mind?

@kittykatsmile I have a baseline scan a week Wednesday to check if I’m fully shut down 😂. Tbh, I’m not convinced the drugs are working - I’ve had ewcm for over a week now. Sorry for the tmi.
IVF sucks without even thinking about other stuff that’s going on. I hope you’re okay and you’ve got plenty of support around you.

@weenumpty best of luck for tomorrow. Let us know how you get on once you’re feeling up to it. Thank you for the reassurances. I’m terrified of the trigger shot 😟. I’m just worried I’ll mess it up.

@finallytakingtheplungewithivf it’s so weird that we’re all on different drugs and protocols.

@spongebob79 thank you - I really cant complain tbh. I’ve got no bruises on my stomach at all now - the nurse did say I had a particularly good technique when I was practising 😂. I’m hoping to start stimms a a week tomorrow. Wow! That’s going to be scary - two injections!! 9 eggs - that’s excellent news. Let us know what you hear tomorrow. I’ll be keeping everything crossed. Also, good news on the puppy. I love my dog to pieces - she’s my absolute angel.

Hello everyone, it's nice to catch up with all your stories again 🙂. I disappeared for a little while, I needed to take a break. All the uncertainty of freeze/fresh transfer just zapped my energy/enthusiasm entirely.

Anyway they finally confirmed I could have my egg transfer 10 minutes before I had it done this morning 👏👏👏👏. So I now have a grade B embryo in me 😁😁😁. Really chuffed and has sorted my mood no end! Still at high risk of OHSS, but because I've had no symptoms so far we decided to take the gamble instead of freezing all.

@weenumpty not sure if your protocol is the same as mine but after trigger that meant no more injections at all this cycle? If so then big congrats! 🥂🥂🥂 Good luck for tomorrow 🤞.

@Rroonnilwazib Really sorry about your cycle. As you wrote,
'Dgeirhdjsjskshdvsjsiddb Sad'
Probably sums it up. Hope the next 2 weeks go quickly.

@KittyKatSmile sorry its all looking pear shaped for you at the mo. If it helps, I have very much needed my 5 day wallow in self pity. You will come out the other side but take your time.

Xx
