Birmingham Women’s Hospital waiting list?

We have just received confirmation that we are eligible for one free treatment on the NHS at Birmingham Women’s hospital. Does anyone know what there waiting list time is at the moment, or how do I find out?
It’s already been 2 1/2 years of waiting so if it’s long we really can’t afford to wait due to our ages!
Any help would be appreciated. 😀

I was on the IVF rollercoaster in 2014/2015 with a Bham Women's - I would say from GP referral to being ready to start injections was getting on for at least 12 months - you have to wait for appointment letters through the post for everything - you can't just book them in at reception to a time which is convenient for you and your partner - so when the appointment letters arrive you might have to rearrange them which sets you back again. Then they don't do treatment around Xmas and you also have to attend an open evening before you can go ahead.
I actually found out I was pregnant naturally the day I was due to start injections so we didn't need them in the end.

I've actually just done a private round of IVF with Create (near the airport) - wait time was......2 weeks!

Hi op sorry for jumping on your post but I have my first appointment with Birmingham next week, had tests and so has my husband through the doctors just wondering what happens on a first appointment? X

KirstoStevo · 14/03/2019 21:49

Thank you for your reply! That’s such a long time, I’m ready now and waited for so long!
It’s lovely to hear that you got pregnant before your first treatment, and I hope your IVF cycle has gone well!
Thanks again x 👍😘

I have a friend who is just starting with Bham and she has the opening evening st the lecture theatre later this month which she found a bit odd. But how long does it tend to be after the open evening that treatment starts? Would be nice to reassure her.

Hi Ladies

Following this as I am also going to have IVF with PGD at Birmingham Womens in the near future.

We had our first appointment in December 18 but were told I had to lose about 8lbs first as BMI was too high.....this was due to experiencing 5 miscarriages. So we have our next appointment in a few weeks.
Really unsure what happens following this appointment so will be following to see what others have experienced.

I was aware that you have to attend a group/open event so hope they run these regularly x

KirstoStevo · 25/03/2019 19:51

They run the open evenings monthly. They had one in March, but I was told they had three planned in April. I’m still waiting to hear when our open evening will be. Hopefully soon!

Ah that's great! Thanks for letting me know :)
Hope we both get to attend one soon x

I am here tomorrow for my first appointment, and feel now that I might have booked the wrong place. Feel like I maybe should have opted for Worcester Royal? I don't know what different hospitals procedures are, but I feel like I just want to get on with this, we have been TTC for almost 8 years and we've had all the tests done, with a view to speeding things up, but it sounds like we might still have to do all these things again, and still have another possible 12 month wait? I just hope tomorrow brings good news. Confused

Hi,
My letter goes off on Monday to see if I get the funding. How are you getting on? Have you had your IVF now?

Hi girls
Do you mind if I join?
I’ve got my first appointment at birmingham women’s next month.
It took three months from referral to appointment. I’ve phoned every day for cancellations but not got one! Just want to get started already xx

SophieSlater2018 · 06/08/2019 19:10

Hi @babydust235.
That's a surprise they usually always have cancellations. Is it in gynaecology outpatients ?xx

babydust235 · 06/08/2019 19:23

@SophieSlater2018 Yes, Gynaecology Outpatients. I was quite upset when my appointment was three months away but thought I would get a cancellation. I've given up phoning now, might as well wait until my appointment next month. Have you had your first appointment X

SophieSlater2018 · 06/08/2019 19:26

Hi @babydust235
I wouldnt give up. Keep phoning.
Nope I've had 4 appointments there already. Now awaiting for IVF funding then I will have all my next appointments in the fertility centre xx

babydust235 · 06/08/2019 19:40

@SophieSlater2018 4 appointments, why so many?! Looks like I'm a long way off starting yet then 😩 X

SophieSlater2018 · 06/08/2019 19:42

I have PCOS so I tried different options before the IVF
This includes the first appointment having further tests
Then 6months of letrozole
And 6 months of clomid xx

babydust235 · 06/08/2019 20:03

@SophieSlater2018 aww bless, you've been through so much already! X

SophieSlater2018 · 06/08/2019 20:22

@babydust235
It will all depend on your circumstances.
Your journey will be so different to mine. Keep in touch xx

Maybe2020 · 06/08/2019 21:20
