Birmingham Women’s Hospital waiting list?

KirstoStevo · 11/03/2019 17:28

We have just received confirmation that we are eligible for one free treatment on the NHS at Birmingham Women’s hospital. Does anyone know what there waiting list time is at the moment, or how do I find out?
It’s already been 2 1/2 years of waiting so if it’s long we really can’t afford to wait due to our ages!
Any help would be appreciated. 😀

Just wondered how everyone was doing on here? Xx

SophieSlater2018 · 08/10/2019 19:18

@Maybe202020 is your username changing all the time Haha. I'm good thanks. Had my group on the 26th and by the Saturday I had my nurse appointment come through. The session it was informative. My nurse appointment is TOMORROW. How are you?

babydust235 · 13/10/2019 17:25

@SophieSlater2018 how did the nurse appointment go?
@Maybe202020 how’s things?

They’ve cancelled my appointment AGAIN and postponed it to March. I can’t believe they’ve cancelled it twice. My GP did a referral in May and I’m still waiting to be seen!
As soon as I got the letter I phoned them up and was waiting on the phone 1 hour before it got cut off! And couldn’t get through all afternoon. I’m so mad, I really can’t wait that long. I already feel like I’m going crazy. There must be a way to bring it forward. Does anyone know if there’s anyone I can complain to? Also, will one of you let me know of you think I’m being too dramatic? It’s really getting to me 😭 do I have the right to be upset or should I try to calm down a bit

SophieSlater2018 · 13/10/2019 17:29

The nurse appointment went well, all consent forms are signed just have to wait until next period. Cant help but feel a little down though. I don't feel excited and this feels like its gunna be the longest wait yet out of them all. You not over reacting at all at the end of the day this is what is stopping you from having a baby they seem like there having you on a little I would defo call and complain.

@SophieSlater2018 yes 😆 i have to keep making a new account as for some reason I can’t log in 🤷🏻‍♀️.
I have my group session tomorrow, and nurse clinic the end of this morning, does anyone know if I’ll start on my next period? My next one now is the 11th November. I can’t wait to get going. Glad things are going ok for you girls, Sophie when are you starting? How was the nurse appointment?

Sorry to hear that @babydust235 😔 I know exactly how you feel I got my appointment cancelled 3 times and I cried for days because I just felt I wasn’t moving any forward but I odviously have and you will too. You’ve got this and your stronger than you think xx

Millie202020 · 13/10/2019 18:55

end of this month

SophieSlater2018 · 13/10/2019 18:59

Yes my period is due the 3rd of November if it comes as expected but who knows. If your nurse appointment is the end of the month you should be starting on the 11th. So we will be going through it at the same time !!!

SophieSlater2018 · 13/10/2019 19:00

@Millie202020

Millie202020 · 13/10/2019 19:04

Ahhh!! 😬😁 I’m so excited tbh @SophieSlater2018 that would be great to have someone to go through it with. I’ve been worried I won’t be guaranteed November and won’t be able to start till jan because of the closing over Christmas time x

Millie202020 · 13/10/2019 19:05

Forgot to add what was the group session like? X

SophieSlater2018 · 13/10/2019 19:26

Group session : abit boring it's about 2hrs long and theres alot of information, the men definitely don't really like it. One man by me fell asleep.
Nurse appointment : signed all the consent forms, had bloods taken, the nurses are ever so lovely up there xx

SophieSlater2018 · 13/10/2019 19:27

@Millie202020 also as long as egg retrieval is before they close you will be ok.

babydust235 · 27/10/2019 18:19

hi how’s everyone getting on?
sorry I’ve not been on, I’ve been busy with work —and been sulking a little bit—
Thank you @Millie202020 if that’s still your name😂 I did have a good cry about it and trying to stay strong. And thanks @SophieSlater2018 for all your support too. Fingers crossed af comes on time and you both get started before Christmas! Xx

Georgia2699 · 19/12/2019 17:26

Hi girls sorry to jump on the post, me and my partner have our first appointment on the 2/1/20 at the woman’s hospital. We have been waiting for this appointment since October, the closer it gets the more nervous I’m getting ;to the point I literally feel sick thinking about it. What’s to be expected going the first time ? I’m trying to stay strong especially for my partners sake, as he still feels so guilty as he labels himself with the issue 😭xx

Millie202023 · 19/12/2019 19:41

@Georgia2699 have you had all your fertility investigations done? Bloods, sperm test, hsg?.
The consultations with the doctors are nothing to be worried about the staff are really nice there, do you know who you are seeing? X

Georgia2699 · 20/12/2019 08:20

@Millie202023 thanks for the response, both of us have had our tests come back, my partners sperm test came back that there was 0% live sperm yet his hormone blood test came back normal, my blood test also came back normal but The ultrasound scan showed signs of me having pcos ,
that’s so good to hear puts my mind a test a little.. it doesn’t say who on the letter but to report to “ Gynaecology outpatients ground floor” x

helen19844 · 26/12/2019 18:31

Hiya,
I’ve got the first appointment at bham women’s on the 16th Jan. Does anyone know the maximum BMI that you can be. Just want to check mine is within the ok range! Anyone know of any same sex couples that have had nhs funding? Our doc thinks they do it but just wondering how they would facilitate the sperm donor etc.
Hope you’ve all had a lovely Christmas!
Helen

Littlebb2020 · 27/12/2019 12:12

@helen19844 maximum bmi is 30 x

babykatie · 31/01/2020 00:22

Hi ladies,
I had my 1st appointment at BWH on 9th Jan. Also had to wait 3 months for my appointment. Then I have received another letter for appt in March only to find out (after arriving at hospital) that they cancelled my Jan appointment without telling me!! Thank god, the nurse there managed to squeeze us in. Consultant was ready to send us for IVF straight away but then decided to request more blood tests and pelvic scan. Anybody knows how long to get a letter for scan? Our next appointment ( which was 1st available one) was end of May!! This long waiting is crazy!! Fingers crossed for the rest of you.

SophieSlater2018 · 31/01/2020 08:44

@babykatie hi it was 6 months for me in between appointments. The scan appointment come through really quickly I waited like a week. So once everything was done because it was so long away I kept calling up for cancellations. I luckily managed to get squeezed in the week after. It really shortened the process. Good luck xx

babykatie · 31/01/2020 19:03

@SophieSlater2018 - oh really? I have been waiting over 3 weeks now for letter for my scan. I am now wondering if they forgot about it. Once I can get that sorted I will try to call in case they have a cancellation. My age is really against me so need any help I can get. Any ideas when is best to call? 1st thing in the morning or it doesn't matter?
Have you already started your treatment? Hope it goes well. x

SophieSlater2018 · 31/01/2020 19:27

May be worth giving them a call to check if it's been requested. It doesnt matter what time you call x
Yeah I've already had treatment. I had a fresh which unfortunately got cancelled due to over stimulation I'm about to go through a frozen embryo transfer xx

Hi, SophieSlater2018.

sorry to jump on this thread so late. How are you getting on?
I am 28years old female with genetic condition. So after one MTOP as baby had the genetic fault. Me and my husband decided to go for IVF PGD. We were referred March 2024, received appointment June 2024. Then it was funding issues and everyone saying different things and staff leaving. June 2024 I got told within 6 months everything will be done. Come October 2024, had another appointment to say your funding has been approved. They also denied their 6 months statement. Then tests were requested and I was given a time frame that in February 2025 I’ll start injections. Now Jan 2025, they have only managed to book me in for 6/3/25 to discuss results. I feel like giving women of all ages a false time frame is sooo wrong. It has stressed me out beyond words.
can I ask how long after the test review did you start your injections? Xx
