Birmingham Women’s Hospital waiting list?

KirstoStevo · 11/03/2019 17:28

We have just received confirmation that we are eligible for one free treatment on the NHS at Birmingham Women’s hospital. Does anyone know what there waiting list time is at the moment, or how do I find out?
It’s already been 2 1/2 years of waiting so if it’s long we really can’t afford to wait due to our ages!
Any help would be appreciated. 😀

@Maybe2020 I was talking to a lady the other day and she got a letter accepting the funding after 8 weeks, she's under bham women's X

SophieSlater2018 · 21/08/2019 21:16

@Maybe2020 I recieved my letter today for the group session!! You heard anything yet? Xx

Maybe2020 · 21/08/2019 22:04

Sophieslater no not yet! How long did yours take to come? It’s been about 6 weeks since seeing the consultant x

SophieSlater2018 · 22/08/2019 06:30

@Maybe2020 It's only taken 3 weeks for it to come through x

babydust235 · 22/08/2019 07:34

@SophieSlater2018 that's great news! How far away is your group sesh? Hope it's not too long of a wait! X
@Maybe2020 It might be worth phoning them and chasing it up. I've heard some women say the hosp accidentally applied to the wrong ccg so didn't get their funding and had to do it again X

Maybe2020 · 22/08/2019 07:45

Do you know the number I am meant to phone? Or should I just call the outpatients number do you think? X

Maybe2020 · 22/08/2019 07:46

Plus I’m not living in the Birmingham area so might just be taking longer because but Thankyou for the heads up going to give them a call today x

SophieSlater2018 · 22/08/2019 08:10

@babydust235 26th September the session is. Yeah apparently it can take abit longer if you arnt under Birmingham ccg.
@Maybe2020 call up gyne outpatients they will give you the number to call! Let us know xx

Maybe2020 · 22/08/2019 09:18

Is it just me that thinks this hospital is a fucking nightmare to get through to on the phone to talk to anybody?
Literally been passed around one department to the next and the actual person I need to speak to isn’t answering.

Maybe2020 · 22/08/2019 10:05

Finally got through and been told that letter is just waiting on the secretary to sign off as they have a bit of a back log.
Also told time scale wise our group session should be around 14th October, so worked out my next period is 9th November.
I do know they shut through December does anyone know the cut off dates at all or when they shut through December?

babydust235 · 22/08/2019 12:34

@Maybe2020 I'm glad you got through in the end. I didn't know they closed for December, worried I won't be starting this year then 🙁

Did any of you girls have an ultrasound scan before the appointment or do you get an appointment for one then? If so how long is the wait for the scan?

Had all my bloods done already and partners had his SA, they were attached to referral.

Just trying to get organised X

Maybe2020 · 22/08/2019 12:40

@babydust235 yes I’m worried about that too! But hopefully mine will run into just the start of December, think they just just close over the two weeks of Christmas I’m guessing, I will ask though and post back to you if I find out.

I’m not sure but through all this year I’ve had one internal and abdominal scan all hormone bloods done, hsg (dye test) and my husband has had his bloods, karyotype bloods, 3 sa samples. Then we have now been referred. Did you have an internal done through your gp?

Maybe2020 · 22/08/2019 12:42

And @babydust235 I know it’s so frustrating waiting but I was in your position in March this year and felt exactly the same, we actually thought that we’d start the ivf next year and that’s what we planned for but our consultant brought it forward after all tests were done so hopefully yours will too and if not it will probably be early next year x

babydust235 · 24/08/2019 09:36

@Maybe2020 My GP sent the referral and attached day 2 bloods, day 21 bloods, rubella status, chlamydia swabs, hiv status and bmi for me as well as hubby's SA results, heb b, heb c and hiv bloods. Haven't had any ultrasounds yet- will they arrange that at gynaecology outpatients?
Hubby went private for his SA tests and his consultant said IVF/ICSI is our only option. All my tests have come back fine so far. I thought since we know what's wrong and how we want to move forward, it would speed things up a bit...I was speaking to one lady who went to her first appointment there, went to the presentation evening 2 weeks later, consent signing 2 weeks after that then started on her next period! I thought they moved quite quick but I guess it's different for everyone. I really thought we would get our BFP by the end of the year (we've had a really crappy year so far) it gave me something to hold on to. Thanks for your advice, I suppose these things take time. You would have thought we would have learnt how to be patient by now lol

Maybe2020 · 24/08/2019 13:21

It’s diffrrent for everyone @babydust235 please don’t fret now you have been referred it really doesn’t take long to get to the actual treatment.
I thought we would be waiting till next year to start so it’s been quicker than I thought. You will probably have a hsg. The hsg was my last test then they referred us. Keep me updated how you are getting on I know how shit it is. I’ve frlt like going mad this past year but somehow managed to cope and now just taking it day by day x

SophieSlater2018 · 15/09/2019 11:03

@Maybe2020 & @babydust235 any updates? X

babydust235 · 15/09/2019 11:45

@sophieslater2018 I received a letter saying unfortunately theyve had to cancel my appointment and rebooked it for December 😭 I’ve been phoning for cancellations but none yet. It takes so long to get through to them as well. I’ve been trying to keep myself busy (and from going crazy) how are you getting on? X

SophieSlater2018 · 15/09/2019 11:48

O god. Yeah keep ringing they did that to me. Funny enough it was for exactly the same month but last year. I kept ringing and managed to get an appointment for the week after as someone cancelled.
And yeah my group session is the 26th for the ivf. I hate waiting though.x

SophieSlater2018 · 15/09/2019 11:48

@babydust235

Maybe20203 · 17/09/2019 14:01

Hi ladies my username was previously maybe2020 but had to make a new account. I have had our funding letter today for the group session on the 26th September but I have had to ring and cancel as I’m on a way. So our group session is now on the 14th October anyone else? I can’t actually believe we are going to be having a chance at getting pregnant I feel like we have been waiting so long. Can anybody tell me what actually happens with treatment starting? Do I ring the day my period starts and then go in for a scan on day 3? But worried reading I might need an internal scan while I’m on my period as the last thing I want is anything prodding me up there during it lol. Anyone else going to be starting around November time? Where are all you other ladies at has your funding come through? If anyone is waiting for an appointment by me cancelling our place on the 26 th it might open up that spot for someone else hopeful,y x

Maybe20203 · 17/09/2019 14:04

@SophieSlater2018 that’s but of a shame that I can’t go the 26th would of been nice to have gone through it at the same time and have someone from here to talk to x

SophieSlater2018 · 17/09/2019 14:12

Aww that's a shame would of been nice to meet you and share the journey together. It's sometimes hard finding people that understand. I will let you know how the group session goes in preparation for yours.!! Xx

SophieSlater2018 · 17/09/2019 14:12

@Maybe20203

babydust235 · 18/09/2019 17:04

hey everyone,

sorry I’ve not been on much, I’ve been a bit depressed about the whole thing recently, but I’m trying to pick myself back up and stay positive. How often would you call and check for cancellations? I feel like I don’t wanna keep bugging them everyday because they’ll get annoyed with me but I’m so upset my appt has been moved until December!

Did anyone find out when the close during December?

I’ve got confused with @ names and who’s replying to who so this is to whoever wants to read it lol

Not long until the group session for some of you then. Let me know how it goes!!

SophieSlater2018 · 18/09/2019 21:40

Hi @babydust235

Honestly you wouldnt be annoying them they probably have phone calls every day.
Try not to let it bring you down your a day closer every day it will soon come round. Because your outpatients and not second floor they dont really close over Christmas it's more for ivf appointments with timings.
You need distractions !!!! And a miracle that someone cancels which it will happen. Xx
