I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

@squirrelnutkins1
@2fingers22018
Hope you're both ok too ❤️

veeboo · 23/04/2019 09:11

@VenusStarr hope you're okay and you and your partner are taking it easy.

Hope everyones doing okay. Having a slightly frustrating time again this month. I got my positive opk Sunday morning. We DtD Friday and Sunday. Yesterday DP was too tired and this morning he couldn't finish. This is pretty much what happens every month will try again later but think ovulation was yesterday so we've probably missed it again now.

Kelly199 · 23/04/2019 09:45

@veeboo sorry to hear this. It is so frustrating for you!! Try not to stress (easier said than done!!) as the sperm lives for 3-5 days (I think that's the number of days), so from you dtd the times you did, there should be sperm there ready to fertilise the egg. Sending hugs and fingers crossed you'll have good news xx

veeboo · 23/04/2019 10:03

Thanks @Kelly199. Yes the specialist told DP that his sperm will live 2 days. I think that's just a conservative estimate she gave. it's just so frustrating as it's not worked for us so far and I'm convinced it's because we're just not doing it enough.

VenusStarr · 23/04/2019 10:14

Thank you. He seems a bit like his normal self, Sunday was pretty horrible. Feeling a bit more motivated and at work today. Have become a bit obsessed thinking about bring pregnant again, it's just crept up on me. But have been googling lots about how you can be more fertile after a miscarriage etc. I need distractions! My usual cycles would mean af arriving next Monday but I have no idea how quickly my cycle will settle. Plus it took us so long to get our bfp, I don't think we're going to be the exception.

Sorry to hear your frustrations @veeboo, I'm keeping my fingers crossed you caught the egg. I looked back on ovia last night and think we caught 2 days before ovulation, but I don't temp or use opks, just going by when we dtd and my luteal phase which is 12 days. Ttc is really hard work 😔.

Thank you @Kelly199, hope you're OK.

Hope your first day back goes smoothly @squirrelnutkins1 🤞

Hope you're doing well @2fingers22018 and @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF

Kelly199 · 23/04/2019 10:28

@veeboo so sorry, fingers crossed the times you dtd was enough to catch the egg in time. Sending hugs xx
@VenusStarr so sorry with what you've been through.
I agree with you with needing distractions!! I'm terrible for googling every little thing and looking for past threads etc. !!
Hope you'll have some good news xx
I'm ok thank you xx

2fingers22018 · 23/04/2019 12:56

@veeboo this is exactly whats happenin with us and its beyond frustrating. This is just a recent thing with my OH i think hes just getting really stressed out with it all, but i do sometimes feel like saying cmon we need to do this i know its soo unsympathetic but i just want to get pregnant soo much. I do feel sorry for guys its a lot of pressure..

VenusStarr · 23/04/2019 15:15

Ugh, just had a baby bomb at work 💣 luckily in an email so I was able to send a lighthearted reply back. Feels like a kick in the guts though 😔

squirrelnutkins1 · 23/04/2019 15:54

@VenusStarr hugs 😔 that's really hard xxx

CloudSway · 23/04/2019 16:29

Hi all, I've tried my best to catch up on everything I've missed but had to miss a few pages so genuine apologies if I say anything insensitive to anyone!

Hi to the newer people, @VenusStarr sorry about the b bomb, it sucks and completely understand the kick in the guts, great description!

@squirrelnutkins1 I know it's late, but I'm so sorry for your loss xx

@2fingers22018 How's things?

Sorry it's been so long, found myself getting a bit caught up and obsessed with all things fertility (not in a good way!). Used to get obsessed and jealous about everyone's amazing lives/houses etc so quit fb, this was the fertility version of that!! Feeling better now though, less overwhelmed and more curious and interested in everyones experiences. Thanks for everything you're all sharing, wishing everyone well.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the rare sight of sunshine!

@VenusStarr sending hugs. So shit ❤️

Just had my cd24 tv scan (although due to bh, it's actually my cd27 today). They said I've ovulated and released egg from right ovary.
Trying to stay positive, but don't think we've been lucky this month as I've had no symptoms other than mild cramping in right ovary couple of days after ovulation until about 2 days ago. Having said that though, I don't really know when they're supposed to start.
My lining was 10mm. Does anyone know if that's good or bad?

Kelly199 · 23/04/2019 16:36

@CloudSway your post didn't come up until I posted!
Welcome back! Hope you're ok and enjoyed bank hols!
I know what you mean with the obsession! It's hard sometimes and I feel like I need to take a break from it! Xx

CloudSway · 23/04/2019 16:49

@Kelly199 Don't worry, I'm always a few messages behind on this site I think, it isn't ideal lol.

I'm not bad thanks, only got 2 days off from work but still enjoyed it, managed to burn myself from being outside for about 8 seconds, stupid pastey skin!

Also I'm not the person to talk to about the blood tests I feel... I thought I'd had all the right ones, went to a Q&A at a clinic and turns out when I thought I had my AMH, I hadn't Blush so now I second guess everything I think I understand!

veeboo · 23/04/2019 16:51

Welcome back @CloudSway. Totally know what you mean. Its so hard...a whole new world of stress!

@VenusStarr sorry about the baby bomb. It's so tough.

I had to have another difficult conversation with a friend yesterday who said I'm probably not pregnant just to stress. I managednot to shouy but I was very quick to say, "I know you mean well but it isn't stress"!

Kelly199 · 23/04/2019 17:07

@CloudSway glad you enjoyed the time you had off.
Oh tell me about it!! I'm really sunburnt. Having dp apply after sun am and pm and I'm in agony with it. It'll teach me to be careful in the sun!
Oh no!! It is all such a lot to take in though, so don't worry about not knowing things. I'm the same, that's why I like this where I can pick others brains lol xx
@veeboo so annoying when people make stupid comments! Sending hugs xx

VenusStarr · 23/04/2019 17:18

@Kelly199 I don't know if this is helpful or not but at my last scan that confined my miscarriage my lining was 10mm on one side and 11mm on the other (possible bicornuate uterus). So I'm thinking good for you. Did you dtd around the right time do you think?

Thank you @CloudSway felt appropriate! I fear I'm becoming slightly obsessed with all things fertility 😔 need to focus on anything but, it's very hard though.

Thanks @veeboo, sorry about your conversation with your friend 🙄 I had 'I'm glad you conceived naturally', after my miscarriage and knowing we're seeing the fertility clinic soon. People can be insensitive knobs sometimes. Hope you're OK.

Thanks @squirrelnutkins1. How was today? Hope you got on OK.

Kelly199 · 23/04/2019 17:37

@VenusStarr thank you!! Yes (well, I think so). We dtd every other day starting day after clomid pill just in case and then day of what I think was ovulation too as I'd had a +opk the day before.
I was feeling quite positive, but I just don't 'feel' pregnant. Don't know why I have that mindset though because I don't know what it's like anyway!! Only time will tell I suppose! Xx

VenusStarr · 23/04/2019 17:46

Honestly I didn't feel pregnant when I was. The first I knew was my positive test and I only did it because my period hadn't started by lunchtime as it usually does so I did a test to satisfy myself that it would arrive. Was completely shocked when it was positive. I didn't start getting symptoms until about 4.5 weeks and even then it was bloating and a bit of heartburn. My boobs only started hurting later ariubf week 5. Got my fingers tightly crossed for you xx 🤞

VenusStarr · 23/04/2019 17:46

Meant to tag you @Kelly199 x

Kelly199 · 23/04/2019 17:53

@VenusStarr thank you for the positivity!! It's nice to know as at least I can feel a bit brighter whilst I wait and if af shows then I guess another cycle of clomid.
Thank you. Wish you the best of luck too 🤞🏼xxx

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 23/04/2019 18:05

@venusStar sorry you didn’t have a great weekend or must be a really tough time for you both right now! Hugs to you!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 23/04/2019 18:20

Thanks @kelly199 they called today but the others didn’t make it but i am happy that I have 5! Good news you ovulated when are you expecting af? I think 10mm is good the last measurements they did on mine was 13mm and that’s with all the drugs so I’d say yours is fine! Did you not ask?

@veeboo sorry you are having a bad time does DH know when it’s peak time? It sounds like you managed to dtd at the right times though so fingers crossed for you!

@cloudsway good to you have you back! I think we all get obsessed at times I know o have been over the last few days!!

@kelly199 I think everyone different some have symptoms some don’t jist because you don’t feel/have any doesn’t mean you aren’t so keep positive you never know

@venusStarr sorry about the baby bomb big hugs

Sorry tired to reply to every one so if I’ve missed you hope your ok!

Af is a killer this time!! I’m normally heavy but this is worse only to be expected I guess hoping it’s not to much longer then normal as I’ve read it can be!

2fingers22018 · 23/04/2019 18:23

Welcome back@CloudsSway i do the exact same thing i take break every now and again before i go insane lol @Kelly199 im not sure if thats gd hun sorry im soo dense with some of this fertility stuff x

Kelly199 · 23/04/2019 18:28

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF sorry they didn't make it, but like you say, at least you have 5 good ones!
Depending on my cycle length, could be from Thursday to next Thursday? Hard to predict!
I did ask, but she said she doesn't know if it's good or bad. She said she only knows what she needs to look for in the scan and that's it. It is annoying because I'd like to have known.
Reassuring that yours was 13mm though so I suppose mine can't be bad as not far off.
Thank you. I'm going to try to remain positive until the show/no show of af!! 🤞🏼
Hope your pains will settle down!
Will will you be having transfer now? The next cycle? Xx

Kelly199 · 23/04/2019 18:28

@2fingers22018 haha don't worry, it's hard to know what's what sometimes! I'm learning as I'm going along lol xx
