Hi all.
I just wanted to start a new thread for people who are starting ivf/icsi in march or april 2019.

We have had our dates through for our consultant appointment on 4th March to go through all the paperwork sent to us. And then our nurse appointment is 29th March. So hoping to start icsi on my april cycle.

This is our first attempt and really anxious. I have read a bit online but didn't want to get overwhelmed so am trying to just follow the consultants lead.
hoping we can all help each other out on our journeys. 😁 😘

@LillyLeaf thank you for explaining and I'm glad there was nothing concerning found.

Is anybody else adding any extras to their ivf? I've decided to pay for they embryo glue as an extra just wondered if anyone else was adding this or has in the past?

Ruthyroo81 · 03/03/2019 21:16

@LillyLeaf wow 7 vials of blood that must be done test. Fingers crossed for positive results for you and I really hope it doesn't delay your transfer 🤞🤞🤞

@DaisyMay25 yes we are also adding the glue our consultant explained it a little and I jumped at it. We're self funding privately and it's £125 so I just though why the hell not! To be honest some days they could tell me we'd need 100k to get our little miracle and I'd do it!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 04/03/2019 13:27

How we all doing?

We’ve signed our consent forms today. Watched the quite informative yet scary videos about everything that happens and then could go wrong! I know risks are small it’s just overwhelming when all launched at once haha!

Got our nurses appointment for needles lessons on 11th. Should be starting down reg on 10th April. Long protocol.

Hope everyone else is doing ok

DaisyMay25 · 04/03/2019 13:43

So my friend just told me she's 10 weeks pregnant, after starting to try in August. I was happy for her, for five minutes now I'm just sad.

@Whatelsecouldibecalled I think you're a couple of days ahead of me! Fingers crossed for you!

White13 · 04/03/2019 16:34

Hey we have just had our bloods, urine and consultant meeting. Hoping to start mid April aslong as this month's cylce turns up on time.

I just wanted to know. The consultant said I need a high protein low carb diet. And gave us some vitamins to take. Has anyone else been told to alter their diet. The pills vitamins I've been taking anyway so that's not new, news.

Hi @white13 I was told to increase protein intake also when I had my fresh cycle back in December, I think it is meant to help with the growing eggs. I also drank a pint of milk a day for good lining.

Hope everyone is doing ok - I should be getting my dates for my rescheduled FET later this week.

WorriedButterfly · 04/03/2019 19:15

I started norethisterone today, I can't believe it has finally started, after a year of waiting. Has anyone else started? My BL scan is planned for 19th! Eeek. I am having my first acupuncture session tomorrow- has anyone had any good/bad experiences with acupuncture- does it actually relieve stress? x

Twiglet2353 · 04/03/2019 19:27

@WorriedButterfly I finished my norethisterone on saturday and now just waiting for AF to arrive so I can start my stims :-).
I was on it for 7 days in the end, how long are you expected to take it for?

Not tried acupuncture but I am open minded about it, just not found a fertility specialist nearby

arose08 · 05/03/2019 09:19

@WorriedButterfly I've decided to do acupuncture along side this cycle (this is my second cycle, FET this time) and I honestly couldn't recommend it more!! I feel soooo relaxed and chilled out after each session, it's amazing, I can't understand how it can do that! I was really really ratty yesterday (think it's the Norethisterone in full force, last day taking it tomorrow) and after my session, it was like I didn't have a care in the world! Hope you find it as good as I do, let me know how you get on today x

LillyLeaf · 08/03/2019 09:23

I did acupuncture in my first cycle, very relaxing but find a fertility specialist that understands IVF. I'll be doing it again for this FET.

WorriedButterfly · 13/03/2019 22:18

How are you getting on @Twiglet2353 ? I'm
Awaiting AF now before BL next Tuesday. @LillyLeaf & @arose08 acupuncture has been good so far, the lady I am seeing specialises in IVF, so it is also nice to have a mother person to talk to. I hope everyone is getting on well! X

Twiglet2353 · 14/03/2019 07:09

Hi @WorriedButterfly. I had my first stims scan yesterday (day 8) and I had 22 follicles, 13 of which are over 10mm, and my lining was 10mm also.
They've halved my Bemfola dose so I hopefully won't produce anymore but just mature the follies that are there now.
Another scan tomorrow and EC planned for Monday 🤞

How are you?

WorriedButterfly · 16/03/2019 10:56

@Twiglet2353 I hope your scan went well yesterday, sounds like you're doing well. I am awaiting AF and can then get started! x

Twiglet2353 · 16/03/2019 11:40

Thanks @WorriedButterfly. Scan went well. All set for egg retrieval on Monday, trigger tonight just after 8pm 🙈. Just been and stocked up on paracetemol and ibuprofen, and smart water for the electrolytes

akmaan · 18/03/2019 17:29

@twiglet2353

how did your EC go?!
got baseline scan on Thursday! looking forward to nurse planning and receiving our protocol soon...

Twiglet2353 · 18/03/2019 17:44

@akmaan Got 16 eggs! Will hear from embryologist on Wednesday as to how many have fertilised. Now on oestrogen patches as well as progesterone pessaries to try and boost my lining (reduced to 7.1mm today). Fingers crossed!x

WorriedButterfly · 19/03/2019 15:16

Fab news @Twiglet2353! Fingers crossed for Wednesday! I had my baseline scan earlier today, starting Suprecur tonight. @akmaan not long for you, I feel excited and nervous all in one, I imagine the stims May take the edge off! Are you both on a first cycle? Keeping everything crossed for you both. Smile

phreedam · 19/03/2019 17:22

@Twiglet2353 awesome awesome! Bet you can't wait till tomorrow now!! Loads of prayers for you sweets!

@WorriedButterfly yes it's my first cycle so excited more than nervous and I plan to keep it that way 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Star(try to) all the best with yours- is it your first? How are you finding the injections, I'm only worried I won't do them right eek otherwise I can get over the needles..(so she says ...)

WorriedButterfly · 19/03/2019 19:55

@phreedam just done my first one, it was fine, bit stingy but it's done! Yes my first round too, exciting times! Smile

DaisyMay25 · 19/03/2019 20:27

I haven't written in here in a little while, I'm a week into Buserelin. It was getting a bit painful for me so I've decided to ice before tonight which seemed to help. Back in the 28th to hopefully start stims! For round for me (ICSI)

2019isouryear · 19/03/2019 20:41

We had our final consent and screening today so on countdown to start next month. Going to have to be patient over the next 3 weeks waiting for AF. My first cycle so both excited and nervous.

Twiglet2353 · 20/03/2019 08:34

Update from the embryologist this morning;

  • 16 eggs collected
  • 16 mature
  • 15 embryos
  • 4 currently at Grade 3 and above

Transfer planned for Saturday 😬🤞

phreedam · 20/03/2019 10:35

@twiglet2353
I've not even started my cycle yet but form what I've read/researched that is an amazing result! 15 out of 16 of yours were mature! Try and stay sane the next couple of days while they give you embryos updates (how exciting!!!) well done hun, hope you're having a smooth recovery form EC xx Smile

Twiglet2353 · 20/03/2019 10:48

Thanks @phreedam, just hope as many as possible pull through to Saturday so we can get some frosities ❄️🤞

Recovery from EC has been fine so far. just having occasional paracetemol. Hoping no signs of Ohss start prior to transfer

Good luck with your upcoming cycle xx

WorriedButterfly · 22/03/2019 18:47

How's it all going @Twiglet2353? Are things still progressing well? Good luck for tomorrow!

I am on day 4 of stims and feeling quite nauseous from it. My scan next Wednesday feels so far away! How are you getting on @phreedam have you started?
