Starting a new thread for all of us going through IVF/ICSI in January/February!

First round of ICSI for us. I’m on the last week of my birth control pill before starting Gonal F injections on the 18th Jan, with the hope of egg collection on the 30th and transfer on the 4th Feb! I’m egg sharing so have been on the pill a while to sync my cycle with the woman recovering half of my eggs .

Is anyone else at a simile stage?

Egg collection day!! Sat in the hospital now just waiting. EC should be in about an hour. Eeek!!!!

@PhoenixBird82 welcome and good luck for your upcoming EC. It does sound very frustrating to have follicles that cannot be reached but hopefully the ones they can access are the ones holding the best eggs!

@Lionesscub yes I think they absolutely should have done blood tests. Mine told me on Friday that the scans tell them only so much but the final decision is always determined by the blood test. They tested my oestrogen and progesterone before telling me to take trigger and said this result could change our plan. I guess one thing about going private is at least they should be more thorough on this regard.

@bunnieboo91 good luck for your transfer today. I haven't had mine yet so no personal advice but I've heard most people say the transfer is much easier than the EC because no anaesthetic so you don't need time off. If however you can take a few days to chill, why not?

@FingersXssd83 I'm so sorry it didn't work. I think asking for tests is a very good idea. From your list thyroid, hycosy and hormones were mandatory tests that had to be done before my clinic would start IVF. So they are clearly important. Good luck. Hope you manage to take some time and get back into a good headspace.

I'm just popping in to update and then will probably be off thread for a while.

I had EC this morning and I'm absolutely gutted. Of the 7 follicles there was only one egg. I'm really heartbroken. I know there is still a chance but I have lost hope now and full expect them to say no tomorrow.

So I had all six eggs fertilised which we were over the moon about and I arrived there this morning for ET and they said we only had three that became blastocysts and didn't seem bothered about that we lost three. You have plenty of embryos but want to give you a heads up just encase. it was very emotional for us today because you want it so badly!

@CornishMaid1 - I'm soo sorry to hear this! I had my scan earlier and have 10 follicles at the moment. They've said not to get disheartened as all that matters is they get at least one egg so there is still hope, I hope you are okay 😘😘 thinking of you x

Just leaving the hospital now. I got 16 eggs so am very happy. I had three more follicles grow since my last scan on Friday so things really can happen in the last few days. Now it's nervously waiting for tomorrow.

@bunnieboo91 thank you! I had 4 at blastocyst stage this morning so had 1 grade 1 implanted this afternoon which they were really pleased with so have 3 to freeze.
I know what you mean about it been emotional I've been a bit of a mess since they called this morning. Now for the dreaded wait.

boboelephant that’s fantastic! Hope you’re feeling well after EC and get good news this morning.

I had my day 5 atoms scan yesterday - 4 follicles were there (this is good for me); largest is 12. We were scheduled to carry on and go back on Friday for another scan, then got a call just after 5 yesterday to tell me to go in for a scan tomorrow. Eek!! Hoping there’s nothing bad they’ve seen and just having an extra check!

Fingers crossed for everyone today and for good news. 💪

@TheGlitterFairy - it sounds like we are at exactly the same stage! I had day 4 scan yesterday and was suppose to go in on Friday for my next scan but they bought it forward to tomorrow as well, although I had 10 follicles with the largest being 12 the lining of my womb has shrunk not grow so they want to just check I am responding and if they need to adjust dosage adjust it now not wait until Friday so trying to look on the plus side. Woke up this morning finding the entire process a little overwhelming - it's not helped by the steroids I am on and can tell I am gaining weight rapidly! X

I feel like this is Sod’s law. I think I’ve got tonsillitis and I start stimming on Friday 😫I’m going to the doctor today to see if I need antibiotics but if I do I don’t know if they will cancel it all 😞

So I’m back for day 8 scan today, am really hoping something has happened as only had 1 follicle on day 3 scan.

Good luck @boboelephant hope transfer went ok x and all you ladies still stimming you’re all doing amazing with your follicles keep those pesky things growing 🤣🤣 I’m trying to be positive but feeling pretty emotional today.

Have read so much about people pushing forward still and seeing improvement at days 10-15 so who knows 🙄

Thanks @TheGlitterFairy and @intrigued2018! I just got the call and 13 of the 16 have fertilised so very happy.
Try not to worry about the earlier scan. I was called in a day early too and was so worried something was wrong but they were just being thorough sneaking sure everything was going as well as it could. Good luck to you both.

So not good news. 1 dominant follicle at 12mm and two at 5 and 5.1 they suggested we abandoned cycle but have agreed to go till Friday now. If the two small ones reach 10mm then We can carry on if not we asked about trigger and then to try naturally which they agreed to. Lining is looking really good she said so it’s a shame to waste a cycle.

@realitysucks I had nothing at 8 days and by 11 days something started to change!

@Ginandtonic31 thanks, why do you think they are being so keen to abandon cycle. They didn’t offer any alternative. I asked about iui as I know I have one good egg and they dismissed it then I asked about trigger and trying naturally as I don’t want to waste a cycle andntehy were like well you could. Now they are saying they will check my FSh despite me asking from the beginning for them to do this and they say with my AMH at 4 they don’t only if you have low AMH of 0.7

I’m it sure. They decided to up my dose and keep going and come back two days later. For me it was probably because if they do that wasnone of my Free rounds gone.

I've had the call and our one egg didn't fertilise so our cycle has failed completely.

@Ginandtonic31 I have from the beginning been on 450iu so the highest dose and they can’t up it. I just don’t know what to do. We have paid for multicycle so if we abandon then I still have two rounds of egg collection to try and we just lose the 2k we have spent on drugs. Do we carry on and risk a bad collection of just a couple of eggs or wait for another cycle with a better response. Given that they can’t up my drugs I could just have the same response each time. However they say they will check fsh as if high then the drugs won’t make any difference and then they wait for a cycle where it’s a bit lower. They just don’t seem to have any proper answers.

@CornishMaid1 - so sorry for you, sending massive hugs  I hope you are relaxing and giving yourself time to take everything in. 

@Realitysucks - also so sorry to hear about this, don't be too downbeat yet see what happens the next couple of days. What treatment are you on? Have they mentioned upping your dosages? I was told previously that follicles can grow upto 2mm per day so don't rule anything out. I know it's hard not to panic, just try to stay calm 😘

@Boboelephant - great news 13 eggs have fertilised! Fingers crossed for your update tomorrow. Have they said how many days after EC they will do ET? Fingers and toes crossed that all goes well for you xxx

@Realitysucks - just seen your response, our messages crossed. Shame they can't up your dose any further. Do you always deal with the same nurse? Could you ask to speak with someone else at the clinic? What other meds are you on? Worth getting the clinic to explore why they think this is your response? Xxx

@RealitySucks just keep plugging away a bit longer. They can change the drugs for next cycle I think. What are you on now?

@CornishMaid1 I’m so sorry. I only got 4 eggs and only one made it and that one had the affected to gene so I sort of get how dissapointong it is. Cry it out and then work out a plan of action!

I’ve been to the GP and they think my throat is viral but I need to keep an eye on any spots appearing. So no antibiotics which is good! So now just trying to fight off a cold with thousands of fruit and oranges and hope it has gone before Friday! I still have no sign of a period and a bit fat at the minute so already feeling like a doomed cycle.

@intrigued2018 I haven’t seen the same person twice! Was dealing with a consultant for first initial appointment and she did my pre cycle scratch then saw a bloke for day cycle day 2 scan then a nurse for treatment day 3 scan and then a different lady consultant today for treatment day 7 scan. I’m on 450iu of Meriofert, I started on 450iu of Bemfola for 4 days then changed on Saturday night to Meriofert and on Sunday they added 0.25 cetrotide in the mornings. Taking vit D spray and pre contraceptive tablets for folic acid etc. They basically said abandon. But everyone is saying if your a slow responder then your Unlikely to see anything till 10/11 days of stims. I’m only on day 7 with 8th injection tonight so seems pretty early to be calling it a day, hence why we pushed to carry on till Friday. On Friday I will have done 10 days of stims.
