Hi everyone, just had my first down regulation injection this morning with a scan booked for next Thursday. This will be the transfer of my remaining embryo. I had a little boy last year via ICSI so I know I've been very lucky already.

Anyone else starting now?

I’ve been diagnosed with OHSS and discharged to manage it at home. Apparently it might get worse before it gets better which is not a happy thought as I already feel like I might pop! My whole tummy from right under my boobs downwards is massive and really hard, it’s horrible Sad
I guess this whole process, with all the drugs and manipulation, are so tough on our bodies, we have to expect it to show at some point.
I hope everyone else is having a better day.

Cariad82 · 26/11/2018 17:34

@AmyK18 that's good to know. My clinic must be over cautious. I'm really happy with them so wouldn't change clinics based on that but I will definitely challenge it thank you.

@CautiousOptimist sorry to hear you're so poorly! Lots of get well soon wishes going your way

rosea19 · 26/11/2018 21:06

Hi can I join please? I'm 38 and just about to start my short cycle meds for IVF/ICSI. I have secondary infertility due to MFI (husband was put on strong meds for epilepsy after first child and we think that's affected things). I also have PCOS.

I have my day 3 scan tomorrow, nervous and excited!

Beeflower22 · 26/11/2018 21:39

Good with with everyone @rosea19

Has anyone else gained weight? I’m literally 10 pounds heavier and considering my embryo is now in the freezer it’s all I’ve currently gained! 💔

AmyK18 · 27/11/2018 07:24

@rosea19 I have PCOS too curious to see how your cycle will go! Keep us updated and good luck :)

@Beeflower22 yup super bloated try not to weigh yourself until all the side affects have worn off hahah! Xx

@Cautiousoptimisit poor you! At least your back home I guess. Have they given you anything to calm things down? Did they say anything about your hcg levels in your blood test?

evenprimrose · 27/11/2018 11:48

@Guio thanks for the welcome. Yes this is my first. I feel like it will be a trial run.. I have quite a few fertility issues, low AFC, low AMH, and will be doing PGS if we get enough embryos... trying to think positive though.

@Beeflower22 yes feeling quite bloated already only 5 days in. Have massively cut back on exercise which doesn't help.

@cautiousoptimist that sounds horrid, poor you. can you still continue to egg collection or do you have to stop treatment?

evenprimrose · 27/11/2018 11:49

Has anyone else noticed that if you drink loads of water then the following day the headachey side effects are much better? I feel like the hydration has a delayed effect of about a day.

jemimafuddleduck · 27/11/2018 12:43

Hi all!

Can I join please? I've been on buserelin (nasal spray) for a week and have just finished tablets to stop my period (can't remember the name!).

We are doing donor egg ivf on the nhs. I have a scan next week, one the week after and then egg transfer is expected Christmas Eve!

Not feeling too bad at all so far although I do feel a little bloated.

RedPandaFluff · 27/11/2018 14:44

Hi @jemimafuddleduck - I'm donor egg IVF too! I'm currently 3dp5dt. This is my third cycle, and I've never had to use nasal sprays, I just started taking oestrogen on the first day of my period; what is the spray for?

Yeah, bloating is definitely part of the process, but I think we have it pretty easy, drugs-wise, compared to ladies using their own eggs.

On that note, hope you're okay, @CautiousOptimist 😔

Russkispy · 27/11/2018 14:57

Hi everyone, can I join too please.
I'm 42 and just started my first IVF/ICSI. , I'm on Gonal F for 5 days now, started on cd5. went for my first scan yesterday, 7 follicles in total and all 9mm. My doctor told me to increase the dosage by 25. So now is 275. Next scan tomorrow and last on Friday and I'm flying home on Saturday with a potential trigger on Sunday and egg collection on Tuesday. Hoping and praying all follies will have an egg and there'll be embryos to freeze (Doing IVF abroad, in my clinic where I had my first IUI and my beautiful DD is almost 18 months)
I was a bit disappointed with my number but my doctor reassured it was fine. As it's not about the quantity but quality of the egg! Well, let's just hope all supplements including DHEA, I've been taking for months, do their magic! I also have regular acupuncture and reflexology.

jemimafuddleduck · 27/11/2018 15:11

Hi @RedPandaFluff - good luck to you!! How long do you have to wait to test? Have you ever had a successful cycle? Are you private or nhs?

This is my first cycle, NHS. I'm only entitled to one so am praying that it works. I'll be doing acupuncture next week, a week before ET then before and after ET.

We are definitely better off than ladies using their own eggs! I have no idea what the buserelin is for - I think to build up my lining?!

CautiousOptimist · 27/11/2018 15:29

Thank you for the supportive messages everyone. I haven’t been given any medication to calm it down - other than anti-sickness stuff or a drip of fluids or draining the fluid from the stomach in severe cases I think all you can do is wait. I’ve been told to drink plenty of water and keep moving. I’m just hoping it doesn’t get worse.

@AmyK18 They didn’t mention Hcg levels in my blood tests but I did wonder the same thing, as I’ve read about OHSS being exacerbated by pregnancy hormones. It would be SO worth it if that was the reason, I’ve got everything crossed! Testing on Friday.

@evenprimrose I’ve actually had my transfer, 10 days ago now. Oddly the condition didn’t flare up until a week after that.

Good luck everyone.

Wesstywoo · 27/11/2018 17:10

Welcome new people!!

Sorry to hear about OHSS @CautiousOptimist I hope you start feeling better soon xx

I've now done a week of maximum dose menopur, got my scan tomorrow although I've got low AMH and have had no side effects/bloating whatsoever so not getting my hopes up about how I've responded.

Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

TinyPaws · 27/11/2018 17:12

Hello, I'm mostly on the October/November thread but have been reading along here too as my official test date is 7th December. @CautiousOptimist I think you can be cautiously optimistic as I know of no reason why you would suddenly get OHSS 7 days after transfer other than pregnancy.

LillyLeaf · 27/11/2018 22:52

@Wesstywoo I also have a scan tomorrow, I've only done 4 injections of stims (Ovaleap) and also a high dose, I don't feel anything either, I have a some bloating but usually do anyway so I doubt it has anything to do with the meds. I'll know tomorrow if this is a freeze all cycle which after reading up about it I've decided to see it as a positive thing. I can let my body focus on having the best lining next cycle.

Welcome to everyone new, hope you're all coping ok.

AmyK18 · 28/11/2018 04:09

@LillyLeaf good positive mental attitude!! X

jemimafuddleduck · 28/11/2018 07:08

@LillyLeaf Good luck for today! X

Josie789 · 28/11/2018 09:30

Hi all can I join, I had my egg collection monday. This is my second try at icsi, I'm still in some pain but there were lots of eggs (28) so I guess that explains the pain.
Be lovely to be able to talk to be people who understand how difficult the process is

Wesstywoo · 28/11/2018 09:39

Good luck @LillyLeaf

Just back from my scan and as expected the numbers are low - 5 on one side and 1 on the other. The good news was that my lining is good. Carrying on with stims and going back again on Fri but EC is most likely to be on Monday.

Welcome @Josie789 xx

Josie789 · 28/11/2018 09:48

Thanks @wesstywoo.
6 is okay, remeber it only takes one egg to make a baby Smile and u have the weekend so things could changed. Fingers crossed for your EC xx

Wesstywoo · 28/11/2018 10:03

Thanks @Josie789 Smile I needed to hear a positive spin on it, this is such an emotional rollercoaster!!

28 is a great number! Do you know how many fertilised? Hope you feel better with the pain soon xx

Josie789 · 28/11/2018 10:09

Thanks @wesstywoo, I hope so too but I guess I can't be too shocked as there were so many eggs. I hope I do as I had frozen transfer last time and hope to not have to have freeze all again this time. We have 18 embryos but very aware that they might not all develop. I have been trying not to be too optimistic as I don't want to be too upset if if doesn't work. (although I know I will be). Curretnyl just waiting for a call from the embryologist......

AmyK18 · 28/11/2018 10:16

@Westywoo don’t worry you’ve still got nearly a week, mine all jumped up at the last minute so don’t worry there’s plenty of time.

@Josie789 wow that’s loads well done! Yeah how many of those were mature enough to use and fertilised? What happened in your first cycle, did you have a fresh transfer?

Josie789 · 28/11/2018 10:24

Hi @amyK18 the first cycle wasn't great I have pcos and so they gave me a low dose of menapur. It took ages for it to kick in. I had 14 eggs I think 5 fertalised and they froze them all. (I was really uncomfortable and they were worried about ohss) I had one in planted but the others wasn't good enough to re-freeze. In hindsight I wish we had only taken two out but have learnt this is such a massive learning curve!
I am hoping for fresh transfer on Saturday this time xx

Wesstywoo · 28/11/2018 10:27

Got my fingers crossed for you @Josie789

Thank you @AmyK18 - positive thinking!!! xx
