The dreaded 2WW - support and suggestions welcome

Hi guys, I’m 38, with MFI and going through first round of ICSI. I had a single 5day blast transferred yesterday and so my dreaded 2WW begins. I’m trying to distract myself but so far not doing a great job.
I’ve read lots around what you should/shouldn’t be doing this time but I think there are no conclusive instructions.
Common suggestions are to:
-Rest for 24-48 hours
-Gentle exercise
-Eat a balanced diet avoiding processed and high sugar foods (specific foods like pineapple and raspberry tea are nonsense!)
-Avoid sexual intercourse until pregnancy established as this can cause disruptive contractions of the uterus.
-Avoid hot baths, sauna and steam room.

Following these instructions seems like the easy part, the hard bit is trying not to symptom-spot. The scariest part is that any symptom could be just as much a sign of unsuccessful pregnancy as it could be a sign for successful pregnancy!!
For the record, I’ve not experienced any symptoms so far. I was however curious about what the little blast was up to in there and I found this really helpful guide:

www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/articles/ivf-egg-implantation-procedure-what-happens-after-embryo-transfer

I thought others perhaps might find it useful. Would also be great to hear from others going through the same anxious wait.
Wishing everyone the best of luck x

@Viletta I’m only taking folic acid. That’s all I have in the house, and tbh, I have no clue what else I would take... xx

Viletta · 05/07/2018 10:56

@WindsorNewbie your line is really strong! Beta hcg drops quickly if pregnancy is not developing as it should so your strong second line is an indicator that everything is going well! Good to know that you are taking enough progesterone to support it. Red blood during first trimester is not uncommon and although it does look worrying it doesn’t mean that your pregnancy is affected. Look out for symptoms like pain otherwise stay positive. Xxx

Viletta · 05/07/2018 10:59

@Beherenow32 I think I’m just trying to gain control of what is completely out of my control:) I’ve read threads where ladies said that their most depressed and desperate cycle ended up in surprise bfp. Your feeling won’t affect the outcome. I do hope you are successful this time!

Filipinam · 05/07/2018 17:58

Unfortunately my 3rd cycle failed after BFP on my test day... no second line anymore....devastated...

Beherenow32 · 05/07/2018 19:02

@Filipinam oh, that’s heartbreaking ☹️ Xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 05/07/2018 19:41

Flowers for you, you have my sympathy.

Viletta · 05/07/2018 21:20

@Filipinam sorry to hear that:(( it’s so heartbreaking especially after bfp. Hope you have rest and gain energy for the next time.. xxx

Can I join please? We had a 5 day transfer and today I’m one week into the TWW. Clinic will test on Saturday. I was convinced I would want to test today but...I didn’t. I don’t think it’s worked and as long as I don’t test I can keep the hope alive. A Shrodinger's pregnancy if you will. Of course the clinic advised we test before they do to prepare ourselves for the result, and my husband likes to follow rules so...

Viletta · 09/07/2018 13:49

@Catinthecorner welcome! I was thinking exactly the same about Schrodinger pregnancy haha! Wait as long as you can as early testing can be unreliable both ways. I feel like having bfn and then bfp is much better than the other way around. There are a lot of cases in the threads with surprise bfp after being sure it didn’t work. You have good chances it will! Good luck and let us know how you cope with waiting!

Catinthecorner · 09/07/2018 15:56

@Viletta thank you for the welcome. I’m not coping at all, but there’s not much I can do about that

Catinthecorner · 10/07/2018 10:13

And I’m out. Tested this morning and not even a squinter of a line.

Viletta · 10/07/2018 10:32

@Catinthecorner how many dot are you? Sure not testing early?

Viletta · 10/07/2018 10:32

How many dpt**

Catinthecorner · 10/07/2018 10:45

8dp5dt. It’s early but I tested because I couldn’t shake the feeling dread. Used a frer and would expect at least a squinter by now.

I’m weirdly connected to this. I knew before we started trying that I wouldn’t be able to conceive, and I lost all positivity about this cycle over the weekend.

Husband is busy convincing himself it’s a false negative.

Viletta · 10/07/2018 10:58

@Catinthecorner it’s really early to test! You won’t get a reliable result. Calm down and distract yourself till the date when your doctors asked you to test. No matter what you think now it won’t affect final result. Have a vague plan of action for bfn just in case. It’s a waiting game now and it’s totally out of your control. No fun at all. But try finding something that can distract you for at least some time: crafting, googling non pregnancy related stuff, watching a film, going for a walk.. you can have a blood test for a reliable result but I’m afraid not earlier than at least 10dpt.

Itonlytakesone · 10/07/2018 21:35

Hi,
I’m 7dp5dt and on my 2ww. Testing this Saturday I’m petrified about the results. It’s my first ivf ICSI Nhs. Iv low amh high fsh.

Catinthecorner · 10/07/2018 22:03

@itonlytakesone my official test is Saturday too. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you

Itonlytakesone · 10/07/2018 22:20

@Catinthecorner thanks, so nice that someone else is at the same point as me. I'm however far from hopeful unfortunately I'm so sad Iv been quite emotional Sadonly just joined here tonight to get some support it's such a hard cruel process. Thought I'd be able to deal with it all no problem turns out it's harder than i thought!

Viletta · 10/07/2018 22:27

@Itonlytakesone welcome! My test day is Sunday, I had 3day transfer. No frosties, only got one good embryo unfortunately. I’m planning short term (fancy cocktails in the sun) and long (retreat, regroup and strike again) if no success this time around. It’s my first icsi. My mum recommends me to look at pretty things, pay attention to nature so that embryo sees that’s life is pretty cool. Tbh I think nothing we do know will make a difference. It’s just a waiting game. We will get there eventually one way or another.

Itonlytakesone · 10/07/2018 22:40

@Viletta thankyou. I wish you luck on Sunday too. Ah that's nice might try the ...looking at pretty things method. My mum tells me to stay positive as i don't know the outcome yet and to take one step at a time which is sensible really but not reality (we all google every twinge) Iv already got a bottle of prosecco on ice part of my negativity at the minute thinking I'll have a glass if my test on Saturday is negative. Still hoping for a miracle.

Catinthecorner · 11/07/2018 12:31

Bit of a TMI question but I’m trying to avoid calling the clinic. I was quite constipated and bloated for the first few days after EC and ET. The tide has changed and I’m now finding I’m very loose in that department - not quite diarrhoea but not good. It’s nothing I’m eating (DH is fine and my stomach is normally of the cast iron variety). Is it the drugs (I’m on Cyclogest 400 x3 per day)?

Itonlytakesone · 11/07/2018 13:15

I'm on cyclogest 400mg too but only 2 per day maybe you are having too much? I'd check with your clinic. I was only given x32 pessaries, I too was a little constipated between egg collection and embryo transfer apparently cyclogest makes you constipated (so did the codeine) so i took (and still do) sachets of fybogel to ease this. Hope things return to normal for you soon!Blush

Viletta · 11/07/2018 14:59

@Catinthecorner maybe call the clinic and check? I am on cyclogest 400 twice a day. This doesn’t affect me at all in that department however the clinic did tell me side effect can be constipation not the other way around. I’m sure it’s all fine as our bodies are all over the place right now

Itonlytakesone · 12/07/2018 08:15

@Viletta @Catinthecorner
It's day 9 for me today. Are you having any symptoms? I'm petrified about the result day on Saturday Confused...constantly think I'm going to get my AF I'm not testing early though!

Catinthecorner · 12/07/2018 09:07

@itonlytakesone I think we’re all worried. I’m trying to remember it’s very unlikely we will all be unlucky.

The symptom spotting is awful. I have the bowel stuff going on and am bloated on and off and I’m cramping. All of which might be my period coming, might be the drugs and might be a symptom. I’m trying not to read to much into it
