The dreaded 2WW - support and suggestions welcome

Hi guys, I’m 38, with MFI and going through first round of ICSI. I had a single 5day blast transferred yesterday and so my dreaded 2WW begins. I’m trying to distract myself but so far not doing a great job.
I’ve read lots around what you should/shouldn’t be doing this time but I think there are no conclusive instructions.
Common suggestions are to:
-Rest for 24-48 hours
-Gentle exercise
-Eat a balanced diet avoiding processed and high sugar foods (specific foods like pineapple and raspberry tea are nonsense!)
-Avoid sexual intercourse until pregnancy established as this can cause disruptive contractions of the uterus.
-Avoid hot baths, sauna and steam room.

Following these instructions seems like the easy part, the hard bit is trying not to symptom-spot. The scariest part is that any symptom could be just as much a sign of unsuccessful pregnancy as it could be a sign for successful pregnancy!!
For the record, I’ve not experienced any symptoms so far. I was however curious about what the little blast was up to in there and I found this really helpful guide:

www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/articles/ivf-egg-implantation-procedure-what-happens-after-embryo-transfer

I thought others perhaps might find it useful. Would also be great to hear from others going through the same anxious wait.
Wishing everyone the best of luck x

How is everyone holding up today?

NotLateInTheMorning · 28/06/2018 15:54

Hi hi
Taken annual leave today and spent in garden reading up on post transfer early pregnancy signs... Clear white CM is very positive sign @CritterTamer... So FX for you...
I also sun-dried some tomatoes and mint...
Hope everyone else is keeping well xxx

Beherenow32 · 28/06/2018 16:22

@CritterTamer spent today in the garden with our dog. Feeling very relaxed and happy. Also, had an Indian head massage, and tried some visualisation!
We have 2 more embryos frozen.

But just now I’m really have to stop my mind from racing 😐

Hope you’re all good too x

CritterTamer · 28/06/2018 17:01

I spent some time in the garden with my dogs today - it’s so unbelievably hot here at the moment that we had to go inside after half an hour! Today I’ve been feeling nauseous and a little dizzy and faint on and off so the heat doesn’t help.

Great news on the Frosties @Beherenow32 😁 this is good TWW weather for relaxing I think. I’m still using Love Island to distract myself - look forward to 9pm every day when it’s on - I’m so sad LOL

I also spent some time in the garden with my dogs today. It’s so incredibly hot here that we had to go inside after half an hour! Today I’ve been feeling nauseous and dizzy and a little faint on and off so the heat isn’t helping.

Great news on the Frosties @Beherenow32 😁 this is great weather for relaxing in our TWW I think. Im still using Love Island to distract myself - I’m a bit obsessed and look forward to 9pm every night when it starts LOL. I’m a bit sad I know 😊

Odd - the post didn’t seem to load the first time I wrote it so did it again and then both went up - sorry all.

Hi ladies.. I am new to this! I had my embryo transfer on the 24th and I am due to test on the 4th next Wednesday! I've been going crazy, I took time off work so I have two weeks of nothing planned! Since the transfer I've been having a constant dull ache in my uterus.. a bit like AF is about to start :( is this normal? I had two blastocysts transferred one grade A and one grade B

Beherenow32 · 28/06/2018 17:20

@CritterTamer it’s so hard not to look into everything you feel!

@WindsorNewbie I’m getting that now, (transfer was yesterday) and it’s making me panic! It’s could be the progesterone I suppose. It’s so hard to know.

Argh!!! Hate this lol x

Dia12 · 28/06/2018 17:25

Hi guys, glad to read everyone’s doing well. I’ve been in the garden too, in between doing some cleaning chores. I must say beautiful weather has helped with this tww. Have been feeling some cramping and back pain, usually my indication of AF (which is due tomorrow) but thankfully no signs just yet.
Nausea sounds like a positive sign (if ever) @crittertamer. Not long to go now eeeeeek!

Well done on two frosties @beherenow32, it’s always reassuring to know there is a backup plan but hopefully you won’t need it. How are you feeling after transfer?

Welcome @windsornewbie. Sounds like you have two good quality blasts on board. The cramping and dull aches are normal, as are pulls and twinges in lower abdomen. They can mean somethings implanting or could just be your enlarged ovaries shrinking back to normal size. In any case, nothing to worry about but naturally you will - as I do!

Is it too early to test?! I am battling with myself every day... I don't know if anything would come up on day 4 after transfer Hmm
I'm so impatient it's killing me!!! Confused

Dia12 · 28/06/2018 18:08

DON’T DO IT!! Walk away from the HPT! It’s way too early you won’t get a reliable reading and if it’s a false negative you will just upset yourself - just like I did!

OP posts:
WindsorNewbie · 28/06/2018 18:12

@Dia12 ok ok... haha I won't... I will wait it out. I hope I can make it... I'm currently on cyclogest and progynova and I'm pretty sure they have a role to play in how awful I'm feeling!

Beherenow32 · 28/06/2018 18:24

@Dia12 I was feeling very positive and calm today. Now that I’m starting to get aches, I am starting to feel low again. Just panicking that it’s a repeat of my last failed transfers. It’s so early tho, so I don’t want to be worrying yet. I’ve read your post, and will keep those other reasons for the pain in mind xx

Dia12 · 28/06/2018 19:23

its such a nerve-wracking process, I’m up and down too. But you’re doing great @beherenow. In fact so far, we all are, so each day is a little victory, a day closer xx

OP posts:
CritterTamer · 28/06/2018 20:25

@WindsorNewbie - they are so right- it’s way too early. At 4dpt you ma6 we’ll still have HCG in your system from the trigger shot which would give you a false positive. It can stay in your system for up to 12 days. Whatever result you got it would be totally unreliable.

It really is a rollercoaster - excitement one minute and despair the next! I just realised I made a mistake with my OTD - it’s actually Tuesday not Wednesday so will be the same day as you @Dia12 😊

I have to say that IF there’s still no AF by Sunday I will probably test on Sunday, just because I wouldn’t be able to face going into work on a Tuesday morning after a BFN.

Has anyone else got weird digestive issues going on? Really bad gas, bubbling and gurgling stomach and very loose stools ( sorry for TMI) - is it the progesterone? I keep waking DH up all night with such loud farts😂

Charmers1 · 29/06/2018 10:55

Unfortunately a BFN for me this morning. I am feeling slightly sad but surprisingly ok which is weird. It is our first cycle so I guess I think I always knew it would be a big ask for it to work this time round. I have read some people get bfns at 16 days post EC but go on to then get a bfp later but I just don’t think it’s the case for me. I am so relieved to be off the progesterone! It was making me feel so sick!

Unfortunately we didn’t get any embryos to freeze and are on NHS so I suspect we will need to pay for fresh cycle. We have two funded frozen cycles so maybe we can still use those after next fresh round.

Lots to look forward to this month though including 2 weddings, a hen do and a holiday to Italy so trying to be positive.

I really really hope it works out for all you ladies - please do post when you get your results, I am keen to find out if it was all a success for you.

Having you all here for the last two weeks has been super and so nice not to feel alone so thank you.

Lots and lots of love xxx

Dia12 · 29/06/2018 11:27

So sorry to hear that @charmers1. It’s a lot to process and can never be easy but sounds like you’re focussed on the positives and the potential opportunities you still have to explore. It’s my first time too and my heart goes out to all of us struggling, we’ll eventually get there Flowers xx

I’ve also read many anecdotal accounts of how people still get a BFP 14+dpt but I can’t imagine how horrible it must be having to keep testing.

It’s great that you have 2 more frozen transfers funded. We only have the one funded cycle, but I’m grateful I even have that as I hear some people don’t have any funding at all Confused

I hope you are able to take some time out and heal from the disappointment but know that your time will come xxx

Beherenow32 · 29/06/2018 11:33

@Charmers1 I’m so sorry to hear your news. But your attitude moving on is amazing. I was depressed after our first cycle, and it really didn’t help anything at all. Wishing you all the best.

Hope everyone else is ok. I’m planning on going out today. Then I worry that I could be doing too much, and then tell myself to stop stressing and just do lovely things! Xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 29/06/2018 12:52

Sorry about you BFN @charmers but pleased you are making peace with it.
I had my ET yesterday and I've decided it is going to work and I'm going to have a boy on the 15th March, I figure although I may be setting myself up for a fall I'll feel no worse if I'm wrong and it's a BFN than if it's just a BFN and at least thinking positively like this should hopefully stop me stressing so much for the next two weeks.

Beherenow32 · 29/06/2018 13:34

@TheArtfulScreamer that’s a good way of thinking. I’ve always been negative. But want to try your way. When we left transfer DH said he think it’s a girl. Would be lovely! Xx

Beherenow32 · 29/06/2018 18:32

Been out walking loads, and not getting aches and pains. That’s the stress starting! Going to have a takeaway tonight 😩
Hope everyone is managing ok. And enjoys the weekend xx

Beherenow32 · 29/06/2018 18:42

Now getting aches and pains

CritterTamer · 29/06/2018 23:04

@Charmers1 I’m so sorr6 to hear you had a BFN. Your positivity about moving on is inspirational - I can only hope that I will be able to be so strong!
