DH is going for his sperm sample to be tested today and hes so nervous and the GP wants me to have some blood tests done and swabs at a later date. So nervous of what to expect and terrified of the possibility of IVF I've heard its so painful ?
We've been trying to have a baby for over 3yrs with 2 chemical pregnancies so far Sad

Seems crazy that they dnt do all these tests rather than sending u straight to ivf ive had my 21day bloods done and my OH has had SA thats it! Im hoping my hycosy shows a simple blockage that can b fixed thats my last bit of hope im clinging to..

thisisouryrfx18 · 23/09/2018 10:22

LillyLeaf · 23/09/2018 21:23

@thisisouryrfx18 that's amazing. I could do with doing some exercise. Keep telling myself to do yoga everyday, it's not working.Grin

thisisouryrfx18 · 24/09/2018 16:35

Thanks ladies it has given me a little boost at least my bodys working in one sense

TTC73 · 24/09/2018 18:42

Had my 1-5 day test today just gotta wait for the 21 day test on 11th now then hopefully we'll finally get referred though i don't get why its taking months for us because it should only be taking weeks to get the referral ? They've already put me on Clomid ffs why can't they just sign me off into the care of the hospital for treatment we've established what the problem is we have an answer now we just need the treatment

@TTC73 Yh i know sadly it doesnt work that way ive been told i could be on a 12mnth waiting list its beyond ridiculous

TTC73 · 25/09/2018 14:16

Is that 12months wait to actually be referred to hospital or a 12 month wait for IVF ?

OP posts:
thisisouryrfx18 · 25/09/2018 14:26

@TTC73 the wait is for the ivf but i had to wait a few months for my bloods and myOH s SA to be dealt with then3mnths to go to the hospital now 12mnths to b seen at the ivf facility its horrendous! Hopefully u wnt b that long

thisisouryrfx18 · 01/10/2018 18:44

Well still no appt through im beyond annoyed now!

thisisouryrfx18 · 01/10/2018 18:45

Hows everyone else copying/gettin on ? Xx

SpringLake · 01/10/2018 18:58

I'm waiting for my surgery appt. It's been two weeks... and not heard a peep from the hospital or the private clinic they referred us to. I'm trying to put it all in a 'box' with the lid firmly closed until the first letter comes through. The break has been really nice, but at this rate I will have to chase them up!

thisisouryrfx18 · 01/10/2018 19:21

@SpringLake ive been trying to do the same but thats 5wks now and ive heard nothing. I ll need to fone n chase it up 2morro like u said sometimes its gd to put it to the back of ur mind

SpringLake · 02/10/2018 18:11

@thisisouryrfx after I called today (they said: snowed under, expect a letter with another 2 weeks... likely to be for Jan/Feb!) I got an automated email from the private clinic... so they have at least processed my referral... although I'm pushing the boundary as it's only valid for 6 months (I need to "spend" it all by end March!) and it's my last chance on nhs. Hope you had better luck chasing up your letter!

thisisouryrfx18 · 03/10/2018 10:16

@SpringLake ive still not foned im in total ostrich mode i need a gd shake! ..sorry u have to wait soo long these waiting lists really are the pits hun x

SpringLake · 04/10/2018 17:38

@thisisouryrfx18 the same day I called, I had a letter waiting at home... a copy of the 'updating you' letter to my GP and then a text from the Fertility clinic. There's a lot to be said for chasing up, it will at least reassure you that you're not forgotten :) At least we can start spending NHS money on the first appointments, and (maybe) getting a (third) opinion for free.

squirrelnutkins1 · 04/10/2018 18:24

Glad you've heard now 😊 @SpringLake

SpringLake · 04/10/2018 18:37

@squirrelnutkins1 Thank you. It is good to know they have processed something. I don't have a date for surgery yet. They keep saying Jan-ish so I'm trying to pretend it doesn't matter... if they offered an earlier slot/cancellation I'd bite their hand off anyway, so all could change on short notice! :)
How is everyone doing? threads a bit quiet. I hope that's a good sign.

squirrelnutkins1 · 04/10/2018 21:34

Yeah it's always good to know you've not been forgotten and the ball is rolling. Smile

I'm waiting each day for the post to come! Waiting for an appointment for my lap and I think it's called HSG (dye through tubes to check for blockages). They're going to do them at the same time.

HMJ19 · 06/10/2018 01:20

Hey, these threads are so useful for venting. We are still awaiting our referral appointment with fertility but already know I have PCOs and am not ovulating and DH has 1% morphology so we aren't in a brilliant position. Our GP suggested our only chance may be IVF / ICSI but having read lot's of threads etc. I'm hoping the fertility specialists will have more suggestions / information.

I definitely know what you mean about the anger. Some people seem to do everything wrong and yet are popping children out left, right and center.

The only thing now is trying to convince my DH to try acupuncture etc. when he thinks everything like that is hokum!

Laura207 · 06/10/2018 11:51

Hi ladies mind if I join? We've had most of our tests done, mine all seem to be within normal range but DH has azoospermia (there's no obstruction so it's some kind of testicular dysfunction - meaning not enough sperm is being produced to show up in his sample - basically zero!!) which means more than likely we'll need donor sperm - we had tests done at GP/then gynaecology (which is completely baffling isn't it since we are male factor!) the consultant referred us to the fertility clinic so just waiting for the letter from them and my DH then has to have surgical sperm retrieval but there's less than 40% chance anything will be found. I'm hoping we'll find out for certain before christmas - so we can move on with whatever path it may be. Our consultant said last week we would be seen at fertility clinic "in a few weeks" so I hope that's the case. I completely empathise the waiting and process of it all is so hard - we received his diagnosis March/April time which was a huge bomb shell and grieving process, then the tests just feel to have taken so long -but I suppose once we know our path we can start to feel abit more empowered at least.

SpringLake · 09/10/2018 17:52

hello @hmj19 which referral appointment areyou waiting for? nhs fertility or direct to a private clinic? hope you can get ov drugs to kick start your own system.

hello @laura207 i had to wait 3 weeks for my referral, pack from the private clinic. hope it arrives for you soon. do they know if, if one day/month can differ for your dp? maybe the stress of first time (needles etc: understandable!) could reduce the count and a repeat time could be better?

squirrelnutkins1 · 09/10/2018 18:16

Had my blood test yesterday for AMH. So worried about the results ☹️ look at the bruise I got!! Apparently my veins aren't very good lol!!

Anyone else just starting their journey ?
squirrelnutkins1 · 09/10/2018 18:17

Welcome x @HMJ19 and @Laura207

LillyLeaf · 09/10/2018 18:26

Oh no that bruise looks awful. When it had my AMH i got a bad bruise too and i have good veins. I think it just depends on the nurse. I've started taking Cyclogest/progesterone pre IVF cycle, i should start injecting on 18th ish. Very real now. The progesterone is making me exhausted.
