Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

What does that mean for you @windy?

windy2909 · 26/05/2018 21:01

@ivorycloud - hi, I have been awaiting my first transfer (fet) and was told when LH surge was detected, I would have transfer 6 days later. I’m going to test again in the morning to see if it’s still high or if not I’m assuming surge is over and ovulation is happening.

IvoryCloud · 26/05/2018 23:02

@windy I understand now, thank you for explaining. I get confused with all the different ways of approaching treatment.

IvoryCloud · 27/05/2018 02:55

Awake again Sad

Feeling overly hot and nauseous.

This is the worst side effect for me.

And now a cat is howling somewhere outside...

LoveYouTilTheEnd · 27/05/2018 07:08

That’s tough Ivory Sad What is it you’re taking at the minute and how long left on them?

Hope you managed to get back to sleep..

moleeye · 27/05/2018 07:24

@IvoryCloud that sounds so rubbish. You must be exhausted hope you are able to grab a nap at some stage today x

Beherenow32 · 27/05/2018 08:27

@IvoryCloud I remember the hot flushes. Always worse at night 😞 we had the window open, and I would have to strip off and make sure DH was no where near me! Lol

The stimulation drugs made me EXHAUSTED! So slept all the time. Hopefully you can catch on sleep when you start them (sorry if you already have! They’re meant to ease up the side effects of down regg) x

IvoryCloud · 27/05/2018 10:45

Thank you for your kind comments, @LoveYou, @moleeye and @Beherenow.

I got back to sleep sometime not long after 3:30, woke up at 7 but went back to sleep and woke up at 9! I don't have the headache I woke up with yesterday, so I think today's going to be a better day!

I'm currently taking Buserelin and Gonal F - I'm already stimming @Beherenow. I'm doing mild (!) IVF, so missed the downregging part of conventional IVF. I do feel exhausted during the day, so little energy. Going to have to find some though, because my DM is on her way to stay for a week!

My EC date will be w/c 4th June, so I think I'm going to carry on as l am until then. There might be a bit of tweaking of dosage following my scan on the 29th, I don't know.

Exciting, isn't it Sad

Still, every day's a day closer to getting through this! Must.... Stay.... Positive....!

How are you all doing today xx

Beherenow32 · 27/05/2018 11:53

@IvoryCloud. Sorry! What I said wasn’t much use then. You’re coping amazing. It’s not easy. X

IvoryCloud · 27/05/2018 14:06

Thanks x

jodybug0908 · 27/05/2018 19:35

Hello all xx starting round2 ICSI at Guys Hospital and am petrified that I’ll do injections wrong!! My day1 came yesterday and had to rush to the clinic today to pick up emergency medications until rest arrive. I didn’t do menopur last time and am freaked out that I’ll do it wrong!

Beherenow32 · 27/05/2018 20:03

@jodybug0908 hi! I hated doing menopur. Too much hassle, and had to get my DH to break open the glass bottles (until the very last one, which I managed to do!!) take your time when you do it and I’m sure that you won’t do it wrong. It is fiddly, but after the first few, you will know what you’re doing xx

natz26 · 27/05/2018 20:05

Jody you'll be absolutely fine did they give you info sheets at the injections teaching session? If not is there an emergency number for the clinic you could ring for peace of mind.

I start my injections tomorrow it been such a long process.

jodybug0908 · 27/05/2018 20:27

Heya xx I didn’t get given a leaflet just had consultant show me how to do it. It’s all been a rush tbh. I only had my initial appointment on Friday and then period appeared yesterday! He gave me some meds from the clinic to tie me over until my stuff arrives later this week. I put menopur and gonalF in the fridge- is that right as menopur already been mixed? Should I keep at room temp? I’ll be fine just in a tizzy as it’s all come around so quickly!

natz26 · 27/05/2018 20:38

Ok seems like every clinic does things differently as I wasn't told to put my medication in the fridge. To be sure I would just ring them its not worth the stress, plus stress is not good for this process

jodybug0908 · 27/05/2018 20:45

Yeah I’ll ring them tomorrow. I know for a fact that menopur has to be in the fridge before its mixed but just not sure if I need to once it’s been mixed up. Each bottle gives 8 doses. Same with GonalF in fridge until it’s used just not sure about once I’ve started using a pen. I’ll be ok once I’ve done a few xx thanks x

Beherenow32 · 27/05/2018 21:17

@jodybug0908 I didn’t need to keep my menopur in the fridge, before mixing up. Defo phone the clinic and get step by step instructions, right then down while you’re on the phone. It’s a lot to take in.
4 days until I start down regg again. Can’t believe it! 😱 x

Dia12 · 28/05/2018 11:54

Hi guys, hope you’re all well and managed to enjoy the long weekend despite the thunderstorms.

Last night I discovered another couple we know are pregnant (out with a group of friends), and despite trying my level best to feel elated for them, I’m sure my devastation was all too obvious. Then I feel worse for not being able to hide my feelings well enough. Blush

Hope your scan goes @windmill1828. Can’t believe you have to travel to London today, hope the traffic isn’t horrendous.

How are you getting on with your injections @natz26? I’ve almost completed 2 weeks of downreg and nothing different except for my period being super heavy and painful. I’ll find out just how well the buserelin has worked on my scan on 31st.

windy2909 · 28/05/2018 17:12

Hey everyone, hope all of you on down reg or stims are doing well and those of you who are waiting to get started are finding the time is not going too slowly.

I had my final bloods today and phone call to confirm transfer is scheduled for this Saturday. Currently sitting in the sun, trying to stay calm. Hoping the additional vitamin d will stand me in good stead...every little helps 🤞🤞🤞.

jodybug0908 · 28/05/2018 19:18

I don’t like the menopur. Once mixed each bottle makes up 1200mls so does 8 doses but there doesn’t look enough liquid and petrified of wasting too much getting rid of the air bubbles 😥

moleeye · 28/05/2018 20:13

@windy2909 that is fantastic news! You must be feeling excited, nervous and apprehensive all in one go xx

Windmill1828 · 28/05/2018 20:41

Hello everyone, sorry I've not been on, it's been a crazy weekend and haven't stopped! Yep, @Dia12 I had my scan - thanks for remembering me!☺️ went ok, still a bit on the small side so they've upped my dose for the next few days and tomorrow I start the other injection (overtrille or something, can't remember) to stop me ovulating!
Back to sunny London on Wednesday!

Hope everyone's had a lovely weekend in the sunshine - we managed to get away without a single drop of rain! 😄

windy2909 · 28/05/2018 21:23

@moleeye - I am beside myself with all of those emotions!

@windmill - glad your scan went well. Is it ovitrelle you’ve to take?

Windmill1828 · 28/05/2018 21:34

@windy2909 yep that's the one! Start that tomorrow along with my increased dose of Bemfola. But concerned as I only have three Bemfolas left! 😳 she said that there was only a couple of decent sized ones today and the rest were still small. They've put me on a low dose to stop me developing ohss. Thinking it was maybe a bit too low! I think they can extend the stimms but I'll find out on Wednesday hopefully!
I don't think I'll be long behind you, I just wish I could get some kind of date so DP can start to prepare 😂 and plan a baby sitter for DD as it's half term!!! Xxx

windy2909 · 28/05/2018 21:40

@windmill - the clinics even to use meds in different ways...I was given ovitrelle as an hcg trigger shot before ovulation. Here’s hoping you have good growth between now and Wednesday and you can get a date for collection. Must be more tricky when you already have a little one to think of!
