Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Also my AMH has gone up for reasons I don't understand. It was around 12 in October. Now 24. Done at two different clinics but still...!

@cannonball - sorry you have to wait longer than expected...that sucks. How long do you reckon before you can start down regging? I don’t know if it depends on the meds to down reg, but I had absolutely no mood swings? Maybe your husband is going to be safe!

I’m currently attending the clinic every two days for bloods. Estrogen is rising, as is progesterone (slowly) and no LH surge yet....I have been googling wildly and comparing my levels to charts like a woman possessed! From my research I think I’m a few days away from ovulation and then when they detect the surge, I will be booked in for transfer 6 days later. I’m hoping that will be able to happen at the beginning of June 🤞.

Beherenow32 · 23/05/2018 22:11

@windy2909 that’s so close!
My turn for being emotional! Trying to watch a funny film, and there’s a woman who is all emotional because she decides she wants baby, but has prob left it too late.... 😞 just hit me that this is all real, and I’ve been pushing it to the back of my mind.

After a cry, will pick myself up again.

And thank you so much for the protein tips. Getting to the new diet ASAP! Xx

LoveYouTilTheEnd · 23/05/2018 22:12

Hi all, can I join please?
We finally got our confirmation to get started today! DH had his TESE (MFI) last week so we got the good results today thankfully meaning we’re good to go! I’m on CD1 today so I start tablets between days 16-21 for 10 days, I’m sure she said something about a little bleed, then injections. I sound like I don’t listen but honestly I do Blush
They didnt give names though so until the medication comes I don’t know what I’m going to be taking, but hopefully that’s around the 7th ish of June! Can’t believe it’s finally here!
You have all taught me about short and long protocols and various other things so thank you! Been TTC for over 3 years, plus a 6 month stint before we got engaged, fingers crossed we all get our happy endings this time Smile

Windmill1828 · 24/05/2018 12:21

Hi! Grin

Can I join? On day three stimms- Bemfola 112.5 which is quite a low dose. Nothing to report really - first scan tomorrow which I think is quite early but it’s a bank holiday weekend so I’m not sure what they’ll see!

Would be great to find other ladies going through the same thing - it’s a minefield! Hmm

cannonball8726 · 24/05/2018 15:58

Hey Windy, you're really close! You are going to be PUPO very soon :) will be downregging in four weeks. EC and ET won't be until end of July. So some time to go still...! Going to keep myself super busy with work and nice things to look forward to in the meantime.

Beherenow, sorry you had a shitty day :( hope you're feeling a little better today. Well done on the IVF diet - I've had way too many treats this week. Salmon and roast veg for dinner for me tonight!

LoveYouTilTheEnd, welcome! Nice to hear you're starting soon. Hope the days fly by!

Is anyone booking any time off during treatment?

cannonball8726 · 24/05/2018 15:59

Hi windmill, glad the stimms are going well so far!

LoveYouTilTheEnd · 24/05/2018 17:32

Sounds like we might be similar timing cannon Smile what nice things do you have planned? We do like wasting out but like the rest of you, I’m really trying to eat well, especially considering the bloating a lot of people talk about.
I’m so glad I can finally join one of these threads!

LoveYouTilTheEnd · 24/05/2018 17:33

Eating out!! Not wasting Hmm

Beherenow32 · 24/05/2018 18:41

@cannonball8726 thanks. I’m eating takeaway tonight. Lol. Really don't think that I’ve eaten enough today at all :( tbh, I’ve eaten out a couple of times this week. I’ll just up my protein but eat what I want too.

I think I will have to have time off. This is my last ivf (I think) and I have quite a physical job. But I haven’t decided what to take off yet. I was quite sore for a week or so after egg collection. I had a swollen ovarie for a while. Have you decided what you will do?

Hi to the new other newbies 🙂 you’ll find with me, I just moan/ worry about what I eat. Lol. Will try to relax with that xx

Windmill1828 · 24/05/2018 19:17

Can I ask, when are we supposed to eat more protein?
In fact.. does anyone have any tips about anything? Totally new to all this.. I'm on day 3 injection today! Scan tomorrow. Grin

I'm lucky, I've got three weeks off before I start a new job - the timing might just be right.

Xxx

Beherenow32 · 24/05/2018 19:26

@Windmill1828 I have never been told to eat more protein by my dr. But, I have read that you should while stimming, up to 60g. I always struggle to eat much. Feel so full during stims.

Also, beetroot, red raspberry leaf tea, and pomegranate juice to help thicken lining (mines was much thicker after doing this but could have been the change in drugs), and a hot water bottle on every day before egg collection to help mature eggs and thicken lining.

I wouldn’t stress about this tho. I just do it to try and make myself feel better and more in control. But the. I feel guilty when I eat something “bad”

Good luck for your scan!

Windmill1828 · 24/05/2018 19:36

Beherenow32 Thanks for all the info!
I'm trying Noton to stress too much for my first time and maybe go with the flow as I have a tendency to over think and over google! Blush
I had an ectopic in March and I'm worried that the tube they saved has blocked and filled with toxic fluid, if this has happened it's a no go at EC and we would have to freeze and I'd have to wait for surgery on NHS before we can do any more!
Urgh! Sad

windy2909 · 24/05/2018 19:44

@windmill1828, @loveyoutiltheend, hello and welcome to the thread 😀.

@beherenow - it’s easy to be tempted....bad foods taste great! I am a comfort eater. Made a healthy chicken stir fry tonight to try to compensate for the Dominos pizza I devoured with hubby last night. 😱

@cannonball - I know.....it’s hard not to get excited! I have never even been PUPO in my life before! Terrified something goes wrong and I don’t get to that stage, so trying to keep myself grounded. I hope the time goes quickly for you. Do you need to book time off your work. Could you not just tell them you need some time for a medical procedure?

ginandtonicformeplease · 24/05/2018 20:27

We saw a nutritionist who advised what to eat and what to avoid - DH took a liking to beetroot juice and is still drinking it, even though his job is over and it's bloody expensive! I can't stand the stuff, but I did give up coffee and Gin (most of the time). Protein - I got some organic whey powder off amazon, and then some crusha milkshake mix to flavour it. DH is still drinking those as well.

IvoryCloud · 24/05/2018 21:09

Hi everyone, I'd like to join in if I may? I'm on day 3 of my first (mild) IVF cycle, injecting Buserelin and Gonal F once a day. I haven't told many people at all in RL what I'm doing, but I know I could do with some support... this is shit Sad

Beherenow32 · 24/05/2018 21:12

@ginandtonicformeplease maybe I should have saw a nutritionist. When I eat healthy, I actually feel so rubbish. Maybe not eating enough calories that way. Hope their advice was useful.

@IvoryCloud it is so rubbish. Especially when you’re going through the treatment. Just makes it all that real. Will your egg collection be quite soon then?

moleeye · 24/05/2018 21:29

Hi Ladies, can I join?
Two weeks so far of down regs and day 3 of Ovaleap which I believe is just a fancy brand name for Gonal F. On a really high dosage of 450 which isn't fun (low egg reserve, I'm 38).
Hoping EC for 5th June with ET on 8th if all goes to plan with 19th June as our test date x

IvoryCloud · 24/05/2018 21:59

@beherenow My EC will most likely either be Mon 4th June or Weds 6th, so yes, quite soon. I'll have a scan on the 29th and on the 1st, should know the EC date after the scan on the 1st. I'm feeling a bit low with it this evening.

IvoryCloud · 24/05/2018 22:03

Ooo,@moleeye - our EC dates are pretty close!

Windmill1828 · 24/05/2018 22:49

I'm about the same ec date as you guys two. I'll find out more tomorrow. Are you feeling any side effects yet? Xx

moleeye · 25/05/2018 03:00

@ivorycloud I have scans on 29th and 1st too! X

The biggest side effect for me is heartburn. It’s constant from about 7pm and wakes me up every night between 2-3am!
I think I’ve been lucky so far as I haven’t felt any bloating and have only had a couple days of headaches. But the heartburn has been so awful, it’s actually caused me to throw up a couple times.
I’m dreading the suppositories though....
I hadn’t appreciated how taxing this process was going to be and think I was a little naive going into it
@windmill it’s exciting and so nerve wracking isn’t it? X

IvoryCloud · 25/05/2018 04:38

Hi @Windmill and @moleeye - Nice to meet you both Smile. Re side effects - I woke up v suddenly about an hour ago feeling v nauseous. Shot out of bed before I knew what I was doing! Currently sat downstairs with water to sip and back door wide open. I hate feeling like this Sad. I may have overheated when sleeping. I was a bit sweaty and clammy when I bounced out of bed.

I have also become quite bloated and farty Blush. And tired in the (early) evening. My fuse is also shorter... BUT I haven't had heartburn. That sounds terrible, @moleeye, I hope it eases off for you soon. We'll have to swap updates after our same day scans!

Good luck for finding out more tomorrow/today @Windmill re EC. I hope you've both had a better sleep than I've had.

moleeye · 25/05/2018 11:57

Oh god yes, the wind!!!!! If it's not one end it's the other! I'm like a teenage boy 🙈

Good luck @Windmill1828 xx

Beherenow32 · 25/05/2018 13:13

Getting serious food aversions! Is that the pill? 😣 everything (especially healthy) makes me feel sick.

Good luck all for your ec when it comes. Wish I was closer just to get it done. For those who haven’t had it before, the actual process for me was fine. Had a lovely sleep, then lunch when you wake up. Just nerve wracking waiting to find out how many eggs there are 🤞
