Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

@Dia12. No they don’t want to increase my dose so just got to hope really. Feeling like a failure.

Just back from my EC- got 6 eggs from my 8 giant follies so clinic was ver6 happy 😊 I’m totally spaced out from the drugs so off to sleep for a bit now for me.

@Ginandtonic31 - oh no 😔 it’s odd that they don’t want to up your dose - is there still plenty of time for them to grow?

@Dia12 - good luck, and @Physicskate good luck also!

@Ginandtonic31 oh no! It’s not your fault! The hospital have obv put you on the wrong dose. How long until you have another scan??

My ec will now be wed or fri next week. Follicles are growing steadily, and lining is thicker than usual. So, all ok.

@BeHerenow they aren’t upping my dose so misyvbe fine. Think I’m just a slow starter and just need to carry on.

Ginandtonic31 - you cannot fail at something you have no control over - it took me a long time and some money to begin to see that
please don't be hard on yourself - as you say, you just need to carry on x

Hope everyone else's EC went well too...

I had my 9 day scan today. Follicles in left ovary growing OK. Right-hand side seems to have reacted much better so EC on Monday. Fingers crossed.

I found it really helpful to hear what others have been doing, so will write-down what I have done/am trying to do: I kept the hot water bottle on the right-hand side much more, and think this may have helped. I have significantly increased my intake of protein-rich food (everyday I've had Greek yogurt, eggs, brazil nuts, almonds, chicken and protein shake). No alcohol or coffee and only one cup of tea a day. I have tried to cut out processed foods/sugar (don't always stick to this). I have taken time off work and pottered around the house (always find this calms me). I will have acupuncture on Saturday. Because I was a plonker and messed up my centrotide timings, I have made a flow chart mapping my treatment.

When i feel crappy, I let myself cry. I try to listen to my body more and nap when tired, which is what I am going to do now!

ps...my hot water bottle is not super hot and my protein shakes are not straight from the fridge (I try to have food/drinks at room temp)

We got 18 eggs from my 30 million follicles. Very tired and quite sore. Hot water bottle helping. Tired and in bed. Will see if any fertilise tomorrow...

Medium risk of ohss so have to go back in on Monday for 'checks'.

Well said @Notlateinthemorning re:failure. I couldn’t agree more. Keep your chin up @ginandtonic31 and keep going, it’s not over yet.

Pleased to read your scan went well @beherenow. Hopefully you can relax a little now before EC.

Great news with EC @crittertamer and @physicskate (wowsers @18 eggs!!). My procedure went well too and got 10 eggs, so relieved. Feeling some sharp twinges of pain but doing good otherwise, glad this bit is all over.

Fingers crossed we all hear good news tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. Just a down day for me. I asked if it’s possible that I jistvwont create any at all and they said no you will do you just need time and more drugs. At least if this one is cancelled they will know for next time. Just didn’t see this happening! Thought once I got the go ahead to start I was all on!

@Ginandtonic31 It may be that yours are slow growers - mine were just pottering along until suddenly whoosh! all grew big enough 

@physicskate I found that lucozade helped after EC (high risk for OHSS here, almost ended up in hospital). Apparently coconut water has the same qualities but the sleepy town I live in doesn't seem to stock it. Hot water bottles are great as well - plus sleep of course!

Is anyone doing a FET? I'm taking progynova 3x a day and got my first scan for thickness next week. We had a couple of months off after EC because I apparently needed time to recover but all my healthy eating has fallen by the wayside unfortunately.

@Ginandtonic31 I think it’s a positive that they have upped your dose. Hopefully this helps thins along. You still have time!! 🙂 xx

@ginandtonicformepleasr great name yes I’m hoping that happens. They all just grow together. It’s scary thinking I may get none. My estrogen levels were also massively low suggesting nothing had happened at all. So they’ve put me up to 200 but I still think they should be putting me higher and lowering on Monday if too much! I guess they just don’t know how I will react yet. So frustrating knowing nothing is happening.

I'm triggering tonight - getting a tad nervous because I can't feel any activity in ovaries, no twinges/aches/bloating...but hopefully, all OK

Oh wow, excellent news crittertamer - the magic part happened!! you’re embryologist is a quick one!

I’m still waiting and a little nervous now. My mum and sis are over and they don’t know a thing. Have told them I have period pain to explain why I’m taking it easy! Wish I could tell them but Mum would drive me nuts with questions and stress.

Wow of my 18 eggs, 13 have fertilised!! They only put 12 in the embryoscope so one is left out. Surely we'll get one from that??

@Notlateinthemorning - hope your trigger shot goes well later - they wouldn’t have told you to go ahead and trigger if nothing was happening surely so FX you’ll be fine!

@Dia12 and @Physicskate - hope you’ve both had good news! You both got lots of eggs so FX for lots of little embryos xxx
