IVF/ICSI June/July 2018

Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

@Beherenow32 we rarely fall out but when we do, I like to think on my own and then deal with it and he like to talk about it - that's the problem.
I'm sure we will be fine, he's out at the moment so nothing can be done right now.

Managed not to mess up my penultimate cetrotide woohoo!
4 more injections and that's me done! 🎉🎉🎉

Weather is miserable though 😞

moleeye · 02/06/2018 11:02

@Windmill1828 sorry to hear that. They do tend to put their feet in it don't they?! Completely understand your reaction. Hope you're on speaking terms soon xx

@CritterTamer typical isn't it?!!!

@IvoryCloud that's amazing news! Yay x

@windy2909 hope today goes ok x

Sorry if I've missed anyone and any dates. Thinking of you all xx

IvoryCloud · 02/06/2018 11:52

@Windmill I think your reaction was understandable. If it was me, I would be pissed off and upset by it, and I would question myself and my DP. But, after a bit of time, I hope I would be ready to talk it through. Good luck Smile

Windmill1828 · 02/06/2018 12:58

Thanks girls! ☺️ makes me feel better knowing you'd all feel in a similar way!

All I'm doing today is trying to find food with lots of protein in 😂 oh and drinking milk!

Ginandtonic31 · 02/06/2018 19:49

Hi everyone, I'm hoping I can join this little group. I'm due to start injecting for EC on Friday (fingers crossed). I still need to go back and read through the whole thread but just wanted to say hi first and start chatting.

I'm feeling okay about the injections. My biggest worry right now is that I'mnot eating weel enough and now it's too late and also that the stress of work will have an impact. But just got to wait and see.

longrd · 02/06/2018 21:04

Hi hope it's ok of I join I have 1 little girl from icsi and we've been trying for number 2 with 3 failed attempts.
Going to try again hopefully in a couple of days just waiting for Af to start.
We took the past few months of so I could get my head back together and my body (I gain loads of weight with the meds) so been working out and eating healthy.
Is anyone going to start treatment soon?

CritterTamer · 02/06/2018 22:03

Hi Gin pandtonic and Iongrd. I’m also waiting for AF in order to start injecting. First IVF cycle for me so no idea what to expect except what I learn from the lovely ladies on these threads 😊 it definitely nice to have somewhere to go where there are people who understand what it’s all about and what you’re going through.

Sorry to hear about your 3 failed attempts Ginandtonic - let’s hope this one is our cycle!

IvoryCloud · 02/06/2018 22:10

Hi everyone. I've just administered my trigger shot ShockShockShock

CritterTamer · 02/06/2018 22:14

Ooh exciting, does that mean EC on Monday?

IvoryCloud · 03/06/2018 00:02

Yep @CritterTamer! Hope I did it right!

moleeye · 03/06/2018 05:41

@longrd @Ginandtonic31 hi ladies

Sorry to hear that G&T, hope this round works!

@IvoryCloud whoop whoop!!! How did it go? Xx

Windmill1828 · 03/06/2018 07:42

@IvoryCloud ooooh!!!! 😁😁😁 I'm so excited for you!!! Mines tonight! I'm dreading I'll get it wrong!! 🙈🙈

Hello everyone that's just joined 👋🏼

Beherenow32 · 03/06/2018 08:37

@Windmill1828 @IvoryCloud

Wow! The last injection. You 2 won’t be doing it wrong. It’s the easiest one! All measured out for you. Just check there’s no liquid left. And you do it at the right time. The doctor will check what time you done it

Enjoy a day without doing an injection it will feel strange.

Hi to @longrd @Ginandtonic31

This will be my 3rd fresh cycle (also had a FET). All failed, so just going through the motions now! Just feels like part of your life when you get to this stage! Wishing you both all the best x

longrd · 03/06/2018 08:56

Thanks ladies...feeling positive about the next cycle it helps that the sun shining!
Sounds like a couple off you are coming up to egg collection soon...exciting.
Is anyone doing icsi? I just got my menpure delivered the other day makes it all feel more real.

Beherenow32 · 03/06/2018 09:07

@longrd we’re doing ICSI. Had menopur last time, but will be trying Gonal F this time round x

Ginandtonic31 · 03/06/2018 09:07

@longrd I believe ours is ICSI.

I take my last contraceptive pill tonight with the aim of starting Friday. It’s then our wedding anniversary Saturday and can’t even drink!

IvoryCloud · 03/06/2018 09:36

Crampy, cramping cramps @moleeye, @Windmill and @Beherenow SadConfused.

That's how I'm feeling. But I guess that means I got it right last night!

Also Grin - EC tomorrow at 8am!

@Beherenow thanks for your reassuring comments. I was worried I'd got it wrong just because it's so critical to get right! I worried it wasn't administered far enough below the line of my belly button, that I didn't check to see whether there was a little bit of fluid at the top of the needle before injection and that I bled a little bit afterwards from the injection site. My cramps and your words are reassuring!

Good luck for tonight @Windmill - I will be thinking of you! xx

Windmill1828 · 03/06/2018 09:52

@IvoryCloud you'll be fine ivory! 😘
I'm still surprised that they allow us to stick medicine in us 3 times a day and even mix it ourselves 😂
I'm currently having a panic because on Friday she gave me my extra stimm medication for fri/sat/sun
3x225
3x75
to make it up to 300. In the end she told me not to take the 75 as evidence suggests it would make that much difference.
Just been in the box in the fridge and I still have 2x 225 and 3x75
😳😳 I think I've finally lost the plot!
I swear I've done 2x225 in fact I've just been through the sharps box and there is 2 x 225!
It's trigger tonight - I wouldn't stimm after trigger would I?

Katjoneskins · 03/06/2018 09:57

Hi everyone, can I join too? Im 38 & Ive been TTC for 5 years, & had 2 early miscarriages during that time, then unexplained infertility following an infection after the second miscarriage. We've just been told by the NHS that because I have very low AMH & low follicle count we will have to use an egg donor (who I have to find) It's fair enough, I understand it just isn't cost effective for them to try & stimulate me when it probably won't work. However we really want to try using my own eggs (esp as I don't have anyone who meets the criteria for a donor) so we've decided to pay & go private with CARE (my mum is helping us pay or it wouldn't be an option!, we are gardeners!) CARE have suggested trying natural cycle IVF for my situation. We are going to start in July hopefully. I'm not expecting it to work but want to try. I'm doing everything to increase my egg health & have been for a while. I run every morning, I don't eat sugar, caffeine, alcohol.
I've changed my shampoo & soap & toothpaste! I'm taking extra protein & eating a high fat, low carb diet (trying to anyway) I'm taking supplements, pragnacare conception, l Argenine, magnesium, and have just ordered CQ10 ubiquinol & DHEA (which are stupidly expensive!) I'm a bit wary of the DHEA, my friend has a friend who had success with it & suggested it, but it has potential side effects (anyone used it?) I'm meditating every day & am going to start womb massage. This might all make me sound really good/obsessive :) but actually I'm usually really disorganised and terrible at sticking to anything! I'm just desperate! This is basically our last chance before it's donor eggs so I'm throwing everything at it! So that's me :) If nothing else I'll probably live forever :)

IvoryCloud · 03/06/2018 10:07

@Windmill, I don't think you would stim after triggering, no.

If I was in your position, I would consider phoning the out of hours number just to reassure myself.

Do you have a number you could call?

IvoryCloud · 03/06/2018 10:36

Hi @Katjoneskins. It sounds like you've been through a lot over the past 5 years. It's tough, isn't it?

I'm 37, also with unexplained (secondary) infertility and also with 5 years ttc behind me following a miscarriage (DH and I were not preventing a pregnancy though not especially actively trying for 2 years before that). So, there are similarities in our situations there.

I recognise myself in some of your other comments, especially the 'desperate'comment. Infertility can be cruel.

Good luck for your cycle with CARE. It feels good to be doing something positive. The way I feel about my IVF is that I'll have success either way - by having a much desired and long awaited second child, or by having closure on this chapter in my life, allowing us both to draw a line and move on.

We've paid for a 3 cycle package though, so it'll be an expensive line!!

Windmill1828 · 03/06/2018 10:39

@IvoryCloud I've only ever been on dosage 225 since Friday and there are two in the Sharp's bin! Maybe she gave me another one just in case as at the time we didn't know if we were going EC or not! X

Windmill1828 · 03/06/2018 10:40

@Katjoneskins you're going everything you possibly can, more than I ever did re. Toothpaste etc!
Good for you! Xx

Katjoneskins · 03/06/2018 10:55

Thanks @ivorycloud, Our situations do sound really similar, it's good to hear from someone in the Same boat. I totally agree with what you said about success either way, I feel like I just want to know I've tried everything so if it doesn't work we can move on. I know women who have never had children & have very fulfilled lives. (We're doing a 3 cycle package too, with the natural cycle, so yes, an expensive line!) Thanks @windmill1828 too, when I wrote down all the things I'm doing/taking I thought 'oh dear love, you've lost the plot' :) it's hilarious really, but it makes me feel better

Katjoneskins · 03/06/2018 10:58

So....off for a run then, followed by meditation and a womb self massage :) rock n roll!
