Looking at potential IVF options and to stay with our current fertility clinic, we’re looking in the region of about £6k for IVF including medication. I have come across ABC in London a few times and I’ve also seen women on ttc/infertility fb groups talking about having their IVF done there.

I understand it’s known as “shoebox” IVF which is why it only costs £2500 including meds, scans etc. Which is amazing to be honest when you don’t have thousands and thousands to spare like we don’t. I was just wondering if anyone on here was considering going, is currently or has been through IVF with them and if they’re worth it? I feel like it may be a “too good to be true” situation but if it’s not, it would really be a step in the right direction for us money-wise

@MrsSharp29

Hi sorry for late reply just on our way back home now,
So yesterday wow there's a lot to take in so I'm please to say after weeks and weeks of panicking crying stupid diets I was way under requirements for bmi they require 30 I am actually 26 🥳🥳
First impressions were amazing right from pressing the door bell to go up to abc fantastic really welcoming,
We made the criteria I went for some bloods taken and hubby has to go back next week for his analysis, we decided to book there and then on the day for our treatment consultation which is.........
18th June I know it's a bit delayed but we have a family holiday and a few other commitments.

Other than that perfect no problems at all dreading the medication side tho lol

@MrsSharp29 best of luck for June!

I had my embryo transfer today. A 3BB blastocyst was transferred. One 4CC blastocyst will be frozen.
Create will phone us tomorrow about the other two and whether they are worth freezing or not?

Ouryear19 · 06/05/2019 17:27

I meant @Sarahloub1 best of luck for June!

Sarahloub1 · 06/05/2019 17:29

@ouryear19
Thank you, never mind us good luck to you both I have everything crossed for you xxx

How are you feeling in general? xxx

MrsSharp29 · 06/05/2019 17:31

@sarahloub1 yay! So glad that Friday went well - I was thinking of you all day. And so glad that your BMI was absolutely fine as well. Fingers crossed between now and then all is well and I’m sure you’re looking forward to June.

@ouryear19 I did wonder when you would have the transfer, but didn’t want to ask - don’t want people thinking I’m too nosey. How are you feeling? It must be a bit surreal? Xx

Ouryear19 · 06/05/2019 17:40

Thanks both. I feel fine, the embryo transfer was really quick today. Had cramping yesterday.

I went for a stroll down the South Bank afterward the transfer. I dont want to be too sedentary. After my first IVF I rested all day. Had some pineapple there. Who knows what works!

MrsSharp29 · 06/05/2019 18:13

@ouryear19 Wow. I’m so pleased for you, glad it all went okay today as well. Let’s hope that all goes according to plan for you. Got all my fingers crossed for you.

If it were me I would be eating pineapple, drinking pineapple juice and doing all the positive thinking that I could possibly do.

Did you rest much after the transfer whilst you were in the clinic? Have they said to carry on as normal the next couple of weeks? Did you see it all happening on screen? So much questions, I’m so sorry!

Sarahloub1 · 06/05/2019 18:27

@MrsSharp29
Awww thank you so much it's so exciting just to book never mind going all the way.

We're just a bit worried about the 4 hours travelling to the clinic and 4 hours back and the hotel stay every time, we looked into trying to do it in the day it just seems too much.

Have you booked you treatment consultation yet?

xxx

Sarahloub1 · 06/05/2019 18:28

@ouryear19

Do they tell you to rest?
I am so excited for you I don't envy you having to wait for 2 weeks tho

xxx

MrsSharp29 · 06/05/2019 18:33

@sarahloub1 I think it’ll be too much to do it all in one day, especially the days where you’ll have to go for your monitoring scans in the morning before the egg transfer etc. London is expensive for hotels, so it might be worth staying just slightly outside then heading in on the trains? I live a 30min train journey away and you can get Travelodges etc around here for £30-£40 a night? Not a dodgy area either 😂

Yes, we have our treatment consultation day on 29th May. A couple of days after we get back from our honeymoon, so hopefully relaxed :) xx

Sarahloub1 · 06/05/2019 18:39

@MrsSharp29

Awwww congratulations 👰🏼🤵🥂🍾

Brilliant I will look into that to be honest I never thought you just think it's in London we need to stay near by I will definitely look now thanks

MrsSharp29 · 06/05/2019 19:02

@sarahloub1 definitely have a look. Especially places like Farnborough or Fleet, Guildford, Reading - they can all get you into central London in 20-30mins. If you want to run an area passed me then feel free xx

Ouryear19 · 06/05/2019 19:52

No rest at the clinic, you basically get up straight away. You are being scanned at the same time so you can see the white dot on the screen going into your uterus. You have a full bladder for the procedure which makes it easier to see. The nurse gives you a little photo of it to take away.

The embyologist then checks the catheter under the microscope to ensure the blastocyst is not still in the catheter!

The nurse instructions - no running or high impact exercise. No baths, no saunas or soaking in pools. Also, do not stand under hot showers for too long. Additionally, they give the standard advice for every pregnant women - no raw meats, soft/runny eggs, pâté, soft cheese, shellfish etc.
You have to obtain from sex as well.

MrsSharp29 · 07/05/2019 20:59

@ouryear19 oh wow - I love how they give you a photo to take away, I did wonder if they did something like that.

How are you feeling today?

I think I will struggle with the whole no bath thing as I do love them! It’s amazing - I hope it all is successful for you. I really do

TryingForMyRainbow · 08/05/2019 13:17

@ouryear19
Best of luck! Please keep us updated xx

Sarahloub1 · 11/05/2019 13:37

Ouryear19 · 11/05/2019 20:20

@Sarahloub1 thanks for asking. I feel fine, my breasts are a bit tender. Could be from the 3 x pessaries I'm using everyday? I felt a bit tired this week, but that might just be from a busy week at work!

Sarahloub1 · 12/05/2019 07:25

@ouryear19

So hubby has just been for his seman analysis now I feel really cringed out he said there was videos and photos on the computer ( I know I'm been really pathetic) but I feel really upset and we haven't spoken since he says he never watched the video but I don't know I feel weird jealous I don't know.
