Looking at potential IVF options and to stay with our current fertility clinic, we’re looking in the region of about £6k for IVF including medication. I have come across ABC in London a few times and I’ve also seen women on ttc/infertility fb groups talking about having their IVF done there.

I understand it’s known as “shoebox” IVF which is why it only costs £2500 including meds, scans etc. Which is amazing to be honest when you don’t have thousands and thousands to spare like we don’t. I was just wondering if anyone on here was considering going, is currently or has been through IVF with them and if they’re worth it? I feel like it may be a “too good to be true” situation but if it’s not, it would really be a step in the right direction for us money-wise

Hi I’m back... sorry just needed a bit of no ivf thinking 🙈 ouryear so sorry to hear it didn’t work but the positive is you got to transfer. I had my appointment and they think it’s my husbands sperm that made none last to day 5. He is taking fertilix and his numbers are getting way better though and he’s an appointment with his gp to see about varicocole surgery to help.
Sorry to hear about the OHSS that must be a nightmare but probably best to be careful x

jojobean84 · 25/03/2019 18:33

@tryingformyrainbow

How did egg collection go?
Hoping you're feeling ok and you're resting up.

TryingForMyRainbow · 25/03/2019 19:39

Good luck for next time I hope it works out for you!! @PBR123

My egg collection went smoothly thanks for asking @jojobean84 I was nervous for no reason! The nurses there were sooo lovely they made me feel so relaxed next thing I know I was being woken and moved to recovery. I had 9 eggs collected and at the moment no sign of OHSS so hoping it stays that way. I will have my frozen after my period. I was told I will have a withdrawal bleed soon and then my period. Anyone know how soon this will be? So eager to get it done 🙈

jojobean84 · 25/03/2019 19:45

That is Fab!
9 eggs is a decent number!!
Hope all 9 are fertilised!
Fingers crossed!

Glad the egg collection went ok! The staff are lovely!

jojobean84 · 26/03/2019 16:30

@tryingformyrainbow
Any updates on your embryo progress?
Do they freeze blastocysts?

Hoping and praying for your success!!

TryingForMyRainbow · 26/03/2019 16:40

@jojobean84
Thanks so much _ I was glad with 9. We got a call yesterday that 8 fertilised and they will update tomorrow (day 3) they will freeze the best one tomorrow and let the rest reach day 5 or 6 and freeze them- really praying we have some blasts! Then just need to wait for period to begin fet process

jojobean84 · 26/03/2019 16:43

8 is Fab!! Well done!!

Hopefully you will have a few to freeze!

Everything crossed!!!
Keep us posted! Share the positive vibes Grin

SolAlii · 26/03/2019 22:23

Do they charge separately for FET?

TryingForMyRainbow · 26/03/2019 23:05

Thanks really hoping and praying everything goes smoothly and can have a success story to share like you! @jojobean84

@SolAlii yes they do although it wasn’t explained properly so it came as a big shock for us. However for now I’m just trying to think and stay positive! When are you starting??

Ouryear19 · 27/03/2019 09:05

Best of luck, I hope it all goes well xxx

TryingForMyRainbow · 30/03/2019 12:21

Just to update you ladies
Out of the 9 eggs
8 fertilised
By day 3 all were excellent and one top grade 8 cell embryo was frozen and I was told the remaining 7 will be left till day 5/6.

Well day 6 I just got the call NONE of those 7 have made it to blastocyst. I am SO gutted and upset! How did that happen

Not even one 😖

I have been told I will have a day 3 frozen transfer now which is my one and only hope!!! Really hope it works😭. Has anyone ever heard of a day 3 frozen transfer being successful?

PBR123 · 30/03/2019 14:14

Hi tryingformyrainbow this is what happened to me but they didn’t freeze any on day 3 so I ended up with nothing. Do you know why they froze one? At my consultation after they thought it was my husbands sperm that didn’t kick in properly after day 3. I was gutted had actually reached the clinic and was outside when they called me.
I have seen a good bit online success with day 3 transfers so you aren’t out of the game yet
Best of luck x

TryingForMyRainbow · 30/03/2019 14:30

@PBR123
Wow I can’t imagine being told once outside the clinic. That must of been so hard. So sorry!

I am not sure why they froze one on day 3 I was told at my egg collection that that will happen. Maybe they know that most of theirs in culture don’t make it to day 5?

Does it mean it’s a sperm issue after day 3 or is yours male related?

I’m just really let down overall and I feel my change of trigger is to blame as I did read online that the buserelin trigger affects egg quality.

jojobean84 · 30/03/2019 15:27

Hi guys
Sorry to hear about your situation
I triggered with ovritrelle.
Do you think your trigger affected the quality?

Keep the hope!!!
That was always my mantra

PBR123 · 30/03/2019 15:40

Yea we have male problem which is why we need the ivf. It’s the egg really that does the work up to day three then the sperm starts to work or something like that. My husband has sperm just poor quality though.
I dont know too much about the trigger injections I’m afraid

TryingForMyRainbow · 30/03/2019 15:41

@jojobean84
Yes I read online that the trigger I used can affect egg quality. Who knows. Mine was initially Ovitrrelle but changed because of the risk of OHSS which is weird as I only got 9 eggs in the end.

Now just have to hope and pray my day 3 is successful! Only does take one so i pray it’s our miracle!

Ripasso · 07/04/2019 08:53

My day three embryo frozen transfer is now 19 months. Hoping you have success as well Flowers

TryingForMyRainbow · 07/04/2019 10:32

@ripasso. Thanks so much for sharing. That really made me happy to hear. Hoping and praying I have the same outcome.

How many cells was yours and what grade .When they thaw did the embryo stay the same. I read they sometime lose a cell or two. Xx

Babymamawanna · 08/04/2019 18:14

@PBR123 hi I just heard my embryo didn't make it to over the weekend too. I was due for transfer today. I'm not with abc I'm with the lister in Chelsea but I'm thinking of switching.
Are you going to try again or rest for a while? I'm not sure what to do xx

SolAlii · 08/04/2019 18:31

Hi,

I’m also with Lister, I have 2 Frozen embryos and plan to do a FET in May. If it’s unsuccessful I’m might consider abc clinic.
How do you find Lister, I’m with Dr Wren, I feel as though there they try and push a bit too much. They insist I should do a embryo glue. I know this has no connection to success rate but they insist I should use it. I’ve tried embro glue in my previous cycles and no success.

Babymamawanna · 08/04/2019 18:38

@SolAlii hi Smile I am with Dr Kahlil I have only seen him once during the whole process! And that was on our initial consultation.
For the amount we pay I was expecting more of a glamorous surrounding! The waiting areas are so busy and dated and the coffee machine is gross.
I know that's not important but having spent so much money and had a disappointing result i feel a little upset.
We had ICSI and out of 8 eggs collected only 1 made it to 3 day then I was expecting transfer today.
I don't have any major issues only endo and a BMI of 33. My partner has low motility hence ICSI I'm waiting for them to book me back in with Dr Khalil to find out what to do next x
I'm at a loss with it all xx

Ouryear19 · 08/04/2019 18:56

Thanks for sharing your good news #Ripasso. Nice to hear positive things.

I've everything crossed for you #tryingformyrainbow.

We are going to have our second round of IVF with Abc in May. They said I couldn't start on my April cycle.

Ouryear19 · 08/04/2019 19:00

Babymamawanna · 08/04/2019 20:11

@Ouryear19 the waiting room looks a lot better than the lister and it's empty! Did you take the photos? X

TryingForMyRainbow · 08/04/2019 22:05

@babymamawanna
ABC is very small though basically 2 rooms where you have your consultation and scans. as it is a satellite clicking to Creat fertility. You have your egg collection and transfer at Create.
Also at ABC there is only nurses, with who you’ll meet.
