IVF September/October 2017

Hi Ladies! Finally I will have my first IVF treatment as soon as my next cycle starts which I expect it to be more or less end of September/beginning of October. My periods are very irregular so I never know exactly. My consultant suggested antagonist protocol which I will receive in post soon. I am extremely excited but then realistic about the fact that it might not be successful first time.

How are you feeling ladies? When are you due to start your Ivf Journey? Fingers crossed for all of us fighters;-)

Minster2012 · 18/10/2017 18:22

I didn't have a period after as I had to go back on my depo straight away & my period never even came back in the interim

Aliona19 · 18/10/2017 18:25

Damn. Hate it when you don’t know when to expect it. Btw no one phoned today 😤

Hardygirl78 · 18/10/2017 18:34

Hello all, lots happening with everyone today. To those of you suffering with OHSS, it sounds rotten and I hope you all feel better soon. I suppose that was one benefit if only producing 2 eggs, a low risk over overstimulation.

I was feeling great yesterday, probably the remains of the painkillers and adrenaline from hearing that my 2 little eggs fertilized. I've felt really rough today though and ended up sleeping for a couple of hours this afternoon with a hot water bottle.

I'm looking forward to transfer tomorrow, it'll be lovely to have one or two little embies on board. I just hope they're still doing ok! I have a feeling the clinic will recommend putting both back in but we'll go with what they feel is best - I have to admit though that I'm freaking slightly at the thought of twins!

Aliona19 · 18/10/2017 19:51

Hardygirl78 Fingers crossed for you tomorrow girl. Twins sounds scary but it’s double the fun 😄 I am just like you. One part of me thinking “it’s so cool if you put 2 in and both will make it” but there is another side says “huh?! Twins? How?! What am I gonna do?!?” It will all fall into place and be perfect ❤️

otters2017 · 18/10/2017 19:55

Quick update - they collected 8 eggs!!! It's amazing given my age and low AMH. predicted 3-4 eggs so am over the moon. Sperm looked ok so we don't need ICSI. Now to wait for the phone call tomorrow.
Feel so tired and a bit achey. Will catch up later xx

Minster2012 · 18/10/2017 20:01

Thanks aliona it's just a bit of a let down after being so geared up for it & everything was going so well & had looked good last week it was like a pin prick in our balloon. But we've rationalised it now & it's a blip. Hopefully if the lining now gets going then it will be 6 days later, so yes not long, but we're just worried about it not responding.

I've given atiks advice so we'll see!

harry the excitement will get you through, do you mind me asking how old you are? Does that make a difference for your clinic on 1vs 2? Ours def prefer single transfer up to 40 & we want single transfer but a lot of places push double transfer over 40 but it does often depend on quality too

Minster2012 · 18/10/2017 20:09

Sorry not harry, I couldn't change page, hardygirl I meant.

We would have loved/love twins but as ours are high quality latest research suggests if you put in 2 high quality or 1 high quality & another then it actually lowers the chance of the other one making it so we thought it might 'waste' one of our only 2 so we'd rather just try one by one & give room to breathe so if one fails we can try again rather than all "eggs in one basket so to speak!"

Twins would be good though, get kids done in once but we also had to consider my friend & twin pregnancies can also lead to harder pregnancies, more time off work, premature babies & long hospital stays. A lot of surrogates won't do 2 embryo transfers due to higher risks for them. Extra things we thought about because it's not my body the embryos would be going into, it's someone else's life /work we are affecting.

Don't forget a blastocyst can also split itself &create identical twins so 2 can become triplets 😱

otters that's great!! Fab news you must be over the moon!!

Aliona19 · 18/10/2017 20:10

Minster2012 Loads of love 😘 I know it’s hatd when things not going the way you planned them, but big guy upstairs knows better. Don’t know if you religious at all, but that’s my way of thinking past few years. Coz I had horrible experiences when I thought “why is this happening to me” and then things worked out and you thinking “oh.. that’s why!!” So take it easy and wait when your perfect moment comes xx ps and it will come

Hardygirl78 · 18/10/2017 20:39

Minster, I know that the delay will feel awful now but better a few more days to wait and have things right.

I'm 39, nearly 40 - I don't know why I think they'll recommend putting both back, I have a vague recollection of reading something on the info board at the clinic while waiting for an appointment.

The reason I'm so nervous about twins is that I've miscarried twice before and the last one looked like it started out as a twin pregnancy with two sacs. In my head I think I'd find a single embryo easier to cope with. That said, after trying for over 4 years I'll take what I can get!

Hardygirl78 · 18/10/2017 20:42

There are quite a few sets of twins on both sides of my family so there is always that chance with one embryo!

Otters, that's brilliant. You must be so pleased. Rest up, you deserve it.

RoseWrites · 18/10/2017 20:49

Hello everyone!

I've been awol for the past week and missed LOADS!

Did I see that there has been at least one more BFP? So exciting:)

So sorry to hear people are feeling crappy :( and that tests, appointments and so on are getting delayed. It's such a bloody long process!

We are now 14 days into the buserelin injections. So at a much earlier point than you guys? So far is been Ok, apart from a few headaches and lots of random bleeding. We go for a scan next week to see how things are going...

My step children are now back out of bed (so much for a relaxing cheeky beer in the bath!) So I better go. Looking forward to being back in the group :)xx

otters2017 · 18/10/2017 21:21

How am I still tired? Wonder if it's still the effects of the GA

Hi rose good luck for your scan next week

harry well done on ET and 2 frosties! Definitely take it easy. When are you testing ?

hardy good luck with the transfer tomorrow. I'm the same age as you and have been discussing at length about one or two but we will be guided by the clinic and obviously on the number of embies we get.

aliona that's frustrating that you didn't get a phone call. Call them tomorrow if you still haven't heard.

minster sorry your friend's lining was good enough to plan for ET yet but hopefully it will pick up. Love that you're getting a new puppy - you'll have to send us a pic!

Minster2012 · 18/10/2017 21:41

Thank you everyone, it's so good to have extra support, my friend & I have been chatting all evening & we've come to peace with it, just a blip and if this is the hard bit that we have to face (as opposed to an embryo not surviving the thaw or not implant or miscarry) then we'll take it!

Hey rose great to have you back! Must be hard bleeding for bits, it's really hard on long protocol I know but keep going!

I'm really sorry for mixing names up, all over the place, harry sticky thoughts, hardy good luck tomorrow, whatever you decide one or two it will be right for you Flowers

This process is full of hard decisions & there are no right or wrong answers so we'll always second guess & over analyse & over think & wonder, it's part of the really hard emotional process I think.

Aliona I really hope you get a good phone call

Elizabeth not been around for a while & I hope you are ok

Aliona - a told u they always "busy" u need chase them lol xxx

Minster2012 · 19/10/2017 09:12

Two results on the 1st that's cool! And less than the 2ww!!

Aliona19 · 19/10/2017 09:18

Atikakck I know 😩 I am going to give them today and if they fail to ring me, I will switch “the grumpy Russian” mode and call them myself 😂

otters2017 · 19/10/2017 13:57

So good news 5 eggs have fertilized! 1 egg was immature so I'm taking it as 5 out of 7 which is great! So pleased and can't quite believe it!! Will know on Sat whether it's a day 3 or day 5 transfer. From what I understand, it's all about selection.

aliona did you call them?

How's everyone else doing today?

Aliona19 · 19/10/2017 14:06

otters2017 hey. I am glad you happy with results. All this waiting game is killing me.
I am just about to find the number to call. But I am sure they ll say something like “we ll ring u back”. Always same story

Aliona19 · 19/10/2017 15:04

So I phoned them and been told that out of 14 fertilised they manage to freeze 6. They said very good 5BB.. but internet doesn’t say that B.B. is very good.. I m confused 🤷‍♀️

Hardygirl78 · 19/10/2017 15:09

Otters, 5 fertilized eggs are fantastic, you must be so pleased.

I have 2 little embryos on board, back in their mummy where they belong. They strongly recommended putting both back in so we went with it.

It's so bizarre though, we were all chatting away about politics of all things while the consultant was putting them in. I got a bit giggly thinking that I wouldn't normally be discussing politics while conceiving!

Minster2012 · 19/10/2017 15:17

🤗Otters 5 brilliant! That's great news! Yay!

Aliona 6 frozen also amazing, I don't know about that grading, I get very confused as no one seems to have the same grading as my clinic (we don't have the BB or +/- so i can't help with that!) so much about this whole thing is confusing & we just have to trust them, but if they are good enough for freezing they are good quality for transferring is what I think

hardy that's fab, but very weird yes to be talking politics whilst trying to make you pregnant, it would usually somewhat spoil the moment!! Unless that's "your thing!" But very much wishing you stickiness and that they nestle in nicely xx

otters2017 · 19/10/2017 15:29

aliona 6 frosties is good!! I'm still new to all this so can't comment on grading but as minster said they wouldn't freeze if it's not good quality

hardy really hope those 2 embies stick in properly and hang on tight ! Best of luck and will be with you on testing day
