Hi Ladies! Finally I will have my first IVF treatment as soon as my next cycle starts which I expect it to be more or less end of September/beginning of October. My periods are very irregular so I never know exactly. My consultant suggested antagonist protocol which I will receive in post soon. I am extremely excited but then realistic about the fact that it might not be successful first time.

How are you feeling ladies? When are you due to start your Ivf Journey? Fingers crossed for all of us fighters;-)

No need to worry Aliona they were all super professional and I did not even know when they actually put the embryo in;-)

Girls, I have a question. Maybe stupid, but I am confused. How long does it take to thaw an embryo?! Like if they defrosted (sounds wrong 😁) one embryo and it didn’t make it, then what? Transfer cancelled? Or they have time to thaw another one? 🤔

Minster2012 · 17/10/2017 19:57

Not stupid at all Aliona, we asked that! So as long as my friend is on course tomorrow in her scan then our FET is next Thursday morning...our embryo/s are both 3 day old high quality 10 cell & 11cell, so they get one embryo out on weds night, thaw it & check it Thursday morning & call us to tell if it's ok or not. If not then cancelled Thursday but get the other out Thursday & try again for Friday is what they told us, so we don't have to go in & wait around & clog up beds & staff I guess, they do it by phone & just cancel it for that day.

Minster2012 · 17/10/2017 19:58

If it is that Thursday then they'll call about 8.30 & it'll be about 11/11.30 ish giving us time to get in

Minster2012 · 17/10/2017 20:00

& filip this may be a stupid question but how come you don't have to wait 2 weeks to test?!!! No fair!!!

Aliona19 · 17/10/2017 20:50

Minster2012 Oh ok. Thanks for that. Was worried they will cancel and then again make me wait weeks and weeks, or what’s worse, thaw much more than one just in case and waste it.
Feeling very meh today, just woke up feeling the biggest depression 😩 must be the storm

Minster2012 · 17/10/2017 21:00

No ours say that's exactly what they don't want to happen, the don't want to waste the opportunity! Which is good, if you have more embryos maybe they can do it later or do it earlier on in the week to give more time/days, but I suppose it also depends if they want to grow it on or not, which we aren't doing & we are definite in only taking one out to thaw, seeing how it does then making decision as we have 2. Whereas we discussed with them if we had higher numbers then other people have thawed 2, picked the best, transferred that or made the decision to transfer both on the day, but we aren't. So all depends on a few things I think, but certainly for ours the cycle isn't cancelled Flowers

otters2017 · 17/10/2017 22:07

filip glad the transfer went well. Good luck for test day!

Hi cakes

aliona sorry you're feeling meh. When's your FET?

minster not long now. Bet you're counting down

Can't believe it's egg collection tomorrow! Eek! Nervous and excited at the same time. Do I need to bring anything with me?

Aliona19 · 17/10/2017 22:29

otters2017 Don’t know yet, tomorrow phone call to see how many good to be frozen. Think will be another 2-2.5 month
What to bring with u? Your partner?) in my case it said slippers and some bathrobe in case it’s cold. Don’t be nervous x good luck

Minster2012 · 18/10/2017 07:17

Morning!

otters they said to me slippers, dressing gown and a snack for afterwards, they gave me a drink & a biscuit but ppl often want more so I took a few bits, that's all I think. Good luck! Let's hope lots of lovely eggs! & take it easy!

aliona today is a brand new (hopefully less windy) day so are you feeling a bit better, more positive?

dinks how's the sloshing? Are you feeling any better? Any more pregnant?

Am feeling positive today, we've got our last scan to check friends lining so we get to see if FET can go ahead next week, then hopefully tomorrow it will be a week, will report back later, & in other news the breeder sent me a pic of our puppy last night & she's beautiful so we get her next week too after the fun (current DDog was lounging upside down on the sofa with muddy paws aloft thinking he's all that) he will not know what's hit him next week when new 'little sis' DPuppy arrives!!

Filipinam · 18/10/2017 07:55

Minster I believe I don't have to wait for exactly 2 weeks because I had a blastocyst transfer on day 5 which limits the time you need to wait for the test day, I also read about it somewhere;-) well I am not complaining;-))))))))))))))))))))))

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 18/10/2017 08:15

No I wouldn't complain either! Much better! Smile

otters2017 · 18/10/2017 09:08

Morning all
Minster2012 hey ) feeling bit better I think. Now stressing out why they not ringing me 🤔 they said to expect cal around Wednesday.. maybe this means they can ring Thursday instead. Hate waiting
I think I am a little mora excited about you getting puppy than I should be 😂

Aliona19 · 18/10/2017 09:19

otters2017 Good luck again. Hope they won’t make you wait. Coz me and another girl were last out of 10 or so. By 11 I was thirsty, I was going in and out the loo just to look at water running from tap 😆 fingers crossed for you

otters2017 · 18/10/2017 09:46

Thanks aliona there's 13 booked today and think I'm somewhere in the middle and they're running late so who knows. DH is having a tea and I'm like I want a drink too!

Minster2012 · 18/10/2017 09:53

otters that's a bugger isn't it, what a ball ache! Hope they don't run too late for you and fingers crossed x

aliona I'm ridiculously excited about puppy but because it's hopefully after ET I'm kind of all focussed on that & because ppl don't know about that they keep saying "aren't you excited, you don't seem it!" But it's because I'm more focussed on potential other baby first, then I will be ridiculously excited & loving the fact I will have a really cute puppy to take my mind off 2ww & be very excited about!! It's all just a bit surreal

dinksandbinks · 18/10/2017 10:13

MORNING

I am WFH today and finally have a chance to catch up! It seems like as soon as I get home from work I just have to sleep.

Right... what have I missed!!

Minster I can't believe the FET might be next week!!! That's come around so quickly. Is your friend feeling a bit better? Good luck for the scan today!!

PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my god I really want a puppy. Well, probably a dog rather than puppy as I have no idea how to bring up pups. But we have two cats and lots of chickens so I think the menagerie is full for now. (Also OH hates dogs.)

Filip yay for your ET!! That's an incredible number of blastocysts!! Are you freezing them all? Plans for a massive family hehe?! I had a 5 day transfer and still needed to wait 2 weeks. I didn't because I developed late onset OHSS and that kind of gave the game away lol. But I guess it depends on everyone's dose for the trigger shot?

Aliona How are you feeling? Are you still suffering with the OHSS? It sucks :( Honestly with the catheter I did not notice a thing. The normal smear test tool thingy is the worst part of the ET, and it's just like a normal smear test. It was over really quickly, though they showed OH everything on the scanner as it was being done and he was asking loads of questions so they were taking their time lol. Thankfully I was also "master of my bladder" (this thread is hilarious!! You ladies are the best) and going to pee after the transfer was sooo enjoyable lol.

I felt really down a few days after my EC; I think I had a bit of a shock about the number of blasts we got in the end, I was fed up of being a beach ball... It is really stressful so it's not surprising you feel a bit down :( I hope you're feeling better? Medicinal chocolate??

Atik Your clinic don't sound like they are very helpful! Is it NHS? Mine don't really discuss things but they gave us a load of booklets and websites to look at. At least we have this thread, and google!

Otters Hi! Probably too late but take some snacks - they'll want you to eat, drink and pee before you go home. And the sandwich I got was not the nicest. Thankfully I brought pretzels with me! Cup of tea was the best though. Also a book, as you may be waiting around, and I took a dressing gown and slippers as I am always freezing. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hardygirl Welcome!! How's it going? Great news about the fertilisation!!! I had two in the end as well, and my clinic literally decided an hour before my transfer which one they were going to use - they gave us a lot of info on the day about the embryos but the decision was theirs rather than ours. They're the experts so I let them choose :)

Harry Hi! Is your ET today? Or was it yesterday? Exciting!!

Scots How are you pet?? Hope the boobs get better!! How are you feeling about the BFP? I am getting lots of cramps, twinges etc. too... the nurse at my clinic said it's normal as your uterus is going through a lot of changes even though the embryo is still tiny. Have you booked a scan? Thinking of you and hope your boobs get better now you're off the pessaries!! I bet that is a blessing!!

Have I got everyone???? I'll go back and check in a minute.

As for me. Good grief OHSS is a total chore. I don't have it as bad as poor Elizabeth (If you're reading, hope you're ok!) as thankfully it is not in my lungs... yet. But I am gaining an extra 300ml of fluid every day, so getting more and more uncomfortable.

Work is so difficult as I'm not unwell as such, I am just really uncomfortable in an office chair, and I look like I'm 6 months already. My friend who is 8 months looks smaller than me!! Trying to wear floaty loose things but I work in a rather corporate office and I think I'm going to have to buy new clothes :(

Also have to watch my diet - limit carbs, no sugar, just water and as much protein as I can eat - awkward as I'm vegetarian. I have to have small, regular mini-meals which is annoying at work - dragging out some baked tofu in a meeting is getting me some funny looks!!

BFP-wise... it still hasn't quite sunk in. And I'm super paranoid. I kind of want to tell my parents, my mum at least, but OH doesn't want us to tell anyone for a few weeks. It pretty much means I'm going to have to be a hermit as it is really bloody obvious that something is going on with my belly. And I don't really have anyone to talk to... THANK HEAVENS FOR YOU GUYS!!!

Symptom wise, I can't tell what is a symptom of pregnancy and what is just the OHSS! Headache, unbelievably tired, slightly nauseous... Also I think I have thrush. Yay.

Anyhoo it's second-breakfast time here and I have rambled enough!!

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone, I'll check back and add soon :) xxx

Aliona19 · 18/10/2017 10:36

otters2017 my other half was sending me pictures of coffee and fry up breakfast! I wanted to murder him 😂
