IVF Cycle buddies March/April

I know we are only partway through February, but I'm down to start our 2nd round of IVF once my period starts at the end of this month, so thought I'd start a cycle buddies thread now as I gear up..!
Our history is that we have a 3.5yo DS, naturally conceived, but have been trying for a sibling for 2 years now... we had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago, but after that nothing... so as I'll be 40 next month, we decided there wasn't time to waste anymore and had all the tests last year but we are 'unexplained'... so we had a cycle of IVF in November/December but sadly was unsuccessful as ended in a chemical pregnancy. So here we go again - fingers crossed it's 2nd time lucky...! If anyone else is starting soon then would be great to have the support! Xx

Hi all - hope everyone is doing ok? I seem to be being effected by the buserelin more than I remember being last time.. I feel pretty low and have a banging headache which I woke up with and can't shift despite drinking tonnes... Sad I'm reluctant to take painkillers, but think I might have to as can't function at moment... arg!

Flowers Hobbes. How many days in are you? Worst for me were days 3-7. I was proper grumpy and the headache was awful. Mood has balanced out again now (I think, although DP may disagree Grin). I find the headache is better if I start the day with a large glass of water before injecting and then keep drinking water throughout the day. On days I manage to do this I seem to have an hour of feeling rough after the jab but then it subsides.

Hobbes39 · 20/03/2017 16:54

Hi Silver - thanks, I'm in that window - day 4 - and I do remember feeling pretty glum last time, but not the headache... (had an awful one first week of taking the pill last time, but not this time tho..) Will try to up water. Have had to take a paracetamol and head does feel better for now... just hate taking anything that may interfere with the drugs working!
I feel for you being on buserelin for weeks - when will you start stimming? I should only be on it for a short while in comparison - i have a scan Thursday and if all quiet down there, I should start stims alongside the buserelin that day, and I remember feeling much better once they started. It amazes me how many different ways there are to do ivf - i think it's good if it was all tailored to the individual, but I'm not convinced as I'm pretty sure I'm on the default for my clinic...

OMG I'm bricking it about tomorrow EC day! Scared about the suppositories too! Soon scared but excited too!

Hobbes39 · 20/03/2017 19:13

Hi Jody - what time are you in? Don't worry too much - for most people it's totally fine, and you get to legitimately binge on Netflix afterwards.. Smile. Good luck - that stage from EC to when they hopefully put an embryo or 2 back in is, in my opinion, the hardest as the stress of waiting to hear about things every day is hard, so be kind to yourself xx

EC booked for 10am so trying to work out what time to leave home, what time to do the diplofenac, set alarm etc... I've booked next 2 weeks off using up all my leave so going to chill at home and destress as much as possible! Really worried about cyclogest never had to do them before!

SilverLinings2014 · 20/03/2017 19:44

Hopefully you'll feel better soon Hobbes. I think I'll be 2 weeks into my next cycle before I start taking the progynova tablets for lining, which could be 7-8 weeks away given my 40+ day cycles. I'm a bit vague on the details to be honest, just know the next step is to call the clinic when my next period starts. Finding the prospect of this dragging out till May really frustrating though. I started my fresh cycle on 1st March 2014 and by the 19th had DD on board, so this feels like a marathon by comparison.

Good luck tomorrow Jody. It's good that you're EC early, less time to sit around worrying about it. Cyclogest are fine but be prepared for some bloating and...erm...leakage. It's basically made of vegetable fat; as it dissolves you absorb the hormone. Best advice I had was to wear a pad and your oldest underwear because it doesn't wash out. Sorry if tmi!

jodybug0908 · 20/03/2017 19:54

No I need advice as it's my first go and I'm petrified! Xx thank you xxx I was wondering about the diplofenac. Says I should take 1hour before we leave but we going much earlier than we need to avoid rush hour. Do u think it's OK to take it 30mins before we go? That's still 3 hours before EC time! It's the little things that panic me haha

bjonesreborn · 20/03/2017 21:01

Good luck jody hope everything will be fine for you and you get lots of eggs

jodybug0908 · 20/03/2017 21:14

Thank you xxx

blackcherries · 20/03/2017 21:27

thanks silver good to know someone's been in the same boat!
I'm feeling better today, probably got transfer tomorrow!
Thinking about it I had a few headaches with the buserelin too - something we all could do without...

don't worry too much jody you'll be fine and just be glad it'll soon be over! Yeah the pessaries are a bit grim in terms of leakage. Fine to use though.

Hope2409 · 20/03/2017 22:34

All the best for EC tomorrow Jody, hope its not too bad and you get lots of eggs! X

Wanda354 · 21/03/2017 06:44

Jody good luck today. DP also has EC at 10am today! Hopefully you both get lots of good eggs and aren't too uncomfortable afterwards. Let us know how you get on.

geeup · 21/03/2017 07:04

Good Jody and to your DP Wanda!!!

SilverLinings2014 · 21/03/2017 08:40

🍀 on Jody and Wanda today.

SilverLinings2014 · 21/03/2017 08:41

To. Not on!

jodybug0908 · 21/03/2017 11:15

Awww bless ya xx they said they got 7 eggs. Is that good? Saw someone got 14! Feeling OK. Bit of backache and mild cramping but nothing too horrific xx thanks for all the encouragement!

geeup · 21/03/2017 11:24

Well done Jody. Not sure there is such a thing as "good" - some people get more of lower quality, some people get less but higher quality - but rest assured it sounds very promising indeed! And not to sound cliched but it only takes one (remind me of that next week!). Good luck with the next 24 hours - let us know how the fertilisation goes!

jodybug0908 · 21/03/2017 12:06

Will do! Got Netflix, takeaways and face pack day planned!

Wanda354 · 21/03/2017 14:11

Well done Jody. DP's also went well and we got 9 eggs! Excited to hear tomorrow how many fertilise.

bjonesreborn · 21/03/2017 14:22

Well done girls, fingers crossed for you both tomorrow.
Day 2 of gonal f much easier (despite an extra injection). just want to fast forward to next week and scans now

SilverLinings2014 · 21/03/2017 16:30

Well don't both. Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow.

Hobbes39 · 21/03/2017 16:39

Well done Jody & to you & DP Wanda - I'd be delighted with 7 or 9! Will be thinking of you tomorrow, as it's a stressful old time, but have everything crossed for you.
I'm still feeling a bit rough, can't wait to start stims now as I'm sure my mood will improve even if with the extra injections! Good news is that I checked with clinic, my gonal f doesn't need refrigerated, so don't need to worry about that one (phew!)
Hope everyone else is doing ok? X

Good news Wanda! And hope you feel better soon hobbes - I know how you feel.
I'm definitely wanting to fast forward to scans now. Already panicking that I'm not responding but trying to stay positive. Been listening to IVF affirmations in the hope of doing something subconsciously!

Wanda354 · 21/03/2017 19:48

Thanks all. There's just so much waiting for the next stage in this process! We're looking at either Fri or Sun for ET and I just want to know which!
