IVF Cycle buddies March/April

I know we are only partway through February, but I'm down to start our 2nd round of IVF once my period starts at the end of this month, so thought I'd start a cycle buddies thread now as I gear up..!
Our history is that we have a 3.5yo DS, naturally conceived, but have been trying for a sibling for 2 years now... we had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago, but after that nothing... so as I'll be 40 next month, we decided there wasn't time to waste anymore and had all the tests last year but we are 'unexplained'... so we had a cycle of IVF in November/December but sadly was unsuccessful as ended in a chemical pregnancy. So here we go again - fingers crossed it's 2nd time lucky...! If anyone else is starting soon then would be great to have the support! Xx

Good luck Jody - let us know how you get on - will keep fingers crossed for you!
I have a quick question - I was on Bemfola last time, but doing gonal F this time. I didn't have to store my Bemfola in the fridge as it just had to be below 18deg, but I think gonal f might have to be in the fridge? Does anyone know? If it does, anyone got any suggestions for what I do for a night away..?! We are having a night away for my birthday a week tomorrow, staying in a small hotel, so I'm not sure if there will be a fridge in the room... do you think it will be ok in a cool bag for one night? Also have to figure out how to hide the others in my fridge as my mum and dad will be staying here that night to look after DS and dog...😳

Heya xx gonal f and the trigger injection should be kept in the fridge xx could u take the ones left in your fridge out and hide in a tupperware box? I would have thought a cool box for one night would be OK. You could ring hotel and ask if there is a minibar in the room?

How is everyone today?
blackcherries did you have your EC
geeup how did your scan go?
welcome crazy, I found buserlin fine - I was scared for the first one but after that ok, the needles aren't that big.
Hello to everyone else I haven't mentioned!
I had my bloods taken this morning at 10.30 and then had to wait till 3.30 for the phonecall. My flat was cleaned to within an inch of its life!! Anyway all is good and I start Gonal-F on Monday. SO relieved to have made it through another stage of this tough process. Have dates for my scans now and a provisional EC date. All becoming very real.

blackcherries · 17/03/2017 16:32

Hi, yes had my EC! It went well and got 16 eggs! But won't hear anything more until tomorrow morning, eek.
Felt a bit achey/sore afterwards, for about 24 hours but fine with paracetamol, just been taking it easy.
Have found the whole thing less stressful than I thought until now (drugs have mainly been fine, felt quite uncomfortable towards the end though and very tired and felt a bit off at times after eating) but I think this is the really stressful bit as it's all totally out of my hands.

Started the dreaded pessaries today!

bjonesreborn · 17/03/2017 16:41

Great news cherries 16 is brilliant! Oh goodness, forgot about the pessaries!!!!

jodybug0908 · 17/03/2017 17:08

Egg collection booked for Tuesday! Using all my holiday to give me 2 weeks off too! Soooooo excited!

geeup · 17/03/2017 18:42

Wow blackcherries - 16 is my dream!! Well done you!
Jones - good news on scan. I had mine too and all good to start menopur tomorrow. Yay.

geeup · 17/03/2017 18:42

And good for you too Jody! So exciting to be that close!

Hobbes39 · 17/03/2017 20:14

Wow blackcherries - 16 is amazing! I hope tomorrow brings good news, sounds promising Smile.
Good luck for your trigger shot Jody - assume that you have it Sunday eve?

Yup 10pm Sunday and a drug free day on Monday! Yay! Dreading the pessaries! Hope it's no worse than a tampon!

Hi there

I know this chat was from February but wondering if anyone has used lubion? After quite a few failed attempts at ivf (mixture of frozen and fresh cycles) we are now on our fourth cycle this time frozen I am on long protocol been injecting already for 6 weeks and finally have the all clear that transfer will be next week so had to start lubion injections but they are MEGA sore it's insane is this normal? Even just to touch the surface of my skin is agonising and I'm pretty used to all the injections now .. please let me know x

Hhno2 · 17/03/2017 20:56

P.s bit new to all this chat stuff but I don't really have anyone else to talk to about all this no one really know we are doing this

geeup · 17/03/2017 21:18

Welcome hhno. Sorry I'm not familiar with that drug as fairly new to this but didn't want to read and run! Hope someone else might know.

Hhno2 · 17/03/2017 21:22

Thanks geeup

This whole process is so long praying it works this time!!

Wanda354 · 18/03/2017 08:03

16 eggs sounds incredible blackcherries, congratulations! My DP had her last scan pre-EC today and there were only 6 follicles looking like they'll be the right size, but loads more much smaller ones.

jodybug good luck for Tues! DP also has her EC on Tues. This is our first time so we don't really know what to expect de how long we'll be there. They've emphasised how she'll need someone to take her home, and I'll be there with her, but we have to go in and out of London for this and I am thinking she won't want to be getting a train back so considering driving instead. Is this a good idea? Not sure how many hours' parking we'll need.

hnno welcome to the thread! Sorry I am a beginner at this so no experience of lubion but am sure someone else will know.

bjonesreborn · 18/03/2017 08:08

Hi Hhno2 I don't know either as I'm quite new to all this too. Hope it gets better for you though. You may be better off starting a new thread about it, maybe reach a wider audience?

jodybug0908 · 18/03/2017 08:17

Heya xx re: driving. Hospital said it's to do with the general anaesthetic. If you yourself aren't going to have one you are OK to take her home. If you both had an anaesthetic then you need a third person to come and take you both. It's the underground that should be avoided in case your you don't feel well and are stuck. We are taking a taxi from guys to Liverpool Street and going home from there. They said this is fine xx

blackcherries · 18/03/2017 09:08

Re driving, I was going to take a taxi home alone but they said I needed accompanying. DH doesn't drive so had quite a few taxi journeys that day as went home in between!

Hobbes39 · 18/03/2017 10:04

Hi HHno - I haven't heard of that drug either I'm afraid - as Jody said it's probably a good idea to start a new post separately to get more views as someone will hopefully see and know more - good luck!
Wanda - I was not too bad re EC - I don't think the process takes that long, but I took a while to come round properly - I was heavily sedated and don't remember a whiny of the actual op, but when I came round, I found being able to hear the nurse and my DH chatting but feeling really v heavy and unable to speak yet a bit odd - so warn her she could fee like a tonne of bricks is pressing down on her, but it wears off! I think I was in for about 1.5 hours after the op, and then felt a bit groggy and tender afterwards, and while I'd have been totally fine getting a train (if it wasn't rush hour), the possible walking at either end would have been bothered me a bit - so depends on whether you have a long walk to the station? If the train is quicker, I'd do it rather than sit in london traffic...! X

A whiny!? Odd autocorrect there! ' a thing'...

jodybug0908 · 18/03/2017 12:04

What should I do with my leftover medications? Did you give them back to the hospital? Xx it's all getting real now!

blackcherries · 19/03/2017 10:56

jody I put some in the sharps box they gave me and gave them to the hospital but I have the nasal sprays still, not sure how to dispose of them.

Just in case it helps anyone, I haven't been too affected by the IVF drugs so far (in terms of side-effects) but am now 3 days post EC and have been feeling a bit crap since EC. Partially achey pain from the surgery, which has mainly gone now, but bloating and mild OHSS symptoms (nothing severe luckily, hope it stays that way) feeling a bit off and look absolutely huge. Got work tomorrow so hoping it won't be too bad but I know it can go on for quite a while.

I am quite slight but had a disproportionately large tummy even before all this began (to the extent I had someone assume I was pregnant) so with this extra bloating (progesterone probably contributes to it too) I look about 7 months pregnant and am even rehearsing what to say if people ask/comment. It's hard that you can't just forget about this whole thing for a bit!

geeup · 19/03/2017 19:54

Hope you feel better soon blackcherries and your tummy deflates.
I'm on day 2 of menopur (2 vials) - what a massive faff!! Buserlin feels like a walk in the park now. Counting down the days till it's just the pessaries to deal with. Had my first proper headache this morning but managed to get 3 litres of water down throughout the day so feeling better now. How's everyone else?

bjonesreborn · 20/03/2017 10:53

Morning everyone. Hope everyone feeling ok.
I started gonal - f this morning. It did hurt a bit but I was so worried about it that I was tense. Going to try and keep drinking lots of water to hopefully keep side effects away.
Hope you're feeling better cherries

SilverLinings2014 · 20/03/2017 11:52

Morning folks. Lots happening here over the weekend. Hope you're feeling better cherries and the OHSS symptoms are now subsiding. I was very similar after EC on my fresh round...ovaries the size of golf balls were visibly protruding and looked 6 months pregnant thanks to the cyclogest pesseries. Lots of rest and lots of water helps though.

Afm, I'm 11 days into down regging on burserelin. Luckily symptoms seem to have subsided and I'm okay as long as I keep my water intake up. Annoying though I've just realised I'll run out; they gave me 3 vials which is 33 days worth. Having told the nurse my cycles are at least 40 days apart I'm pretty peeved they didn't prescribe enough. Not the end of the world but inconvenient having to trek back to the clinic and pay for a second prescription.
