Hello,

Is anyone else about to start a cycle?
I start down regulating on Sunday, estimated embryo transfer week beginning 21st Nov, this will be my first round of IVF/ICSI after 3.5 years trying to concieve.

Mixture of emotions, excited to be starting after waiting so long to get here, nervous about side effects of drugs and injecting and terrified it wont work! The joys of infertility!

Hope that's great news, fingers crossed for lots of fertilisation overnight. I found a hot water bottle really helped after EC

Thanks Custard, Hope & Sara for your replies - was feeling v low this morning and you guys have helped cheer me up. I'm just paranoid given my age that quality will be low, so was hoping for quantity to give me more chance... but I know that's probably daft. Also didn't help that I don't trust the doctor who did the scan... as you say Sara I think some are better than others and she was the doc who only found 7 at my first AFC a couple of months ago, where both other docs since found 13/14, so I'm hoping it's that she's rubbish..!

Hope - 9 is great (id be delighted with that!) well done :) hope the pain isn't too bad and you've been able to rest ok? It's so hard waiting for numbers etc - I think you are doing brilliantly & will keep fingers crossed for tomorrow x

Sara, your scan sounds pretty horrific - while most of the nurses & docs I've seen so far have been lovely, there are a couple who could really use some additional training in bedside manner and dildocam use 😳, hope you are ok? I reckon your other 4 follicles are hiding behind each other, but even if not, 10 is great, so looking good for Friday! X

Have you had E2 bloods? I got mine from today this afternoon - 797, which they said was in middle of range, does anyone know more about e2 levels?
My next scan is on Friday, so drinking milk like a calf at the moment as I heard that's meant to help with follicles and keeping fingers crossed some others appear...!

Hobbes sorry you are feeling low. But it does seem that 24 hours can make a difference in this process and, as Sara said, high follicle numbers don't necessarily correlate with egg numbers/quality.

Hope - sounds like a decent number of eggs. Hope they mix nicely with the sperm!

Sara - that also sounds good. Here's hoping for Friday.

AFM, started centrocide injections this morning and duly broke the needle - oops Don't have a scan until Saturday (9 days after starting stimms) - so bloody hope things are doing what they should be down there.

Had our phone call this moring and of our 9 eggs 7 have fertilised! Really pleased, looking at transfer friday or sunday, they will ring again friday morning.
Not feeling good today, quite sore and bloated and feel really sick, keep rushing to be sick but nothing comes out! Havent made it out of bed yet! Started pessaries today too, not a happy bunny!!!!

loPI well done on starting injections, never mind about the needle! I'm sure things will be doing well, my first stim scan wasnt till day 8 and the time went quite quickly, hope yrs does too xx

Hope those numbers are great! Sorry you were feeling ill this morning, hope you're feeling better now. The pessaries are no big deal really, it's just the progesterone can have side effects (I've been quite lucky just big boobs this time!)

Sorry for flitting in then disappearing. Just caught up on pages of chat and pleased for you hope about your eggs.

Ive been feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all so been trying not to think about it which is hard with being a human pincushion!

I have a question please. I'm on Buserelin atm and I'm in tomorrow for an appointment but I'm not sure if I should inject in the morning or not (yes I should've called but it's only just occurred to me to wonder 😕)

Hi fluffy - are you in for a scan to check you have down regged? If so, yes, take the buserelin tomorrow am as you would be taking it anyway still - they'll just add on the stimms injection to take too if your scan shows you ready for stimming. They will get you to do the first stim injection there and then if it's a go - good luck!

Hope - that's brilliant 7 fertilised - great numbers, I hope the good news keeps coming in the next few days... E2 is estradiol level - I'm not sure what a good level is, but I think more is better..? X

Thanks hobbes just on way back from the Royal now. Had a scan and trial procedure and picked up the stims. Back in next Tuesday. It's all starting to feel a bit real!

Thanks hobbes its obvious now you have said it that E2 is estradiol i don't know much about it but i think your right more is better, as long as it's not crazy high!

Feeling a bit better today, just sore now. Getting nervous about tomorrows call, really hope they are doing well and we get to go to day 5! Can't believe i'm going to be on my 2ww soon!

Wow, everyone is moving on so quickly.

I had a private scan today as I was panicking...and heard the heartbeat.

For the first time I really believed this was happening! Cannot believe it really.

Fluffy - I felt the same last week - it all go v real - sometimes overwhelmingly so, hope you are coping better than me!

I have a scan tomorrow to see how the follicles are growing. Still fighting each morning with the Centrocide needles - finding them as awkward as hell - plus I get a little localised itchy redness after the stabbing. Any one else get this? Also, should I be asking for a trial transfer at some point? Anything else?

LoPI I have heard that Centricide stings but I've never used it myself. Also don't know what a trial transfer is as I've never had that either. Good luck with the scan today.

AFM It's been a really strange few days. Monday was my sons due date, it wasn't sad but very reflective. The weather was atrocious and when we went for a walk after it cleared up a bit, we saw the most amazing rainbow, and thought maybe it's a sign?! I'm glad we decided to go away, this would all be too intense at home. We're in limbo with the 2ww too. I'm desperately symptom spotting but deliberately didn't bring any HPTs with me... so have to wait until we get home.

LoPI I was on centrocide last time and it does really sting, my nurse doesn't like the needles it comes with so gave me some smaller ones to use!

AFM it's my OTD and I had a faint second line this morning! As its faint they want to do bloods tomorrow and Monday to check levels (unless I get a strong positive tomorrow), so I might not know for sure until Monday afternoon, I feel like this is never ending!

hope - how are your little embies doing today? Hope they are all good?

AFM - I'm back from scan and blood test and I am all set up for trigger shot on Sunday eve, egg collection Tuesday. Still only 6 follicles worth counting, so was told that it would be unlikely we will get any to freeze, so fingers crossed that we get one good quality embryo by this time next week as statistically we are probably only going to get one shot with no back ups... which I'm trying to accept and tell myself that it only takes one, but it's hard. None of the nurses of doctors could explain to me why I've not responded better given my decent AMH, I'm just 'unlucky'.

Anyway, Sara - hope you are ok, if egg collection is today, I'm wishing you lots of mature eggs and a speedy recovery.

loPI i didnt have a trial transfer but i did have a vaginal examination done at my first scan to check the angel of my cervix etc.... good luck for yr scan x

Well i have had a day 3 transfer today! They called this morning to say we had one good embryo and another borderline one so they advised a day 3 transfer and putting 2 embryos back. I was extremely nervous about this as the risk of a twin pregnancy worries me but we had a chat with the embryologist and all decided putting 2 back gave us the best chance of achieving a good result, putting 1 back gave us only a small percentage.
So i have 2 on board! They are going to culture the other 5 on as she said u never know they might pick up to have one frozen but we arent holding out too much hope for that. So now the 2ww begins!

lopi sorry you're suffering - I have no experience of what you're having sounds horrible. Maybe you could ask for the different needles as custard did?
blue glad you and Mr blue had this quality time together, your loss is so recent and then you've got all these drugs and hopes to contend with. I really think you're something the way you are handling everything. Thinking of you and your rainbow x

Hobbes it's all so bloody random, I get plenty of eggs but last time all my embryos were duds bar one. I thought this ec would be fewer but better quality but same numbers as failed cycle. I keep hearing that fewer eggs can indicate better quality so keep that faith. Every bit of this is just so bloody scarey.
hope very exciting and I get your trepidation but your odds Ade better now. After my last cycle, I'd love to have two back but my NHS authority only allow one - what difference does it make to them? Thinking of your and your embies. ☺
