Hello,

Is anyone else about to start a cycle?
I start down regulating on Sunday, estimated embryo transfer week beginning 21st Nov, this will be my first round of IVF/ICSI after 3.5 years trying to concieve.

Mixture of emotions, excited to be starting after waiting so long to get here, nervous about side effects of drugs and injecting and terrified it wont work! The joys of infertility!

Sara237 · 16/11/2016 17:16

Hi ladies,
blue it's sounding positive for 5 day blast; I understand how anxious you feel though. But it does appear you got quality over quantity this time. Here's to the weekend!
I had scan today - day 5 of stimming not 8 as I posted before! Have 13 Folly's so far. But I have to start on luveris tomorrow which I've never had before. Eek. Good luck to y'all🌻

Hope2409 · 16/11/2016 21:11

Hello, finally had chance to catch up!

blue that sounds great that your embies are all doing well and they are going for a 5 day transfer, keeping everything crossed for u xxx

sara glad your scan went well, i dont know lots about it but 13 follies sounds good at day 5! Funny how clinics vary isnt it, they wouldnt tell me how many follies i had and im on day 8! What kind of drug is luveris? Ive not heard of that one xx

Sara that's great, good luck with the luveris today

LoPl · 17/11/2016 08:46

Just catching up on last few days.
Blue - sounds like your embryos are all doing well, which is great. Fingers crossed for a top notch quality transfer!
Libertie - that's crap about your cyst. Big hugs.
H2016 - Massive hugs for you too. We're all here for you.
Hobbes - hope scan goes well today. Given that I'm on short protocol I think I might be a day behind you re stimms?? AF showed up late last night, so I'm booking myself in for a scan tomorrow once I get off this chat!!

And... given that we've told no-one what we are going through - anyone got any advice on how to hide injections in my mother in law's fridge when I'm there this weekend. We booked a last minute trip to see OH's parents, as his dad is very ill. This trip also involves a flight - but I'm presuming a get a drs notes for the injections, and pack in a cool bag?

Hobbes39 · 17/11/2016 11:11

Hi all,
Just a quick one to say scan went well - I'm all down regged and so had first stim injection at hospital today.
Lining was 3.8mm, counted 13/14 follicles... not sure if that's all good or bad at this stage?
LoPI - I don't know what drugs you are on but I haven't stored mine in the fridge - buserelin says to store below 25deg and our en-suite is never more than about 17 deg (brrr) so I just have all my drugs etc it in a box in there (which keeps them well away from anyone else!) so you might be able to just keep yours somewhere reasonable cool so no one can find them? X

Blueroses99 · 17/11/2016 13:48

LoPI yay for getting started! The trigger shot (Pregnyl etc) must be stored in the fridge between 2-8C, but everything else can be kept out if it can be kept cool (heating was on so high I kept all of mine in the fridge as I didn't want to risk temp creeping up over 25C). You could pretend they are meds for something else (blood thinner for DVT? although you risk worrying them unnecessarily) or keep it in a make up bag and store in the fridge? I used to keep my contact lenses in the fridge when I was visiting relatives overseas Confused Anyway how long are you going for? Will there be any issue with returning for scans, EC etc?

Hobbes yes that all sounds promising, well done!

Sara great news on your scan and starting luveris (also never heard of it but seems fitting name for a fertility drug!)

H2016 hope you're ok.

Waves to everyone else

AFM I was on standby to go into clinic today so I have no plans. I love to bake but never have enough time so I decided to bake, with beetroot and chocolate. Never baked with beetroot before so not sure whether it'll work! Anything to keep my mind of the embryos...

LoPl · 17/11/2016 14:19

Hobbes I have no idea about lining but follicle count sounds good I reckon... in my totally inexperienced opinion.
Blue enjoy baking. OH once baked me a beetroot cake for my b'day and it was yum! And make-up bag is an awesome idea. Thanks! Coming back Monday, so should be fine for scans next week and beyond.

kezmarie · 17/11/2016 16:11

Hello ladies!
Well that's me all packed and ready for the Big Apple!
Alarm is set for 2am! Hmm

I will be thinking of every single one of you. Hope all stims, scans, tests, egg collections, embryo transfers & POAS tests go ok for you!
I will be back on the 26th November which is my test day!!!

Currently 5dp3dt and feeling relaxed. Will enjoy my trip and face whatever I need to when I'm home.

Ciao for now ladies xxx

Blueroses99 · 17/11/2016 17:16

Kez have a great time in NY!

Hobbes my lining was 4mm when I started stims so about the same as yours.

LoPI hope the weekend is not too stressful for you.

PS not impressed by the beetroot cake but my neighbour seemed to like it!

Custardandcream · 17/11/2016 19:58

LoPI the drugs should be fine in a cool bag for the trip, mine came on a 6 HR car journey with me last cycle.

Hobbes that all sounds good

Kez hope you have a fantastic trip

Sara237 · 17/11/2016 20:06

Hi ladies, luveris is pure leutenising hormone which is supposed to help with the eggs somehow. It has to be mixed up so is bit of FAFF but have read pos things about it so here's hoping. I already feel really bloated which I am of course attributing to all these hormones and nothing to do with the fact I've been stuffing my face this last fortnight!
Lopi- gonal f should be in fridge - like idea of makeup bag or contact solution disguise.
Another scan tom. Tiring but exciting isn't it?
Nearly the weekend x

Sara237 · 17/11/2016 20:47

Hope - yeah clinics all diff. Mine counted Folly's and transferred them to a graph on computer so I can see how many and exact sizes. Basically there us a line they need to reach. Eek!

Blueroses99 · 18/11/2016 09:41

Good luck today Hope and anyone else with a scan today xx

Hope2409 · 18/11/2016 12:47

Hello everyone how r we all doing today?

blue hope yr doing ok x

sara hope yr scan went well today x

Had my Day 10 scan this morning, all looks good, got lots of positive words like brilliant lining thickness, lovely lot of follicles and things r coming along nicely but i'm not sure on my numbers, they said not to get hung up on figures but its all i have to go on! Right side had about 6 good size ones and a few small that will have nothing in, left side about 4 good ones, one is 20mm the rest range between 16 - 17mm some measured under 16mm and they said they would be no good. Waiting on a call this afternoon as to what next, they were thinking EC could be mon or tues but my results need looking at by the consultant at the main clinic as i have my scans done at a satelite clinic.
Had a little cry when i got home as im worried those sizes arent good enough but my DH said im just being silly!

Hope you are definitely doing well, and you have at least another day of stims to go. The trigger shot provides a big boost too xx

Hope2409 · 18/11/2016 15:03

Thanks blue that has made me feel a bit better! Its just so out of our control isnt it and i dont like it! I just want them to call so i can settle, im all restless!!

LoPl · 18/11/2016 16:35

Hi all. Had scan at lunch and all looks good to start. Really similar numbers to you Hobbes - 12/13 follicles in sight. So start Gonal F tonight - which does need to be refrigerated. But, yes, nurse confirmed cool bag will be fine for the flight tomorrow.
Hope - it sounds good, so hang on in there.
Sara - did you have a scan today as well? How did it go?
Blue - shame about the cake. Are you still on standby?

Hope2409 · 18/11/2016 17:21

Just had my call got to go for another scan at the main clinic on sunday so no EC for me yet, i knew my follicles werent big enough x

Blueroses99 · 18/11/2016 17:27

Great news LoPI, hope its not too stressful a weekend for you. When are you back in for a scan?

Did the clinic call yet Hope? I went through a similar thing last time, it wasn't until the Saturday that I would have EC on the Monday rather than the Tuesday.

How did you get on Sara?

I'm booked to go in at 9.45am tomorrow. I have to have a full bladder but last time it was overly full and they asked me to half empty it - which is really awkward! (Sorry TMI)

Hobbes39 · 18/11/2016 17:30

Hope - try not to worry - I'm don't really know much about your stage, but I'm sure the docs are just perfecting the timing and hopefully you'll get lots of nice mature eggs xxx
LoPI - your question about refrigeration me a bit worried now... nothing was mentioned about keeping my stimms drug (Bemfola) in the fridge, but it does say to on the packet- but also says 'store below 25deg' now I know it's def never above 18 deg in the room I'm storing it in, but should I be keeping it in fridge?? Have I f**ked up?Confused the thing is that my DS can open the fridge, plus the kitchen is as far away from our bedroom as can be in our house and so I was storing it near me for the morning, but now I'm worried I should put them all in the fridge? X

Sara237 · 18/11/2016 17:41

Lopi yep had scan - all fine but had crisis of confidence about whole thing on drive home and bit of weeping session. Fine now though! Good luck with the espionage this weekend. I stupidly invited people over forgetting that I now turn the kitchen into a pharmacy at eight each eve. Will have to go and jack up in bathroom!
oh hope I know how you feel its so bloody frustrating but ten follys sounds fine maybe they will just stim upyou a little bit longer before the harvest. I've been emotional too today. Hugs.
blue thinking of you tomorrow x

Sara237 · 18/11/2016 17:42

Sorry hope don't know why stim you turned into stim up you ...😊

Blueroses99 · 18/11/2016 18:06

Sara great that you're still on track, but don't blame you for being emotional. It's such a rollercoaster. What's next for you?

Hobbes if your room is below 25C, it doesn't need to be in the fridge, don't worry. My thermostat is set to 20C but DH turns it up at every possible opportunity while I'm stripping off and opening windows

LoPl · 18/11/2016 18:16

Hobbes I'm no expert, but if it's reassuring I was told very clearly by the nurse, the delivery guy, the notice on the box as well as the Gonal F packaging that it needed refrigerating. If you didn't get this level of instruction re Bemfola then I would think that keeping it cool is enough...
Sara - thanks, that made me laugh. CV skills developed during IVF so far: injection giving, low level espionage....
Blue - good luck tomorrow!
Hope - hugs, here's hoping they have a nice boost over the next couple of days!
