Hello,

Is anyone else about to start a cycle?
I start down regulating on Sunday, estimated embryo transfer week beginning 21st Nov, this will be my first round of IVF/ICSI after 3.5 years trying to concieve.

Mixture of emotions, excited to be starting after waiting so long to get here, nervous about side effects of drugs and injecting and terrified it wont work! The joys of infertility!

Custard yes of course, sorry about that. What do you have planned today?
I'm going back to work today

kezmarie · 11/11/2016 09:22

Just had my call.
All 7 made it overnight, 1 is moving a bit too quick so that one might not be viable but the other 6 are doing good.
She's preliminary booked me in for 11.15 tomorrow morning for transfer, but she will phone again in the morning with another update and if they advise coming in for a 3 day transfer or wait until Monday blast stage.

Custardandcream · 11/11/2016 10:00

Kez that's great! How many will you be having transferred? I'll only be having one.

I feel much better today so think I'll do some baking this afternoon. Hope your feeling better.

Blueroses99 · 11/11/2016 10:02

That's great Kez. If all 6 are doing well tomorrow, they will likely push you to a day 5 transfer instead so they can pick the best of the 6 at blastocyst stage. Be prepared to go in, but also don't worry if you are pushed back.

Hobbes a little leakage is normal and nothing to worry about.

Sara how did your scan go?

LoPl · 11/11/2016 10:53

Hi all.
Kez and Custard - great news on numbers. Hope all continue to develop nicely.
Blue - good luck with scan
Hope and Hobbes - reading your injection posts eagerly. My meds arrive this afternoon, and I have some CDs to watch this weekend before (hopefully) I get started next week.
And to all of you who've already gone through this process - thanks for sharing stories and words of wisdom!

kezmarie · 11/11/2016 11:32

Custard yes just the one embryo being transferred because of my age. If I was older then they would put 2 back.
How you feeling today?

Blue thank you for that, ideally I'd like to leave it to blastocyst stage so they've got more to choose from, but we will see what they say in the morning.

Blueroses99 · 11/11/2016 12:04

Follicles are looking good so I will have egg collection on Monday! They are going to call me later with a time for EC and my trigger shot tomorrow - apparently they schedule them in a certain order, PGS first, then ICSI etc, so they need to see the full list of patients before confirming times. I've had a really long wait unusually, and I'm really late for work. The clinic was so busy today, I think loads of people are trying to get cycles in before Christmas!

H2016 · 11/11/2016 17:51

Hi everyone hope you don't mind me joining. I was wondering if any of you had experienced spotting ? I had this prior to my fet which was on Tuesday 8th November and today got a gush of bright red blood and now nothing. I'm hoping its implantation bleeding but my previous cycle failed which was also a frozen cycle and my fresh cycle resulted in early miscarriage. I'm so scared this time has failed again :(

kezmarie · 11/11/2016 18:12

Blue that's great news! Exciting times.
Ha when I was at the clinic on Wednesday there was new patients phoning up for appointments I presume & the receptionist was telling them there's no new appointments until March now as they're so busy!! Everyone wants summer babies I think ! Grin

H2016 welcome - sorry I can't answer your question about spotting as I haven't got that far, but hopefully one of our other lovely ladies can

Blueroses99 · 11/11/2016 19:35

H2016 you are welcome to join us. I'm sorry I don't know about bleeding at this stage (I had one episode at 8wks in my last pregnancy, it was entirely unexplained and baby was fine so bleeding doesn't always have to be a bad sign). It could be implantation bleeding. It's far too early for your clinic to scan you or check your HCG and progesterone levels to see whether it might be anything else, but perhaps give them a call to let them know and see if they have any advice? I know it's scary but we're here with you on your 2ww.

H2016 · 11/11/2016 20:22

Thank you both for replying. I called them and they are changing me to the injections rather than cyclogest. They think it might be because I'm not getting enough progesterone via the pessary's. However they also said as it is day 3 it may well be implantation. Since the phone call it's stopped so not really sure what's going on :(

Hobbes39 · 11/11/2016 20:34

Hi all
Kez & Custard - all sounding good, hope that good news continues!
Blue - good luck for trigger shot tomorrow, exciting - you are nearly there!
thanks for your replies about the leakage, I think I realise what I did wrong, I was still pinching after putting the needle in, I think when I should have let go before 'plunging'...tomorrow I'll hopefully get it more right..! X

Custardandcream · 11/11/2016 20:46

Blue that's great news, my accupucturist has said she's getting a lot of women who are trying to time a cycle for over Christmas.

H2016 I can't really offer any advice, but your clinic obviously think it's worth switching your meds which is a positive sign. I know it's hard but don't give up hope just yet.

Sara237 · 11/11/2016 20:49

H2016 been reading my info and continuous red blood is the sign of failure - spotting could be implantation but you must be bricking it I really feel for you. Hang on in there. That you've had nothing since sounds hopeful so hopefully injections will settle things down. Thinking of you.
blue that's good news, sounds like all is progressing well. Roll on Monday!
kez bet you've got everything packed for tomorrow! Do not scrimp on the water; I hadn't had enough and my embryo transfer was not optimal. That said with so many you may be Mon. Good luck.
AFM scan went well but last time everything seemed so perfect and it all cane to nothing so trying to keep hope in check. Went to a place yesterday where we went straight after et last time. It was all foggy and beautiful and I felt such a pang of sadness thinking I had that embryo inside me when I was last there. Glad to be stimming at last and having intralipids next week.
Enjoy weekend ladies x

H2016 · 11/11/2016 21:03

Thank you it's just so hard I know you all know how it feels to want a baby more than anything in the world just wish you didn't have to wait so long. Even though it's only two weeks it feels so much longer

H2016 · 11/11/2016 21:04

Sara237 it was only red today the rest of the time was brown spotting which started before the egg transfer so I'm hoping it is to do with the progesterone levels. Fingers crossed

kezmarie · 12/11/2016 07:57

Morning ladies.

Custard let us know how you get on with your call today!!

I'm just preparing to go in for ET, they said they would phone no later than 10.30am and let me know what's happening.

H2016 · 12/11/2016 08:19

Good luck :)

LoPl · 12/11/2016 08:51

Good luck with ET ladies and good news re scan Blue
Hope it all turns out ok H2016 - thinking of you.

Off for a (rainy) weekend away to clear the mind/relax the body, before everything starts next week.

Hope2409 · 12/11/2016 09:18

Good luck today Kez & Custard.

Sara glad you got started on the stims.

H2016 it's great that the clinic acted so quickly. I know it's nerve wracking still.

Hope when is your next scan?

Hi everyone else!

I've got my trigger shot at 8pm tonight as I'm the second patient on Monday at 8.30am. Feeling quite nervous actually.

glasshalfsomething · 12/11/2016 10:50

Exciting kez let us know how it goes!

Good luck blue

-off to catch up on everyone else!

Custardandcream · 12/11/2016 11:07

Kez good luck today

Sara glad your scan went well

Blue good luck with the trigger shot tonight, it's only natural to feel nervous it all suddenly feels very real.

Just spoken to the embryologist and all 8 are doing ok and could all be contenders, they will call on Monday to let me know how many get to blast before the transfer. That bit makes me nervous, I had 4 at this stage last time and got 1 useable blast. I keep trying to tell myself we only need one but I'd really like to have more this time!

kezmarie · 12/11/2016 13:19

Well I got the call at 10.30 and was told I was having 2 embryos transferred today!
They were right on borderline quality to make to blastocyst, and they may not have made it.
So the embryologist suggested transferring the 2 high quality embryos today and 1 frozen!
All we can do now is wait....
Any advice ladies for the dreaded 2ww?

glasshalfsomething · 12/11/2016 15:50

kez here's my top tips for the 2WW

Don't commit to social events. You'll be tired, sore, stressed. Accept it,let in envelope you and embrace sleep!

Netflix. Books. Magazines - you'll need the distraction. Needless to say that every story or song will mention babies. You can't help this

Avoid the internet- or at least avoid google. In the same way googling a sore elbow tells you that you've a rare cancer, googling a cramp will result in the most terrible diagnosis. And it's all bollocks.

Be ready for the hormones. I recommend scheduled cheesy films you know will make you cry to let it all out.

Talk. My Best friend visited for 4 days at the start of mine. She's 6months pregnant and was happy to insult me mentioning it every 30 minutes. Prepare your partner to accept this, as it will be on your mind 24/7.

Try not to test early. I did, but I don't think it helped relax me anyway.

It is bearable, you'll get through it and you've got a lovely bunch of peeps here who can distract you any time!
