Blastocysts

Willow21 · 08/08/2016 20:41

EC Fri:
21 eggs
18 mature (ICSI)
14 fertilised

Report today :
2 good quality day 3 embryos frozen BUT then told that the remaining 12 are not looking good. Some slow. Some fragmented. Told not to get hopes up or expect and day5/6 embryos frozen :(

Realistically is there any chance with a day 3 FET ? We so wanted to have some blastocysts (or even just one) for future FET.
It sounded v positive when all 14 had obviously made it to day 3 but actually it sounds like 12 of those 14 are duds?
Any stories of hope out there?

:(

SuziC1984 · 10/08/2016 15:07

I didn't get a choice in that they gave me medicine, 3x peseries a day and 4 HRT tablets....

SuziC1984 · 10/08/2016 15:23

Although i hated the injections too, this medicine is ruining my skin! :-/ are you doing any diet type stuff to assist? I've read mixed things...

LHReturns · 10/08/2016 15:25

Willow I am hoping to start my first fresh cycle in about three weeks times. I did a (not very successful) frozen round as a test last March. Got one (1 day) in the freezer.

I would love to be a September transfer buddy with you!

I am 40 though with low AMH though so it may take me a while! I have one naturally conceived two year old.

Well done on your fantastic result today!!

SuziC1984 · 10/08/2016 16:28

LH what's AMH? Good luck!

Marybird · 10/08/2016 16:36

Good luck LHReturns!

Suzi - not really...Are you? I eat healthily anyway. I recently met a couple who are expecting twins via ICSI (it was their second round). The first round - they did everything by the book and mapped out a diet etc and she didn't get pregnant. The second time, she ate what she wanted, had the odd glass of wine etc and it worked! I've taken quite a lot from them. I think if its going to work then it will, regardless whether I have eat handfuls of Brasil nuts and pineapples! :) x

SuziC1984 · 10/08/2016 16:43

The first time we did it we were perfect example of the couple for ICIS treatment and it didn't work, this time it's ages later, I've out weight on and decided I'll do what ever as I'm sure it'll either work it or not the same...although I did buy some pineapple however, I do like it! I'm
Just keeping fingers crossed!

Willow21 · 10/08/2016 16:48

Sounds like a plan LH !

SuziC1984 · 10/08/2016 17:03

I wish I'd known about this sooner, I think it's lovely to go through it with someone! Hope for good results for you both!

LHReturns · 10/08/2016 18:21

Hello new IVF friends!

Suzi I am here crossing all my fingers for you - and feeling envious that you are a min ahead! Keep talking to us here!

AMH is anti-mullerian hormone and AMH blood levels are thought to reflect the size of the remaining egg supply - or "ovarian reserve".

I am old and mine is low so some people would say I am stuffed. I posted a long message on the Endometrium Lining thread earlier today if you want to know my situation in more detail. Bananafish who posts across all these threads is an enormous source of information and confidence.

I am very excited to get this going again, and try for my second baby as a geriatric mummy!!

LHReturns · 10/08/2016 18:24

Btw while I do take folic acid and Ubiquinol and omega oils etc, I eat and drink entirely as I please. I do not believe that diet and moderate alcohol intake has the slightest impact. But I have a son so easy for me to say.

Marybird · 11/08/2016 18:35

Thanks LHReturns - this is really helpful :) Good luck xx

SuziC1984 · 12/08/2016 07:30

Morning Ladies, this morning I woke up feeling like I've got a hangover, (which I haven't) I'm 3dp5dt now and so a week away from when I'm told I can test, I'm desperately hoping all is well. I've got 2 weddings this weekend and wanted to wear a loner to help draw in my tummy but I'm not not that's a good idea? What do you all think? Xx

Marybird · 12/08/2016 10:11

It's probably the progesterone? I feel hungover every day too...and my thirst cannot be quenched! Though my transfer isn't until tomorrow.

What you wear won't make a difference btw, though I'm not sure what a loner is? If it's a spanx style thing then I'm sure it won't hurt; but if its going to worry you, leave it behind. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable, and it's hot this weekend! You must make sure that you take things easy at the weddings and sit as much as you can- they're so tiring. Good luck! X

LHReturns · 12/08/2016 10:26

I agree entirely with Marybird - wearing a Spanx or control thing won't make any difference.

Reading every day to hear your updates! I get back to London on Monday from holiday - got a few update tests to gr done next week (smear etc),

GinIceAndASlice · 12/08/2016 10:27

Hi just popping in to say good luck and not to get too hung up on the quality.

My first fresh IVF with 2 perfect embryos wasn't successful.

I went through frozen transfer with 2 okish embryos and ended up with DD.

We wanted to try for a sibling so used the last 2 "snow babies" who had been frozen on day 2 and basically they were bit dodgy when they started to defrost and had in equal cell division...one had 5 cell the other had had fragmentation.... I ended up with twins!

So basically ranking them in terms of quality the worst did best!

Fingers crossed for you all x

LHReturns · 12/08/2016 10:27

Hit send too soon - got a few tests to get done next week.

Then see my Lister consultant on 23 August to agree my drug regimen, and hopefully will be starting stims the week after Bank Holiday! Getting nervous and also excited and impatient.

GinIceAndASlice · 12/08/2016 10:29

*Should say unequal cell division

LHReturns · 12/08/2016 10:30

Oh GinIce I love that story!! At age 40 and low AMH I fully expect to have few embryos so will likely need to transfer earlier than 5 days. So I am trying very hard not to get hung up on blasts etc. Your story perks me right up!

Marybird · 12/08/2016 10:51

That's amazing GinIceandaSlice!! I feel so happy after reading your story!

And LHReturns- I didn't get many eggs and they nearly cancelled my cycle (I'm 28 with no fertility issues) yet a 43 year old from my clinic had low AMH and got much more- she's also now pregnant. Keep the faith :) You only need one xx

SuziC1984 · 15/08/2016 07:11

I just went in a dress, tried to do as little as possible although did dance a small amount. I'm feeling really negative as yesterday I had some blood when using the progesterone by it was a very small amount, last time I had more and it didn't work and I'm just worried this is going to be the same....Thursday feels ages away and I'm shattered due to weddings/not sleeping very well but after Wednesday I'm off for a week so have time for some R&R regardless the outcome....trying to stay positive....hope you're all ok! Xx

Marybird · 15/08/2016 20:52

Hi Suzi, I wish I could say something to help you to feel more positive...it's so tough isn't it? But you are soooo close to finding out whether its worked. I think you've made a great call taking the week off after. This way, you can celebrate or get reallllllly drunk (what I plan to do if it all fails).
I had my transfer on Saturday morning, so I am now you (last week). It's terrifying. I feel like a china doll...well, a really bloated, ugly, spotty one. I hung out the washing today and was immediately stressed about whether the laundry basket was too heavy to move! I don't know why, but I have such a feeling that this round wont work. It seems so cruel that we have to wait two weeks to test.
Anyway, sending you lots of luck- keep messaging if you're going crazy with the stress of it all xx

SuziC1984 · 15/08/2016 21:57

Thanks Marybird, my DH seems
Sure this has worked but I'm just concerned if that's not the case, I'm more desperate than I realised and just want the wait to be done now! Today I saw a girl on a Facebook forum at 6sp5dt and she had a positive test, I'm too scared to do that so am
Waiting it out and praying for the best! Hope you feel better soon and that in a couple of weeks we'll both have the results we're hoping for! Come
On embryos!! Xxx

Marybird · 16/08/2016 19:06

I'm not planning on testing until the date they gave. My friend just freaked me out by telling me so many people get a false negative for weeks...what if that happens for us?! I'm a bit clueless re-preg testing as I have actually never done one. Depressing, I know.
I'm feeling so low today, I cried all morning. I know I need to stay positive, but its so difficult to! Hope you had a better day today. Come on embryos :) x

SuziC1984 · 17/08/2016 17:07

I replied last night but I think I pressed preview rather than post! I'm
Feeling so sick now knowing that I'm finishing work and tomorrow will find out what's happened....I could cry, pleased with my Husband to let me test early but he was having none of it! I'm off for a few days now though so either way can get my head around the next steps....how long have you got left to wait? Xx
