Cycle buddies Aug/Sept 2016

Anyone just starting a cycle or about to?

I've just got the dates through for my first FET to TTC#2. My first LO is 18 months and was made with the help of ICSI and IVF. I start down regulating in a few weeks.

I've already gone through various emotions and I know there are a lot more to come! Anxiety and indecision wondering how I will cope with a second child if we're that lucky and the possible age gap. Sadness that my clinic told me I had to wean DD1 from the breast. Guilt at thinking about another and no longer 100% about her. (Especially if I weaned her and it doesn't work). Stupid thoughts that led me to test without telling DH when my second postpartum period (after weaning) didn't show on time (only spotting, false hope that it was implantation bleed. It's nearly impossible for us to conceive naturally though. AF came this weekend so here I am). Scared that it won't work. The stats are lower for FET and we only have 2 frosties.

The first injection will be at the end of a family holiday. I probably won't be drinking but don't really want to tell them why not yet. Despite all this I am excited too!

Anyone want to join me as cycle buddies?Smile

Hello everyone - happy Monday! (You won't hear me say that often...)

Kicking off this week with some positive news, my appointment this morning went really well and I'm starting Clomid in 10 days Smile So I will be entering the scary world of the tww very soon. This is exactly what I was hoping for so overall very happy!
Btw Fcuk your comment on paracetamol made me laugh - this is exactly it, I'm not taking anything for the pain... not risking it!!! Grin

Keeping everything x for our group this week, hope everything goes well!!!

xx

Goodthingscome2those · 26/09/2016 13:54

Tata - really pleased for you, what is clomid? Sorry only know about the drugs I'm on. How did you find it up on the 11th floor?

Elle's - how did your scan go? Keeping everything crossed for you.

Xxx

tatatetelle · 26/09/2016 15:26

Hi Goodthings, sorry I'm too close to this and forget not everyone is! Clomid is a drug they commonly give women who have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) - basically I produce follicles, but they don't ripen so I don't ovulate (i.e. not had AF since March).
So I have some progesterone to take to induce period and then Clomid will help with the ovulation and hopefully I can get pregnant naturally. They track everything closely with a scan / cycle to make sure I don't have more than 3 follicles ready to pop.

Yes St Guys' ACU is lovely and you're right everyone is super nice! Obviously on the way out I had to stop at their wall of baby pictures and cards, I may or may not have left with a grin on my face Grin

Goodthingscome2those · 26/09/2016 15:34

Oh ok thanks for explanation, that sounds perfect, keeping everything crossed it works for you.

I'm in there tomorrow for scan to see if I can start stimms Confused, I've not noticed the photos but will look out for that now! Xxx

HelloMist · 26/09/2016 15:51

Hi, sorry for silence for a few days.

Mostly OK. Having a few ups and downs still. Added arguments with DH (stress getting to us maybe) and I've got a cold too. Thanks Tata, found a compromise for now by asking a friend if she can walk with me sometimes! (I need to walk after using crinone - progesterone pessary - in the evenings). She knows I'm doing treatment but doesn't ask/pry more than I'm happy to say. It was just nice to have the company and indirect support. Sort of wish I had someone to be in the room with me tomorrow though! (DD can't go in so DH will be in waiting room or outside with her, we don't have anyone to look after her).

A good number of follicles, Elles! That's great :)

Fcuk, my DD was through ICSI, but it was our only option. I'm obviously very glad of its existence!! There is some information out there saying it has a possible downside too. It hasn't been carried out for as long as regular IVF so there is less knowledge about its risks. (www.hfea.gov.uk/icsi-risks.html explains it better than I can). Our DD is healthy though!

Tata, yay, glad you are starting on clomid so soon! Hope you get on better with it than Fcuk. Good that you can start without more invasive treatment and see how you get on.

Goodthings, good luck for scan tomorrow. I was still bleeding for one, try not to worry (at least it should be lighter by now!).

How was your scan Elles?

Good luck for anyone else needing it these next few days. xx

Thanks Mist! I'm so glad you've got someone IRL to open up to as much as you need. I'm sorry you're having tensions with DH, definitely keeping things between just you two can be difficult (I know it is in my home) so I hope you'll both find some relief. Good luck tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you, let us know how it goes xx

Goodthings thanks lovely, yes check out the wall on the way out - half of the pictures are of twins, that made me laugh (and secretly a bit scared!!) Grin

ellesbellesxxx · 26/09/2016 19:47

Hello lovelies! Thanks for all your kind wishes.

Tata that is a great outcome for today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant :) To have a plan of action is perfect! So so pleased for you!XX

Goodthings - keeping fingers x for tomorrow for you!!!! Let us know???xx

Mist - ahh sorry you are not feeling well...really pleased you have a friend to chat to. Will be thinking of you tomorrow - and keeping everything x!!!!!!

FCUK - one more week to go!

Hope everyone else doing ok!

AFM, had my scan first thing - and we are good to go! I just did my trigger injection ready for...WEDNESDAY morning!!!! A few more follies had sprung up over weekend but would be too small... however, some were in the 20mm range and some just below - I asked if trigger would mean they would continue to grow and she said a little so we shall see!
She thought I should get 5 (which I am happy with but would obviously love more!)
So we have booked in for a b and b night before as otherwise would be a VERY early morning and we obviously can't risk missing apt!!
They were very thorough - they were concerned that I might be hyper stimulated (fluid was back and my ovaries were "kissing"?!?!) So wrote a prescription that if I was I could get tonight - but when they called, they said levels were fine - phew!!!!

Sooo... keep me updated y'all????? I will be back soon!!!!! XXX

Fcukthetww · 26/09/2016 21:13

Hello all,

Elles, Tata- amazing news both of you! Things are getting exciting now!

HelloMist, I'm kinda hoping that the consultant will suggest ICSI just because of the success rates, seems a lot higher than say IVF but I don't know if we'll get any choice in the matter (and I will accept whatever help is offered so please don't think I'm ungrateful). Will be thinking of you tomorrow!

Goodthings, good luck for tomorrow and hopefully you can start with the stimms soon.

No news from me. Just marking days till my appointment xx

tatatetelle · 27/09/2016 11:58

Thank you Fcuk and Elles xxx I'm pleased, let's see how this all work I'll let you know.

Fcuk, not long to go until your appt now! Yesterday the doc I saw went through the different options and what if Clomid didn't agree with me, and she mentioned an alternative drug. I'm sorry I can't remember the name but hopefully that one will agree with you more Smile

Elles I'm soooo pleased for you!! Wednesday is like so SOON!!!
Goodthings fingers x you can start stimms next week, hopefully these headaches are getting better xx

Mist thinking of you, I hope everything is going well today Flowers

Hope everyone else is alright xx

Goodthingscome2those · 27/09/2016 14:21

Elle's - OMG so excited for you for tomorrow it seems to of come together all of a sudden, hope you're feeling ok about tomorrow, wishing you lots of luck.

Mist - hope all went well today and you're feeling ok?

AFM: just had scan and all was looking ok, she said I had 6 on each side, not sure if that's good or bad? Starting stimms tonight but didn't realise I'd have to continue with suprecur too (at a lower dose). Booked in for scan next Wednesday and if everything goes well could have egg collection as early as next Friday or early part of the following week! Eek it's getting exciting now, really hoping for great positive outcomes in our little group over upcoming weeks. Xx

ellesbellesxxx · 27/09/2016 15:05

Hi all!

Goodthings - that's great news! Yes I had to keep sniffing up until last night - to suppress ovulation. Today is a drug free day - amazing to have any alarms going off!!! I would be delighted with 6 on each side! That's great news!!!!! (I had 6 in total at Christmas!!!!)

Thanks Tata - hope you are still feeling really good and positive :)

FCUK - I totally know the feeling about marking days! 6 days to go for you now!!!!

Mist how did today go?

How is everyone else?XXX

HelloMist · 27/09/2016 15:53

Well I am PUPO! StarSmile Was nervously waiting and hoping the phone didn't ring up until just before the appointment (in case they didn't thaw) so I feel very happy and lucky to get this far. Staff in the theatre were lovely (I was alone). Now onto the 2ww...

Goodthings, sounds like a good number to me Smile and not enough to indicate you're at risk of hyperstimulation. Cheering you and your follies on!

Sounds like it's going well so far Elles. Good luck with EC tomorrow!

Fcukthetww · 27/09/2016 18:48

Amazing news Mist! Keeping everything crossed for a bfp! And thanks for the ICSI link. Think we need to have a good chat with the consultant about our options.

Goodthings, 6 each side is so good! Well done you.

Elles, Tata- keep us all updated! I'm so encouraged by everyone's progress these last few weeks and loving hearing everyone's updates xx

ellesbellesxxx · 28/09/2016 15:46

Did you have much pain? Xx

HelloMist · 28/09/2016 15:59

Thank you everyone! Was happy at first, then overthinking last night and now back to feeling OK and getting on with things. :) Official test day is next Thursday.

ellesbellesxxx · 28/09/2016 17:21

Ahh thanks!!!

Goodthings.. uncomfortable rather than too much pain... Really tired but think that didn't sleep particularly well! Not long and it will be your turn!

Mist.. Totally know what you mean about overthinking. Apparently when they were wheeling me to recovery (I have no recollection of this) but I was talking away (not sure I made sense!)and I dread to think what about... Prob all my fears and "come on eggs!" have you plans to keep busy in next two weeks before test date? Xxx

HelloMist · 28/09/2016 17:36

Only a normalish routine with DD (and my husband when he's at home). Will try to avoid anything too strenuous but still need to get out of the house with her when possible. My test date is actually only 9 days from transfer thankfully! (long enough!)

lol! were you sedated for egg collection?

OP posts:
ellesbellesxxx · 28/09/2016 17:45

Oh of course.. As its a blastocyst I guess so already 5 days! Yes, I can imagine that will feel long Confused good plan to chill where possible xx

Mist, Elles, Goodthings, everyone snuggle up as much as you can and look after yourselves!!! xx

Goodthings... How was first stab?

Xxx

Goodthingscome2those · 28/09/2016 19:49

Have fun tata!

Elle's - it wasn't as bad as I was expecting just the needle seemed much longer than my d/r ones so I panicked. Two down now!
