Did my first needle tonight was so nervous was about to inject myself when I dropped the needle, had to get it ready again, then I just paused when I had to inject myself hovering the needle over my stomach, I couldn't mentally do it, it was like being in a dream where you cant run any faster, I held my breath and did it, I didnt feel a thing, not even when I pushed the liquid in. Will keep posting how it all goes, would love to hear from other people..

bananafish81 · 27/05/2016 11:44

I felt very periody Smurfy - and turned out to be a good sign!

Got the call from the love lab: 22 out of the 28 eggs were mature, of which 19 fertilised overnight. Phew.

Smurfy1981 · 27/05/2016 13:03

Thanku bananafish, wow thats fantastic, how are u feeling today after op x

bananafish81 · 29/05/2016 12:30

Thanks smurfy. Feel absolutely fine - amazingly. Bit bloated but nothing horrific - and not especially sore or anything. Tbh don't feel any different post EC with 28 eggs than I did first time with 7 and second time with 17. Although the day before EC I felt bloody awful - queasy, ovaries like footballs, just wanted those eggs OUTTA me. And feeling much much better for it!

Thinking of you bean

Hugs to Hyland and smurfy - hope you have some nice bank hol weekend plans to keep you suitably distracted

Smurfy1981 · 29/05/2016 18:10

Anybody else justs want to eat????! 😳

Hyland · 30/05/2016 22:27

Well done Smurfy on getting a bonus frozen as well. Hopefully you wont need it.

Good luck for tomorrow Bananafish.

We got two frozen blast, the quality grade isnt all that. Which is what happened last time. One is a day 6 blast and one wasa day 5 blastbut for some reason they didnt freeze it straight away!!! Anyway so on day 6 when they did freeze it, it was an almost hatching Blast.

We went to see a film in 4DX with friends. We were both totally oblivious to all the vibrating and shaking. My partner said as soon as the warning script came up on the screen he had regretted booking the tickets. I told him that it hadn't occurred to me either until we were there. On the other hand, it cant be any different to the ride on the country roads where we live.

Tomorrow will be 6dp the 5dt and It is so tempting to test. Seeing as i beliveve the trigger injection should no long give a false positive reading.

Really hoping the scratch will work its magic.

Smurfy1981 · 31/05/2016 07:28

Hyland- i go to get my bloods done tomorrow- and have been REALLY patient and not done an hpt! This is my 10dp 3dt!!

Hyland · 31/05/2016 10:59

Smurfy: Wish you all the luck, hopefully you can start the positive trend.

Bananafish: good luck to you as well.

Hi ladies. I was given my buserelin yesterday so I can start injecting on the 13th. I was very nervous about injecting myself, and even though I did it a few times to practice with the nurse I'm still not sure I can go ahead on the first say. Did anyone else feel this nervous? Please tell me I'm not the only one and you managed fine!

Hyland · 01/06/2016 09:42

Hi Drinkyourmilk,

First injection is always the worse, just take it slow and you will be a pro before you know it.

Are you scared of needles or are you just dubious about injecting yourself because it isn't exactly the norm.

That first one makes it all suddenly so real. At least it is a step in the right direction.

What is your story, age, how long you have been trying, any problems or issues they have discovered, clinic in London? ivf or icsi?

Smurfy1981 · 01/06/2016 09:50

Hi drinkyourmilk
I had a nurse freind do my first one, then she came back the next day and supervised me do it myself- i was really nervous as i hate needles- but i promise you its easy once u get into it x

Hyland · 01/06/2016 12:35

When do you get your result Smurfy?

Smurfy1981 · 01/06/2016 13:04

OMG its positive 😂😂

Smurfy1981 · 01/06/2016 13:05

Sorry hyland just seen ur msg after i had written that- i phoned at 12.30- i couldnt wait any longer!

Hyland · 01/06/2016 13:24

Congratulations Smurfy thrilled for you both.

Smurfy1981 · 01/06/2016 13:52

Thankyou, go back on 22nd june for 7 week scan- my head is minced!! I have my fingers and toes crossed for you all xxx 😘

drinkyourmilk · 01/06/2016 19:02

Firstly - smurfy congratulations! What fantastic news!

Me- I'm 39. Never used contraception with my husband, so it's over 10 years and nothing.
No reason for it, our tests show we are Mr and Mrs average. I'm at the Nuffield in Woking. Planned ivf, but if the swimmers are shy on the day they will get consent from us to do icsi. I'm not good with needles at all (though happy to inject others ShockGrin)

drinkyourmilk · 01/06/2016 19:06

Forgot to say it's the fear of pain that makes me so nervous. Nurse at clinic suggested ice to the skin beforehand or my husband (bless his understanding cotton socks) has offered to get me some magic spray Grin.
I'm just a big wuss. Nurse gave us extra needles so I can keep practicing to try and ease my nerves before it counts.

bananafish81 · 01/06/2016 19:47

smurfy congratulations!! Absolutely wonderful news - chuffed to bits for you. Hope the 3ww till the scan flies by!

drink - welcome! The thought of the injections is way worst than actually doing them. Once you've done the first couple you'll feel like a total pro and properly nails with your stabbing prowess Grin

Hyland how are you doing? When is OTD and when do you think you're going to cave? Wink Terrific news about your frostie as well, everything crossable crossed for you

Big hugs to bean - thinking of you

So, after two nerve wracking days of waiting for calls, the final tally is in for our embryos

We have a grand total of 12 blasts for PGS testing!

From this fresh cycle, we ended up with 9 good blasts that were suitable for biopsy and freezing.

Of our 4 frosties, 3 of them were able to be biopsied. Although the fourth did thaw, it didn’t successfully re-expand and progress to hatching blast stage, and therefore wasn’t suitable for biopsy.

The results take 2 weeks. Eep.

I'll have a clearer idea of next steps when I see the consultant next - I'm to call up when I get my period (in a week or so) and will go in for a baseline scan 2/3 days later - FET timing will depend on if my lining has shed properly and if my massive ovaries have gone down (as well as the PGS results when they're back).

Hyland · 02/06/2016 09:43

8dp 5dt (8 days have passed since my 5 day transfer of my 2 blast).

My OTD (official test day) isn't until Sunday 5th.

So Sunday will be 11dp on top of the 5dt = 16 days seems longer than what everyone else is told to wait!

BANANAFISH You got 9 blast from the 28 eggs is that correct? & good quality, nice result!

DRINKYOURMILK what is your amh?

Hyland · 02/06/2016 09:46

Keep us posted Smurfy!

bananafish81 · 02/06/2016 13:39

Hyland my Dr told me 12dp5dt - which was a ridiculously long time, equivalent to 17 dpo

I reckon he just said that late so that when we caved early we were actually testing at a reasonable time

I was going to test at 9 or 10dp5dt, but caved at 8dp5dt, on what was supposed to be a BFN practice run, but then got a helluva surprise when the second line came up

And yes 28 eggs, 22 mature, 19 fertilised, 11 made it to blast but 9 were good enough quality to biopsy and freeze

'quality' doesn't mean anything though, as the prettiest and supposedly best quality embryos can be chromosomally abnormal, and the supposedly poor quality ones can be genetically perfect

So 'good quality' remains to be seen - will see what the PGS results come back with

Hyland · 02/06/2016 14:16

Bananafish ha ha you are making me feel very tempted to test tomorrow lol I would need to buy another test in secret lol

I've not really had any symptoms though.

Hyland · 02/06/2016 14:31

Have you heard anything about an embryo dividing to 3 cells.

The Embryologist said that even though one of the eggs reached a blast. During development it divided into 3 cells, which he felt was less likely to implant. I cant find anything on the internet to support this! He said if it implanted it would still be a normal baby but just less likely to implant. Which is why we chose 2 different blast to transfer and froze the blast that divided to 3 cells previously as a back up.
