Hi can I join? Just had ET today collected 10 eggs. Having icsi so will find out tomorrow how many (if anyConfused) fertilise. Feeling pretty positive though which is good as I've had o many set backs. Any advice etc welcome Smile

Lynn5 · 17/09/2015 18:57

Egg collection i mean Blush

purplemeggie · 17/09/2015 18:58

Hi Lynn - course you can join Smile. Congratulations on your 10 eggs, that's a pretty impressive crop! Is this your first cycle?

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 17/09/2015 21:23

Hi Lynn5 - wow, that is indeed impressive! You're obviously a lot further on than I but I now have something/one to aspire to :)

Have been on MN for quite a few years, since DD was little - can't think of anywhere better to lean on throughout this journey.

JessieMcJessie · 17/09/2015 22:28

BFN on an FRER today (10 dp 3dt). All hope gone. Back to the drawing board.

CatnipMouse · 17/09/2015 23:09

Shit Jessie I'm sorry x

IcsiWitsyBabyPlsGetUpMySpout · 17/09/2015 23:12

Shit isn't it Jessie, hope you're OK. I've had heavy bleeding today at 8dp5dt (gone through three tampons) and a BFN on an IC. Anyone know how long you have to wait to cycle again?

CatnipMouse · 17/09/2015 23:33

Sorry for you too Icsi, it's so shit xx

The wait probably varies by clinic, I had to have the post transfer 'shit it hasn't worked' period then one normal period before starting down reg for the frozen cycle. Possibly you might need to wait one month longer before another fresh cycle? But give yourself a couple of weeks mental break at least before you start planning the next, your brain/mind/soul/psychic energy (depending on the degree of woo you believe in!) will need a rest. Seriously both of you, be kind to yourselves.

IcsiWitsyBabyPlsGetUpMySpout · 18/09/2015 08:39

I am definitely out aren't I? I am now 9dp5dt and got a BFN on a 10miu IC with FMU this morning. I want to go for a run and have a glass of wine while watching the rugby tonight (not all at the same time!)

Floweroct2 · 18/09/2015 10:07

icsi jessie sorry you've got bfns so far but from my googling this week I don't think you're definitely out. My clinic don't do otd until 14 days post transfer.

I feel a bit guilty writing this but I think I may have bfp. Did a test 7dp5dt on wed evening and got a faint line, did one again yesterday with fmu but line was very faint so thought maybe it's still trigger. But did another one today and it's still there and maybe a bit darker. Very apprehensive as I've previously had 3mc so will take a day at a time.

lildottie · 18/09/2015 10:31

flower I tested daily before and trigger was gone within a few days so tentative congrats to you. I can only imagine how I will feel if this cycle results in bfp after mc last time so sending you an unmumsnetty hug and some Flowers

Waiting for third scan atm. Should get trigger date today if all is well

purplemeggie · 18/09/2015 10:32

So sorry Icsi and Jessie. It's miserable, it really is. As If It isn't bad enough dealing with the emotional upset, you come off all the hormones and crash too. Wine definitely helps. Hugs and Flowers for you.

Flower you are not allowed to feel guilty. Everyone here has walked a wretched pathto arrived in this place and you deserve your BFP just as much as anyone else. I understand your caution, but do let yourself be happy too xxx

JessieMcJessie · 18/09/2015 11:16

Yes, congrats flower! Absolutely no guilt. One day at a time and fingers crossed for you.

As for me, I am pretty sure clinics set OTD as a couple of days after when a BFP would likely show, so still convinced am out. Will still do the clinic's test on OTD but just because I have to do it and tell them in order to get our follow up appointment.

Lynn5 · 18/09/2015 11:16

Such mixed emotions reading through all the comments seeing those that finally get their bfp and others that are still going through their struggle. It's so nice being able to speak to others who understand exactly what your feeling.

Got the call this morning. 11 eggs retrieved 10 mature and 9 fertilised Grin absolutely buzzing just now. Just learning to take it one step at a time and appreciating each stage that goes well Smile

Lynn5 · 18/09/2015 11:21

Also yes 1st time.
6 months of clomid
3 cancelled iuis
1 cancelled iui
6 month wait
1 cancelled icsi

And here we are.......

Me pcos, partner average sperm.

Lynn5 · 18/09/2015 11:21

1 failed iui I should say

Trixielilac11 · 18/09/2015 11:56

Wow, 100% fertilisation is amazing Purple and 4 in the freezer too! How odd about your lining, reassuring that they have success from 5mm though and hopefully the increased meds help.

Hi Lynn great news about your fertilisation results!

Jessie so sorry to hear it was a BFN this morning Flowers My clinic offer a blood test at 9dp5dt (or 11dp3dt) so I knew for sure it was a BFN. I think the levels really can sometimes be too low to detect on a hpt.

Icsi Flowers for you too. My clinic said that I had to wait one cycle before doing an FET but we decided to wait an extra cycle to allow my body to recover (I had very swollen ovaries). I used the first cycle to drink loads of Wine it really does help, and then the next to get ready for my FET. I think focusing on quality time with DH, catching up with friends and family and trying to find ways to laugh help though there were also lots of tears. I also went along to two counselling sessions at my clinic which were helpful.

Flowers yay for your BFP, wishing you a very sticky little bean.

Hope all is well at your scan today lildottie

Had my monitoring scan this week, all on track for transfer on the 28th. Will be having another scan next week just to check all is still ok. I had some bleeding on CD10 which concerned me but it was old blood and according to the nurse this is nothing to worry about.

Lynn5 · 18/09/2015 17:04

Sorry if all these questions I'm asking are really dumb. As I've mentioned before this is the first time I've got this far in treatment. Egg collection yesterday got 9 fertilised eggs through icsi. What I was wondering what is the perfect scenario with egg transfer. Which day is better to transfer and if someone could explain the difference in grades of embryos. I know I'm scheduled for 5 day transfer and they will call me on day 3 if there's one which looks definitely better. Just so unsure of it all just now. Thanks.

purplemeggie · 18/09/2015 20:45

Jessie - I really feel for you. It's really hard having to go through that charade of testing and phoning in the results when all you want to do is put your head back under the duvet.

Icsi - I meant to say earlier that I've also always had to wait for the next AF before starting again. On a long protocol that effectively means a 7 week wait before starting to down-reg again. You do need that time to get your head straight.

Lynn don't apologise - we've all been the newbie trying to work out what the hell is happening! I've never quite got my head around the grading thing, so someone else might be more helpful there (both my clinics just referred to "excellent", "good" or "not good enough to freeze" rather than gradings). The day thing depends on how many embryos you have at which stage. With 9 fertilised (congratulations, that's great), you've got a strong chance that they'll take you to day 5, because then they'll be able to pick the absolute best one(s) to put back. If you only had 3, and you were planning to transfer 3, they'd put them back at day 2, on the basis that you're a better incubator than the ones in the lab. With a crop like that, hopefully you'll have some to transfer and some to freeze, but don't be disheartened if you lose a few along the way - that's the reason that they take them to day 5, so that they can see which are the strongest. Once they've made it to day 5, the odds of implantation rise significantly.

.

lildottie · 18/09/2015 21:20

Evening all. Just a quick post to let you know I'm scheduled for ec on Tuesday. Right ovary looking great, largest 19mm but left has slowed right down with largest just 13mm. Just keeping everything crossed!

purplemeggie · 18/09/2015 21:40

I'm crossing, Lil, I'm crossing!

Lynn5 · 18/09/2015 22:36

Thank you purplemeggie that makes sense. I had read they are better back in your body ASAP then read day 5 transfer is better, I get what you mean. Time will tell. Thanks again.

Shellster52 · 19/09/2015 11:58

Thinking of you Jessi and icsi. After 11 IVF attempts to get my BFP, I know how utterly crap the 10 failures were. icsi, you sound exactly like me with your question about how long you have to wait to cycle again. People wonder how I put myself through the IVF wringer so many times but for me, holding on to a glimmer of hope by quickly organising another cycle was the only way I was able to remotely pick myself up off the floor after a failure. I see some clinics on the internet that actually offer packages for back to back cycles, claiming they find they get more eggs in total this way. Other specialists seem to suggest waiting at least one natural cycle before trying again, so I guess it depends on your clinic. Enjoy a glass of wine or too before you pick yourself back up though Flowers

lil, after such a long wait to get started, I can't believe EC is suddenly around the corner. My nurse told me that with IVF, a follicles as small as 14mm can contain a mature egg when there are other larger follicles already there, differing from a natural cycle where a single dominant follicle must be larger than 14mm to contain a mature egg. And it was one of the few things she was right about with my cycles! So the left only has to grow just a tiny bit more which surely it should do by Tuesday.

lyn, I couldn't have worded it better than purple. Let us know how you get on.

purple, I have to blame you for me nearly wanting to burst out laughing in front of a patient on Thursday! I had to take his blood and looked at the Dr's request slip to see what blood test was ordered only to read the letters MTHFR. Instantly, my mind recalled your comment 'sounds rude, no?' and I had to work hard to contain myself at his test for being a mo#@er fu&^er. Okay, could have been my immature mind partly to blame as well.

purplemeggie · 19/09/2015 17:27

I'm delighted to have made you laugh so long after the event and from the other side of the world Shell Smile

lildottie · 19/09/2015 22:05

shell that is reassuring. Currently trying to talk myself out if the idea I've ovulated them all away because my nipple's are suddenly very sore! It's bonkers the million and one things we convince ourselves will/have gone wrong! Roll on Tuesday! Ice done my last 2 menopur injections on my left and buserelin on my right to give my left a boost! Silly isn't it!

And how did I not know you're a (I assume from your post) nurse?!
